Love is most definitely at the focus of everyone who works at Chilton Grange. In 4 and a quarter years at any time of day or night I never once saw any member of staff treat residents without respect, politeness and sensitivity.
My mother was at home here, her room was comfortable, personal, warm,
clean and always smelled fresh including the en suite. The entire establishment felt like home. The food was varied, restaurant standard and tailored to individual diets. I cannot fault any staff, Mum felt at home.

I spent three weeks on the nursing floor after transferring from hospital. During this time of recovery, I was truly amazed at the kindness and compassion of all the staff. They were so lovely.
I did feel at times that the workload was greater than the staffing levels, particularly with the qualified
nursing staff, that said, I cannot speak highly enough of all the teams involved in my care both on the nursing floor and on the respite care floor. Thank you so much.

My husband went to Chiltern Grange for two week's respite care - this was the first time he had been away from home and my 24-hour care. I was very anxious about how he would react but I need not have worried. He was given a lovely welcome and made comfortable in his pleasant room. The overall standard
of the care home is excellent; it is very clean, and the facilities are very good. The staff are very kind and helpful and treated my husband with dignity and looked after him very well. The catering is of high quality and he ate very well. In the afternoons there were often activities going on and they organise singers etc on a regular basis. When I collected my husband, the staff were very helpful. All his clothes were laundered and everything was smelling very fresh, so I welcomed not having to get home to do a lot of washing! I was very impressed with the care home and my husband will definitely return when I need my next break. The cost is rather high though!

My husband has acute Alzheimers and cannot walk or stand unaided. The staff who attended him were so very kind and helpful and they really cared about the resident and what they were doing. Whenever I visited there was always three or four staff sitting with the residents looking to see if they were
comfotable or just talking with them. The atmosphere in the home was one of fun, comfort and homeliness and I would recommend Chiltern Grange to anyone.

Dad has late age onset dementia, yet he currently resides on the 'assisted living' floor. Either myself, my wife, or both of us visit at least once a week. Despite his memory issues, he is ALWAYS relaxed, happy, comfortable, well-groomed and well-fed! The staff clearly understand the foibles of each
resident and deal with every eventuality tactfully and always with a gentle smile.

My mother has settled into Chiltern Grange Care Home well thanks to all the caring and loving staff. She is happy and well cared for and there is always a welcoming community atmosphere. There is a full programme of activities and mum has enjoyed short outings particularly to the local garden nursery.
They have an excellent chef who has been so good catering for my mums needs as she requires a gluten free diet. The staff have all been so supportive not just to my mum but to us all as a family.

I was very worried about putting my Mum in a care home but the Chiltern Grange has been fantastic and took away all my concerns. She has been there 5 months now and is loving it. I recently went to the July garden party and it was excellent and my Mum and I had a fantastic time.

I placed my mother in the Chiltern Grange in February 2019. For the two periods I have been with my mother (I live abroad), I have been exceptionally impressed with all the staff, the level of care and concern. My mother also sings your praises, which we never thought we would hear as she was loathed
to go into a care home, but circumstances made it unavoidable. My mother's health has significantly improved and we cannot thank you enough.

Mum was only in Chiltern Grange for a few months but the care she received from all the staff was excellent. When it became obvious she was not going to recover, they all did their very best to make her last few weeks as comfortable and dignified as possible. They also did a huge amount to support
me and help to alleviate what was a very sad and difficult time. I would have no hesitation in recommending Chiltern Grange as a welcoming, safe and well-run Care Home that goes the extra mile to do its very best for all residents and their families.

This care home is friendly and easy going. I feel that my dad is in a safe environment that I (and my whole family) can treat as home whilst we are visiting him. The food is incredible - dad is especially partial to the puddings! The staff are understanding and caring when dealing with us as well as
my dad. I would highly recommend.

Thank you to all the staff at Chiltern Grange Care Home for their kindness, care and thoughtfulness in looking after my mother. At all times everyone gave her the attention she needed with so much patience. The environment in the care home was perfect for my mother's needs and she was always treated
with the utmost dignity. I and my family are indebted to all the staff and the lifeline they extended to us in our time of need in placing my mother in such lovely surroundings.

Having viewed 7 care homes, Chiltern Grange Care Home was by far the most suitable for mum. We felt comfortable as soon as we walked in and she has settled far quicker than we expected. The staff are all so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We are really happy with our choice.

Management really excellent.
Would like front desk monitored in evenings, weekdays and weekends to avoid residents' possible escape.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Chiltern Grange Care Home. From the minute we walked in initially, to my dad going in for respite, all the staff were warm and welcoming.

This care was second to none, I felt all the residents were very well looked after and always enough staff on duty,

the food looked and smelled delicious.

Thanks so much for looking after him so well.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.947)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.947) out of 10 for Chiltern Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 36 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.947 for Chiltern Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (407 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 430 Ratings = 4.947
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chiltern Grange Care Home is based on 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15, which has been reached with 36 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hello, my name is Jackie Chicken, and I am the Client Services Manager here at Chiltern Grange.

Having previously worked in the retirement sector for four years, I was delighted to make the move into the care sector in 2022. My previous career was spent in the luxury travel industry, so delivering excellent customer service has always been high on my agenda.

Porthaven has a wonderful reputation in terms of quality of care and beautiful design, so I feel very privileged to work for one of the best care providers in the country. My role at Chiltern Grange means I am the first point of contact for families starting out on that journey to find the best fit in terms of a caring environment for their loved ones. I love the fact that we provide person-centred care, and I really enjoy showcasing the wonderful facilities, newly refurbished spaces and exceptional staff we are fortunate enough to have here at Chiltern Grange.

Outside of work, you can find me as a chaperone in the wings of a theatre supporting my daughter or cheering my son on from the side of a rugby pitch!
