Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level
of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge.
Nursing fees include the Funded Nursing Contribution (FNC) if you are eligible. There are no additional fees for respite stays.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply an agreed hourly charge for this service.

Bowes House kindly accepted my 93-year-old mother for a week's respite following a pacemaker operation.
All the staff made it easy for us to do this so she came straight from hospital. From the first phone call, to the assessment and chat with the manager was all completed in a friendly and competent
manner.
Mum had a perfect week's respite. Every member of staff was caring and went out of their way to make Mum comfortable.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Bowes House to anyone.

My dad had the best care, he was loved and taken good care of. The staff treated my dad with so much love and dignity, everyone went above and beyond for both my dad and my family. Such a warm loving place to be. He passed away there on 9th January 2024 at the age of 93 years old with dignity and surrounded
by staff that loved him and took good care of him. Everyone there is amazing, it gave us peace of mind knowing he loved it there and the fact all staff were so kind and nice. He had vascular dementia and became bed bound but the care he got never changed even at the end. Can't thank them enough for all they have done for both my dad and my family. He died with dignity. He was there from January 2023 to January 2024. What an amazing care home, keep up the good work.

The staff have been extremely helpful. This is my first time in a home. It has taken a bit of getting used to. I have enjoyed the music. My family have visited me most days. I have been able to visit my family on several occasions whilst here.

I believe my wife was very fortunate to have been offered a place at Bowes House.
Suffering from dementia, a heart problem and an eating disorder, my wife requires medical care I am unable to give her at home. The staff at Bowes House appear competent, caring, considerate and provide all the necessary
attention that my wife’s condition demands.
The rooms are private, spacious, clean and very comfortable. The whole place has a warm, welcoming feeling about it, and the staff are all very polite and friendly.
Yes, Bowes House is definitely the right place for my wife and exceeds my expectations in all respects.

My mother is both well and happy. Since arriving at Bowes House Care Home, I have noticed her cognitive processes improving. My mother entered Bowes House from April for respite care, and the transformation in her well-being is huge, which is down to the amazing staff and, in particular, the nursing care she received upon arrival and continues to this day. There are times when it becomes evident that three may not be enough
staff, and although these incidents are few, they may have an impact on a resident.
Overall moving Mum into Bowes House was the best decision the family have ever made, as we know she is safe and happy, and her needs are being attended to.

Very lovely friendly staff who looked after my dad with care and kindness.
Place is very clean, tidy and well looked after. A great experience, not like a care home, we wanted Dad to have a holiday experience whilst we were away, and feel that's what he got. He was upbeat and talked about it happily

Mum came into Bowes House after a 5-week stay in hospital, specifically for respite care. The home is excellent in every way. They made Mum feel cared for, comfortable and safe. Mum came in with complications which were quickly addressed and her recovery will be all the better for being in safe hands

My husband came to Bowes House via NHS on end of his life. Since then because of the first-class care and attention, we have received from all the staff looking after him, his dementia is negligible and even being bedridden, they have managed to get him in a chair. He is happy and contented and accepts
freely that this is now his home. The staff are all great and I have every faith in them. Since Bowes House, my stress levels are low and I don't have to worry about my husband's welfare. Three months and he is still alive. Thank you.

After a questionable experience at another care home, Bowes House Care Home was a breath of fresh air. We were welcomed, prior to booking, and invited to view the facilities and meet the staff who showed an interest in my wife and explained their philosophy of care. It was obvious that other residents
had a great rapport with them.
On admittance, my wife was not easy to look after but their kind and positive approach won her over and she was able to trust the staff for the rest of her stay, the staff achieve much that I had not been able to do and I have booked, already, for a further stay in seven weeks. Thank you all.

From the initial enquiry to the time when my mum was admitted permanently, I found all the staff to be friendly, helpful and informative. Nothing was too much trouble. Before joining, I’d worked in independent care homes for ten years. I wanted to stay in the care sector while developing my skills and career. Care UK really helps you to progress.


I think my proudest moments at Care UK were being nominated for the Team Leader of the Year award in the Care UK Residential Care Services Awards, and then being promoted to my current role.
