My mother spent three months in the care of the wonderful staff at Chiltern Grange. Everyone was extremely caring, kind and highly professional from the initial home assessment to the support for my mother and the visiting family members. We could visit at times that suited us and communication between
the staff and family was perfect. Chiltern Grange has a lovely calm atmosphere with the rooms all looking fresh, clean and well presented.

Our mother moved to Chiltern Grange Care Home last year and the care for her throughout her time has been top notch. As well as diligently looking after her they have treated her with respect and accommodated me and my sister's needs for access to mum. The experience with Chiltern when compared with
the previous home she stayed in has been like night and day.
Reply from Jemimah Guinto, Home Manager at Chiltern Grange Care HomeIt is great to hear that you are happy with the quality of your mother's care. Our aim is for our home to feel like an extension of your own, so we will always endeavour to accommodate any visiting requirements our residents' loved ones may have, which I am glad to hear has been your experience.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! My husband has been at Chiltern Grange Care Home since July and the care he has received has been exemplary. All of the staff, without exception, are so friendly and kind to residents and visitors alike. The fact that I can go in anytime I want to, makes visiting
very easy. Nobody wants a loved one to have to go into care, but the staff here have totally eliminated the worries I initially had. I can highly recommend this home. A special thank you to one particular member of staff her team, who are looking after him so well.
Reply from Jemimah Guinto, Home Manager at Chiltern Grange Care HomeThank you for taking a moment to leave us a five-star review. It is fantastic to hear you would recommend our home to others, and I will pass on your kind words to the rest of our team.

My wife died in the dementia ward after being a resident for 3 months. I felt that she was treated with love, efficiency, and respect, All aspects of her care were excellent. We as relatives were always kept aware of any changes in her condition as soon as they appeared. We are grateful to all the staff.

My brother has been a resident for 4 months. He has settled in well and gets on well with all the staff and most of the other residents. The staff here are so friendly and the whole place has a very welcoming feeling. Always get a smile from everyone and a chat despite how busy they are. We couldn't
have wished for a better home for my brother. Oh yes, and the cakes are amazing!

My father's care needs changed significantly over the weekend and knowing Chiltern Grange would be able to meet these needs, my mother-in-law is a resident, I contacted the care home on Monday and an assessment was carried out the same day. Fortunately, a bed was available on the floor where his needs
could be best met and he commenced his stay on the Tuesday at a time to suit his transport. The welcome from the staff was warm and so encouraging, he loved it immediately. The staff go to great lengths to accommodate the resident's needs and make them feel special. My father is very happy with his last port of call.

I reached a point where I was unable to properly care for my wife who was suffering from breast cancer and Alzheimer's dementia. We searched locally, several care homes but came to the decision that Chiltern Grange had more to offer than others. This decision was more than justified as, over the next
sex months my wife received exemplary care from the care manager and through the whole host of staff entrusted with her care. Chiltern Grange, in my opinion, is a role model for caring for those in need at this difficult time of life.
Reply from Jemimah Guinto, Home Manager at Chiltern Grange Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to write a review of your experience at Chiltern Grange. Although my brother has been at Chiltern Grange for a relatively short time I feel completely confident that this is the perfect place for him. There is a sense of calm - from the moment you walk in the staff are welcoming, friendly, and smiling. The care not only for my brother but for us as a family
is exemplary. To know that my brother is well cared for in a pleasant, homely surrounding and above all - safe - is amazing.

Recently, my father became unwell and needed a few weeks of respite to recover himself. After checking online reviews, I decided upon Chiltern Grange in Stokenchurch. From my first dealings on the phone, I felt that my father would be in good hands. We arrived at the home’s reception to be greeted by
name, as the receptionist was clearly expecting us – a good sign. The atmosphere was calm and friendly, and I felt we had made the right choice straight away.
My father stayed for a month’s respite in a lovely room and the staff were so attentive and caring. He has put weight back on and he is much less anxious than he was on arrival. He kept telling me that his stay was like being at a five-star hotel. He has even ventured out on the weekly ‘jaunts’ to garden centres, museums, and other places of interest.
Many thanks to all the staff who helped my father’s recuperation along and gave us peace of mind that he was being well cared for.
Reply from Jemimah, Home Manager at Chiltern Grange Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to review Chiltern Grange, following your father's respite stay. My very elderly mother has been at Chiltern Grange for two years now and I can honestly say that she has felt safe, content and totally cared for. The staff are so patient and understanding, the food is great, there’s plenty of different daily activities and the whole ambience is like that of a five-star
hotel. What makes a real difference is having regular staff so that she sees the same faces each day and gets a true sense of continuity, however, the real driving force behind the success of Chiltern Grange comes from the manager who has instigated many positive changes there and has personally gone above and beyond to ensure what is best for my mother. Her thoughtfulness and dedication have been remarkable and a true credit to this care home.

My husband spent just over two weeks in respite care on the nursing unit at Chiltern Grange in January 2024. After a negative experience previously in a different home, I was so very pleased with the care provided here. My husband was treated with respect and dignity and I felt his care needs were well
met during his stay there. I had a couple of minor issues which were addressed quickly and effectively by staff, whose attitudes were consistently compassionate. The food generally was flavoursome and varied. We are both more than satisfied and will be using this home again for future periods of respite.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.944)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.944) out of 10 for Chiltern Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 40 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.944 for Chiltern Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (452 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 478 Ratings = 4.944
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chiltern Grange Care Home is based on 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Client Services Manager Joined: 2023

Hello, my name is Jackie Chicken, and I am the Client Services Manager here at Chiltern Grange.

Having previously worked in the retirement sector for four years, I was delighted to make the move into the care sector in 2022. My previous career was spent in the luxury travel industry, so delivering excellent customer service has always been high on my agenda.

Porthaven has a wonderful reputation in terms of quality of care and beautiful design, so I feel very privileged to work for one of the best care providers in the country. My role at Chiltern Grange means I am the first point of contact for families starting out on that journey to find the best fit in terms of a caring environment for their loved ones. I love the fact that we provide person-centred care, and I really enjoy showcasing the wonderful facilities, newly refurbished spaces and exceptional staff we are fortunate enough to have here at Chiltern Grange.

Outside of work, you can find me as a chaperone in the wings of a theatre supporting my daughter or cheering my son on from the side of a rugby pitch!
