During my short stay here. The professionalism and friendliness of the entire staff and management has greatly impressed me. My room is well-appointed and kept spotless. The bed is very comfortable, and the room has a pleasant aspect looking out onto the lower patio and gardens.
The food devised by
the chefs is delicious, well balanced and shows the care taken to cater for residents special needs, likewise with the beverages, which are served at any time on request. The allowance for residents to congregate in small or large areas, or to spend private times alone in their rooms is also impressive. Althogh I haven't taken advantage of the activities available, I can see that plenty is on offer, when safety and security is factored in I can safely say that it is good value for money. My congratulations.

From the moment we walked through the door on our initial visit, the staff and property were most welcoming. We enjoyed a number of visits prior to my uncle's stay to help him familiarise himself with the property, people and food. This was all welcomed and ably facilitated.
He had a great stay
and it was lovely to know that he was in good hands.
We're booking again for another short respite stay.
Thank you again to the team for your great care.

On every visit we are warmly welcomed and made to feel part of the Hartwood House family. Without fail we are offered refreshments served with a smile and if the manager is around she makes a point of saying hello and spending time with you and the relative you are seeing, and giving you time to talk
about any issues you may have. The staff are always helpful, friendly and are well presented.

Overall the feedback is very positive and I would thoroughly recommend this home. The staff were very helpful and friendly and all requests were fulfilled if they could. There is a distinct difference between Hartwood House staff and agency staff. Without a doubt, Hartwood House staff are better. The
agency staff weren't as helpful or friendly. More night staff are needed as you can sometimes wait 10 or 20 mins for a call bell to be answered and that is a long time if you want the toilet! The food was excellent, good choices and if you didn't like something, the chef would make something else. A very high standard. The establishment didn't smell of urine either! The decor was of good quality and well-maintained. I enjoyed my stay very much.
Reply from Ellie Peters, Home Admissions Advisor at Hartwood House Care HomeThank you for your kind review, we are very pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay and feel our standards are very high at Hartwood House. Your feedback is key in helping us shape the continuous improvements to our service. We are pleased to share that only in exceptional circumstances will we use agency staff, we have recently had new team members that have joined the Hartwood family. Our electronic call bell system logs the response time on each call, with a target that must be achieved by the team, all calls that go over are flagged by management who will review them. Our staffing is responsive to the number of residents in the home and their level of care, we use a dependency tool which is regularly reviewed by the management team. We thoroughly enjoyed you staying with us and wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Our mum needed some respite care due to having had a few falls at home where she lives on her own.
Since she’s been at Hartwood House she has settled in really well and really loves the care she has had from all the staff at the house!
Her room is lovely and spacious and looks out over the lovely
garden.
She also enjoys spending some time in the local village which is really close by and an easy walk there and back.
Very homely and friendly place with great, caring staff.

From the moment the home admissions officer picked up the phone as I was desperately looking for a respite place for both my parents to now, I can only praise Hartwood House. All the staff have been kind and caring. The managers are excellent and run a "tight ship." I am a nurse and so probably am very
fussy but I cannot think of a better home. If you are ever worried there is always a kind word from the staff. Well done to you all from each department!

My wife came to Hartwood House Care Home for 4 weeks of respite while I had a minor operation. She has Alzheimer's and other health problems. During this time her condition deteriorated and she was put on end-of-life care on 28/08/23. During this time the care she was given was excellent. The staff
responded immediately to any changes in my wife's condition and made sure that she was comfortable. They lost no time in seeking medical assistance when required and went above and beyond making my son, my two daughters and I welcome at any time prior to her passing away on 08/09/23.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.915)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.915) out of 10 for Hartwood House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 65 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 64 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.915 for Hartwood House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (722 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 773 Ratings = 4.915
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hartwood House Care Home is based on 64 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 64 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

What I Do
As Deputy Manager at Hartwood House, I help lead the day-to-day operations of the home, working alongside residents, their loved ones, and our dedicated team to create a warm, supportive, and caring environment. I am committed to ensuring that every resident receives high-quality, individualised care that promotes independence, wellbeing, and dignity.
My role includes supporting and developing staff, monitoring the quality of care provided, and helping to maintain the highest standards across the home. By fostering a culture of compassion, respect, and teamwork, I strive to ensure that Hartwood House remains a place where residents feel safe, valued, and truly at home.

My Experience
I began my professional career working for a global investment bank, where I developed strong organisational, leadership, and people management skills. After having my two boys, I took the opportunity to reflect on what I truly wanted from my career and decided it was the right time to pursue my long-standing passion for working in care.
I started my journey in the care sector as a Care Assistant, gaining invaluable hands-on experience supporting residents and their families. Driven by a desire to make a positive difference, I progressed into a Care Coordinator role before being promoted to Deputy Manager. Each step of my career has strengthened my commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care and supporting teams to provide the best possible experience for those we care for.

About Me
I am incredibly proud to be a mum to my two wonderful sons, who are at the heart of everything I do. Family is very important to me, and I love spending quality time with them whenever I can.
Outside of work, my greatest passion is travelling. I enjoy exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and creating lasting memories with family and friends. In fact, I almost always have my next holiday planned, as having something exciting to look forward to is something I really enjoy. Travelling helps me recharge, gain new perspectives, and bring positivity and enthusiasm into both my personal and professional life.

What I Do:
My role here at Hartwood House is to provide support to anyone enquiring about moving into care and the options that are available to them. As Admissions Advisor at Hartwood House, no two days are ever the same — and that’s exactly what I love about my role. From welcoming families for their first visit, to guiding them through the enquiry process and helping them make informed decisions, I am here to ensure every interaction feels personal, supportive and reassuring.

My Experience:
With five years’ experience in the care sector, I truly feel I have found my calling. Supporting families at what can often be an emotional and uncertain time is something I consider both a responsibility and a privilege.

Before moving into care, I worked in hospitality, where I developed a genuine passion for working with people and delivering exceptional service. That background has shaped my approach — I believe families should feel listened to, valued and completely at ease from their very first conversation with us.

Job Title: Activities Lead Joined: 2026

What I do:
As an Activities and Wellbeing Coordinator at Hartwood House, I am passionate about creating a vibrant, engaging, and person-centred environment for residents. My role focuses on enhancing quality of life through meaningful activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.

I design and deliver a diverse programme tailored to individual interests, abilities, and life histories—ranging from creative arts and gentle exercise to social events and community connections. I believe that every moment matters, and I strive to ensure each resident feels valued and included.

My Experience:
I began my career in care shortly after finishing my education, starting as a Care Assistant. In this role, I discovered a passion for engaging residents beyond their daily care, particularly through activities that brought enjoyment, connection, and purpose to their day.
I began supporting the Activities Lead and quickly grew in confidence and creativity, learning how to plan and deliver inclusive, engaging programmes tailored to individual needs and interests. This experience led me to progress into the role of Activities Lead myself.

Now, I combine my care background with my passion for wellbeing to create meaningful activities that enhance residents’ quality of life, ensuring everyone feels valued, included, and supported.

About Me:
I spend most of my time out with my Friends, they are such a huge part of my life. I enjoy meeting everyone at the local pub on a Friday; this has been a tradition for many years. I have 2 beautiful cats that I adore. I absolutely love animals; I find them to be so therapeutic.

Job Title: Maintenance Manager Joined: 2026

What I do:
As Maintenance Manager at Hartwood House Care Home, I am responsible for ensuring the building, facilities, and equipment are safe, well-maintained, and fully operational at all times. I carry out regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to create a comfortable and secure environment for both residents and staff.

My role includes overseeing health and safety compliance, managing contractors, maintaining records, and responding promptly to any maintenance issues. I also support the wider team by ensuring all systems—from heating and lighting to safety equipment—are functioning efficiently.

Above all, I take pride in helping provide a safe, homely, and welcoming environment where residents can feel comfortable and cared for every day.

My Experience:
I bring over 30 years of engineering experience from my time with BT, where I was based at Heathrow Airport. In this role, I was responsible for maintaining and supporting communication systems and cabling infrastructure, ensuring reliable and efficient service in a high-demand environment.

After relocating further south, I transitioned into the care sector, joining our sister home, Mornington Court, as a Maintenance Assistant. This role allowed me to apply my technical skills in a new setting, focusing on creating a safe and comfortable environment for residents.

I then moved to Hartwood House Care Home, where I now work as Maintenance Manager. In this role, I continue to build on my experience, overseeing all aspects of maintenance and contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the home.

About Me:
Outside of work, I’m a big sports enthusiast, with a real passion for golf—any chance I get, I’ll be out on the course. I also enjoy playing snooker in my spare time.

I’m a dedicated football fan and hold a season ticket with Fulham Football Club, rarely missing a game and always supporting the team.
