We as a family have complete peace of mind
that our family member is well looked after and cared for in the way we would all want to
be cared for in the latter years of our life.
It's so nice to see him looking happy and

Our mum's dementia and other health factors prompted us to take the decision to move her to a care home. She has been fiercely independent all her life and was totally against leaving her own home. We had help from social services so we knew we were making the right decision but it was very stressful. The people of Bowes house, and the facility itself, have made my mum's move a great success. We are pleased with all the staff we have met and have dealings with. And our Mum looks healthier, she is eating well, taking her meds and talking to other residents. She's the best I've seen her for many months.

I visit regularly and have seen such an improvement in my father. I like how whenever a staff member walks by they ask how he is.
The care staff are kind and caring. They keep us informed of how my father has been.
The lifestyle team are amazing and put on some fun activities and bring in different entertainers which always seem to go down well.
The food is a good variety and good quality. And the cakes in the cafe are lovely.

Staff are always very welcoming and happy to chat and listen.

The staff team at Bowes house have continued to provide high quality care and activities for our father while we, the family, have been working hard to sell his flat. Their patience and support has enabled this stressful process not to interrupt our father's continuity of care and his daily life, during his late stage of Alzheimer's. We are now through this period and are happy that his place at Bowes House is secure for the foreseeable future. ThankYou to all staff involved.

The staff are dedicated, caring, enthusiastic and professional. Residents have daily activities sessions published in advance for family and friends to view. Very importantly anyone suffering from dementia are not shut away in their own area but free to mix with other residents, under supervision. There is also a variety of meals cooked professionally.

My mum has been at Bowes for 3 years.
I do not think she would still be with us if it was not for the care she has received. She has made friends with other residents and they have a strong community spirit.
She is in the early stages of dementia but the activities that they have daily help maintain her physically and mentally. The home is always clean and as it is constantly updated.
The staff are friendly and attentive.
The food is good and there are always tempting snakes and drinks offered so even the residents who do not have a big appetite are well catered for.
They take mum on trips and vary the days by celebrating events through the year .
Mum is always treated with respect, kindness and dignity.

I have never regretted placing here there.

My mother stayed at Bowes House for 3 weeks respite/rehabilitation after a 2-week hospital stay. Lisa was very quick to organise the admission and ensure everything was in place. It is a lovely environment for the residents and all the staff are amazing. We would have no hesitation in booking Mum back in should she need further rest bite care.

I requested an urgent assessment for respite care for someone I have power of attorney for. The comprehensive assessment of needs was completed at home, by the clinical lead practitioner for Bowes House within 24 hours. Admission was arranged for the following day as the individual elderly gentleman was struggling to manage at home, his self-care had deteriorated and he had recently had a couple of falls.

On admission we were greeted by friendly attentive staff and despite initial natural anxieties about being in a care provision, the resident soon settled into a routine and with assistance from the caring staff has requested to extend his period of respite care for a further two weeks.

Following a challenging hospital stay, my mother was admitted to Bowes House for a six-week period of rehabilitation, which has since transitioned into long-term care. Her needs are complex and require specialist nursing support. Although the staff were initially unprepared for this level of care, they actively sought specialist training to accommodate her requirements, thereby enabling her continued residence at Bowes House. Without such training, she would have required readmission to hospital.
The staff provide high-quality care and foster an inviting environment for families. Residents benefit from engaging activities, and family participation is encouraged. The coffee lounge offers visitors a comfortable space to enjoy refreshments.

I am deeply appreciative of the staff's commitment and professionalism throughout my mother's time at Bowes House.

I can only speak very positively of my Mum's experience of two-weeks respite at Bowes House. Having been diagnosed with several health issues, and the hospital not having any beds, my Mum required urgent nursing care. We thought respite would be the answer. Bowes House arranged an assessment and my Mum was moved in within 24 hours. With the loving and professional care she received she has fully recovered and is returning home. Both my Mum and Dad have been fully supported. Staff are caring, professional and very friendly. Mum and Dad feel like they have made new friends and are looking forward to attending the activity sessions soon.

My father has been in Bowes House for nearly a month now. He suffers from Alzheimers and needs constant supervision.
When visiting him I have been greeted by friendly staff ready to inform me about his wellbeing. I can see that he is well cared for and looked after. The care staff are always kind and reassuring to him.
The home looks clean, tidy and well maintained.
There seems to be lots of activities for the residents to participate in if they wish.
My father is enjoying the food offered and looks forward to meal times. I notice that he always has snacks and drinks when he wants them as well.

The management have been very helpful and informative with their advice to me.

My husband had respite stay at Bowes House recently.
On our initial look around, I felt reassured that he would feel comfortable there. Staff were friendly and informative and we were made to feel that no question was too trivial.
The whole building was light and calm with cosy, homely areas to sit in.

My husband really enjoyed his week there and took part in many activities. The staff were lovely.

Lovely clean, caring well managed home. My Dad has always been very reticent about going into care but hit crisis point and had to leave home. My stepmother has been a resident at Bowes house for 2.5 year now, although the association with Bowes began months before this when she decided to move into residential care. Despite being towards the end of the Covid pandemic, communication was excellent form day one. The care that my stepmother receives is second to none, both personal and social. Having worked in Health and Social care for much of my working life, I feel I can say this with authority.
The care goes well beyond physical needs, ensuring that individual resident's social interests are well met and exceeded. The staff at Bowes go out of their way to provide a huge variety of activities from music, to art, board games to exercise classes. Religious needs are also well met. Significantly, the recent Care UK's granting wishes charity project is enabling to attend an opera. It was no mean feat for the staff at the home to arrange the tickets, wheel chair taxi and two carers to enable her dream to come true.

I highly recommend Bowes.

My sister and I are mum's carers. Mum's 97 and whilst reasonably independent still needs looking after. Bowes was just what the family needed whilst my sister was in Canada visiting her daughter. Continuous caring by me would have been just too much for me, she being in Bedfordshire and me in East Sussex and away from my family when caring. So respite care for a month was as much for me as it was for her.

The people at Bowes were all wonderful during her months stay and the facility first class in every respect. I would have no hesitation in arranging future respite care at Bowes if circumstances required.
