Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level
of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge.
Nursing fees include the Funded Nursing Contribution (FNC) if you are eligible. There are no additional fees for respite stays.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply an agreed hourly charge for this service.

The staff are very welcoming and made s feel at home. Residents have a good restaurant, coffee shop and daily entertainment. The rooms are good with shower and t.v. Freeview is available, other tv packages would be good but is not available. Care and nursing staff are excellent.

Bowes House were excellent in supporting my father-in-law during a short stay following a prolonged hospital admission. They were welcoming and supportive and the progress he made during that time was excellent, gaining mobility back. The staff made him feel welcome and were kind and supportive. I feel

Bowes House were brilliant in helping get my father in for respite care. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly throughout his stay with them and helped him get from being bedridden to back walking with a frame. We are all extremely grateful for the care and support that he received with them.

My grandmother was in Bowes House Care Home for almost a year, up until her recent death. Bowes House is such a wonderful place, not only the place itself but their support and care is just amazing and the staff are so lovely too. There's always lots going on and the residents who join in always seem
to have lots of fun. My grandmother's final stages of life were made much better thanks to the team at Bowes House.

My father's well-being has improved since his arrival at Bowes House. For 8 weeks in hospital, he hardly ate and did not drink enough. With no tv or stimulation, Dad's will to survive declined. I love his room, the decor, the comfy bed and the garden view. The staff are very friendly and nothing is
too much trouble. Bowes House made Dad's 99th birthday a memorable one with lots of decorations and a special cake. I feel so much happier knowing that Dad is enjoying his final stages of his life. Thank you Bowes House.

I cannot express my thanks enough to the staff on Barley. They looked after my husband right to the end. It helped me come to terms with my loss. From the very first telephone call, right through to when my father sadly passes away, every single member of staff we came into contact with was professional, compassionate and caring. I do not have one bad word to say about Bowes House. I have worked in the care system and I wish that all homes were like here. The building is clean, bright and doesn't smell of over-boiled cabbage. All the food is fresh and cooked in their own kitchen, the residents have a choice of two mains and
two desserts every mealtime. It has a cafe where residents and their friends and family can all enjoy a cuppa together, even a bar. There's activities during the day if a resident wants to join in. Today I saw a man come to sing live and some ladies were up and dancing, it's a very happy environment. The rooms are comfortable and warm, ensuite/wet rooms and cosy. The staff go above and beyond to make your loved ones feel like nothing is too much to ask for. The few members of staff that I was personally involved with, from management to cleaning, felt like family (I will miss them). I wish I could give it more stars, very highly recommended.

My mother was transferred to Bowes House after a long period in the hospital, it made such a difference to be able to visit her in such a lovely environment and so reassuring to know she had the privacy and quiet of her own room having been on a ward for so long.
All the staff I came into contact
with were lovely, and caring, and treated mum with empathy and respect.
You made a very difficult time as comfortable as it could have been.

I’m passionate about my role and the home.


I like to see lots of smiles and interaction with staff and residents. A good working day for me is to know that I have given my all to my team and to residents, knowing that they have all had a good day and that the care they’ve received has been the best.


Before joining, I’d worked in independent care homes for ten years. I wanted to stay in the care sector while developing my skills and career. Care UK really helps you to progress.


I think my proudest moments at Care UK were being nominated for the Team Leader of the Year award in the Care UK Residential Care Services Awards, and then being promoted to my current role.
