Hartwood house is a beautiful care home exceptional environment very clean. We'll maintained attractive gardens with both trees shrubs and fragrant roses etc. there is comfy seating ares provides shaded areas if needed. The management and staff are friendly and provide calm and happy environment which
is important for our loved ones well-being. There is a good checking in system so people are accounted for in emergencies and safety whose in the building. After being in hospital I was looking for a care home to provide some respite care for my Dad who has dementia. I can't praise Hartwood House enough. They made the transition from hospital to the home as stress free as they could and were so kind and reassuring. Hartwood House is beautifully decorated
and has lovely facilities, the garden areas are a real bonus as Dad loves to be outside. They provide a full itinerary of activities and entertainment too and Dad is certainly making the most of all the delicious food! Above everything else what really makes Hartwood House so special is the staff. You are really made to feel welcome and almost part of a family, they are all so warm and friendly and nothing seems to be too much trouble. Dad was initially booked in for two weeks but this has been extended as we love it there so much!

Your kind words about our team mean a great deal to us. We strive to create a supportive environment where residents and their families feel valued and at home, so it is lovely to hear that you feel part of the Hartwood House family.

Thank you for placing your trust in us to care for your father. We are thrilled that his stay has been such a positive experience that you chose to extend it, and we look forward to continuing to support both him and your family.

What a beautiful home for my father to spend his last days , months or even years. He is happy which is the most important thing.
There are always many carers to go round and they listen .
The home is beautifully furnished and his room has many of his own personal possessions which are looked after
by the carers as they would be in his own home.
The home is clean and also smells nice , like your own home.
Outside visits are attended by a member of staff if one of us cannot make the appointment.
We are very happy with our choice of Dads accommodation.

I cannot fault the care but I find Management very slow to respond to emails. I also was shocked at the annual increase which equates to £700 a month and this is around 9%. This means our money is dwindling. Never once in the time my relative has been there have they checked in for any financial support
check we are ok. Our money will run out in around 8 months. There's never a suggestion of chat to us. I feel really quite disappointed with this. I find the new manager less friendly than the old one and overall I am not feeling particularly happy with the home right now. Just to be clear a recent review put costs up at £8k per month. Up by £700 per month. Care staff are lovely but I feel management is a bit of a let down.

After months of finding it difficult to cope at home by herself and coming out of a two week hospital stay on the Isle of Wight, we were faced with the challenge of what to do next. Our Sister had no family on the IOW so we visited six local Care homes on the mainland which were accessible to the family
in the New Forest. We gave each Care Home a rating for different aspects including ' Would we be Happy in the chosen Home ourselves'? Hartwood House came up with maximum points so our decision was easily made. The Staff were very helpful and made our Sister welcome from the very start. This is a difficult time for both our Sister and the rest of the family but it is great to know she is in the best place, being cared for and the family can visit with ease. Instead of being isolated on the Isle of Wight our Sister has come Home!
Reply from Charlotte Dean, Home Admissions Advisor at Hartwood House Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience and for your kind words about Hartwood House. It really does mean so much to us and I will share this with the team.

Our team works hard to ensure every resident feels welcome, safe, and truly at home, so it means a great deal to know this has been your experience from the very beginning. We're also pleased that being closer to family has made such a positive difference.

(1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 64 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I am committed to ensuring that every resident receives high-quality, individualised care that promotes independence, wellbeing, and dignity.

By fostering a culture of compassion, respect, and teamwork, I strive to ensure that Hartwood House remains a place where residents feel safe, valued, and truly at home.

My Experience
I began my professional career working for a global investment bank, where I developed strong organisational, leadership, and people management skills. After having my two boys, I took the opportunity to reflect on what I truly wanted from my career and decided it was the right time to pursue my long-standing passion for working in care.
I started my journey in the care sector as a Care Assistant, gaining invaluable hands-on experience supporting residents and their families. Driven by a desire to make a positive difference, I progressed into a Care Coordinator role before being promoted to Deputy Manager. Each step of my career has strengthened my commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care and supporting teams to provide the best possible experience for those we care for.

Outside of work, my greatest passion is travelling. I enjoy exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and creating lasting memories with family and friends. In fact, I almost always have my next holiday planned, as having something exciting to look forward to is something I really enjoy. Travelling helps me recharge, gain new perspectives, and bring positivity and enthusiasm into both my personal and professional life.

Job Title: Homes Admissions Advisor Joined: 2024

What I Do:
My role here at Hartwood House is to provide support to anyone enquiring about moving into care and the options that are available to them. As Admissions Advisor at Hartwood House, no two days are ever the same — and that’s exactly what I love about my role. From welcoming families for their first visit, to guiding them through the enquiry process and helping them make informed decisions, I am here to ensure every interaction feels personal, supportive and reassuring.

My Experience:
With five years’ experience in the care sector, I truly feel I have found my calling. Supporting families at what can often be an emotional and uncertain time is something I consider both a responsibility and a privilege.

Before moving into care, I worked in hospitality, where I developed a genuine passion for working with people and delivering exceptional service. That background has shaped my approach — I believe families should feel listened to, valued and completely at ease from their very first conversation with us.

For me, this role is about more than admissions; it’s about building trust, creating relationships and helping families feel confident that Hartwood House is the right place for their loved one.

Job Title: Activities Lead Joined: 2026

What I do:
As an Activities and Wellbeing Coordinator at Hartwood House, I am passionate about creating a vibrant, engaging, and person-centred environment for residents. My role focuses on enhancing quality of life through meaningful activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.

I design and deliver a diverse programme tailored to individual interests, abilities, and life histories—ranging from creative arts and gentle exercise to social events and community connections. I believe that every moment matters, and I strive to ensure each resident feels valued and included.

My Experience:
I began my career in care shortly after finishing my education, starting as a Care Assistant. In this role, I discovered a passion for engaging residents beyond their daily care, particularly through activities that brought enjoyment, connection, and purpose to their day.
I began supporting the Activities Lead and quickly grew in confidence and creativity, learning how to plan and deliver inclusive, engaging programmes tailored to individual needs and interests. This experience led me to progress into the role of Activities Lead myself.

Now, I combine my care background with my passion for wellbeing to create meaningful activities that enhance residents’ quality of life, ensuring everyone feels valued, included, and supported.

About Me:
I spend most of my time out with my Friends, they are such a huge part of my life. I enjoy meeting everyone at the local pub on a Friday; this has been a tradition for many years. I have 2 beautiful cats that I adore. I absolutely love animals; I find them to be so therapeutic.
