Hartwood House arranged a fantastic birthday party on 18th October to celebrate my mum's 100th birthday. They arranged for a singer to entertain Mum and the residents in the morning. They provided wonderful party decorations, a magnificent tea and birthday cake and a separate room to use for family
and friends. In addition to this, the home arranged for the birthday card from the King and Queen to be delivered to the home and presented to her by the Deputy Lieutenant of Hampshire on behalf of the King. A fabulous and memorable day. A big thank you to all staff.

My grandmother was welcomed in with open arms and constantly sings the staff's praises about how helpful, patient and kind everybody is. The room is always tidy and clean and she has everything she needs 24/7. The home provides plenty of activities for the residents to do to keep their minds and bodies
active, but there's no pressure to force anyone to do something they don't want to do or are unable to do. All of her needs are catered to, including doctors appointments, hair cuts, podiatrist appointments etc. The staff really are wonderful and it gives me so much peace of mind knowing my grandmother is well looked after in her final years. Couldn't be happier.
Reply from Charlotte Dean, Home Admissions Advisor at Hartwood House Care HomeThank you for such a lovely review! It is our absolute pleasure to have your Grandmother with us, what a ray of sunshine she is to us all! The activities are such a vital part of the residents care home experience and we strive to have them tailored to their needs. We are so glad that you feel peace of mind knowing that she is in a safe environment and well looked after. She is absolutely thriving here and seeing her make friends and socialise is really wonderful! I will pass all of your kind messages onto the team, thank you again!

What a wonderful community this is, my grandmother is happy, healthy and engaged. It's been amazing to see her improve after assisted living in her twilight years (carers in her home). Hartwood House feel makes me realise how well a community for the elderly can be managed, supporting residents whilst
maintaining dignity for them, and the families.
Thank you very much to all staff and external stakeholders for the service.

Since visiting, we have noticed a great improvement in our loved one. She appears happier and healthier than she has over the last couple of years. She talks about enjoying the food and that she looks forward to the daily activities.
It has made spending time with her much more special as we don't
have to worry that she's being left home alone or what she will eat.

My mother came to Hartwood House for what was to be a 2-week period of 'respite care' for my sisters & myself, who had been looking after her around the clock. This soon changed to palliative care. I cannot praise everyone at Hartwood House enough from the management team, to the wonderful nurses, amazing
carers and the rest of the staff. Their kindness, understanding & compassion have always been present as well as their generosity with their time and allowing us to sleep in another room. They truly are all angels, and I will be forever grateful that they gave us such a haven of peace, calm & loving support as we said farewell to our mother.

My mother arrived at Hartwood at the end of April. She was welcomed warmly and instantly made to feel comfortable. Any request was attended to promptly, with a loving smile and kindness. The quality & variety of menus was extremely high & my mother enjoyed her meals tremendously. The medical care and
attention was exemplary, professional and as her daughter we were reassured that our mother was in the safest most loving hands. We shall be eternally grateful to all at Hartwood House.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.915)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.915) out of 10 for Hartwood House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 65 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 64 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.915 for Hartwood House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (722 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 773 Ratings = 4.915
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hartwood House Care Home is based on 64 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 64 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I started my journey in the care sector as a Care Assistant, gaining invaluable hands-on experience supporting residents and their families. Driven by a desire to make a positive difference, I progressed into a Care Coordinator role before being promoted to Deputy Manager. Each step of my career has strengthened my commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care and supporting teams to provide the best possible experience for those we care for.

About Me
I am incredibly proud to be a mum to my two wonderful sons, who are at the heart of everything I do. Family is very important to me, and I love spending quality time with them whenever I can.
Outside of work, my greatest passion is travelling. I enjoy exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and creating lasting memories with family and friends. In fact, I almost always have my next holiday planned, as having something exciting to look forward to is something I really enjoy. Travelling helps me recharge, gain new perspectives, and bring positivity and enthusiasm into both my personal and professional life.

Job Title: Homes Admissions Advisor Joined: 2024

What I Do:
My role here at Hartwood House is to provide support to anyone enquiring about moving into care and the options that are available to them. As Admissions Advisor at Hartwood House, no two days are ever the same — and that’s exactly what I love about my role. From welcoming families for their first visit, to guiding them through the enquiry process and helping them make informed decisions, I am here to ensure every interaction feels personal, supportive and reassuring.

My Experience:
With five years’ experience in the care sector, I truly feel I have found my calling. Supporting families at what can often be an emotional and uncertain time is something I consider both a responsibility and a privilege.

Before moving into care, I worked in hospitality, where I developed a genuine passion for working with people and delivering exceptional service. That background has shaped my approach — I believe families should feel listened to, valued and completely at ease from their very first conversation with us.

For me, this role is about more than admissions; it’s about building trust, creating relationships and helping families feel confident that Hartwood House is the right place for their loved one.

Job Title: Activities Lead Joined: 2026

What I do:
As an Activities and Wellbeing Coordinator at Hartwood House, I am passionate about creating a vibrant, engaging, and person-centred environment for residents. My role focuses on enhancing quality of life through meaningful activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.

I design and deliver a diverse programme tailored to individual interests, abilities, and life histories—ranging from creative arts and gentle exercise to social events and community connections. I believe that every moment matters, and I strive to ensure each resident feels valued and included.

My Experience:
I began my career in care shortly after finishing my education, starting as a Care Assistant. In this role, I discovered a passion for engaging residents beyond their daily care, particularly through activities that brought enjoyment, connection, and purpose to their day.
I began supporting the Activities Lead and quickly grew in confidence and creativity, learning how to plan and deliver inclusive, engaging programmes tailored to individual needs and interests. This experience led me to progress into the role of Activities Lead myself.

Now, I combine my care background with my passion for wellbeing to create meaningful activities that enhance residents’ quality of life, ensuring everyone feels valued, included, and supported.

About Me:
I spend most of my time out with my Friends, they are such a huge part of my life. I enjoy meeting everyone at the local pub on a Friday; this has been a tradition for many years. I have 2 beautiful cats that I adore. I absolutely love animals; I find them to be so therapeutic.

I carry out regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to create a comfortable and secure environment for both residents and staff.

My role includes overseeing health and safety compliance, managing contractors, maintaining records, and responding promptly to any maintenance issues. I also support the wider team by ensuring all systems—from heating and lighting to safety equipment—are functioning efficiently.
