Staff at The Beeches need to be commended for their handling of the implementation of all the changes and extra demands on their time during the COVID-19 pandemic. They have done everything necessary and more to keep residents safe and to keep morale lifted. I know that staff have had to work extra hard for longer, and for more shifts to keep everything running, for which we are very grateful. My mum hasn't coped with it all well, and despite the extra demands on their time, they have worked hard to try to help her through it all.
We look forward to the relaxation of at least some of the measures they have had to take, and I have complete confidence in management in being able to make the decisions to do so at the right time.

Thank you.

These past few months have been very difficult for everyone and The Beeches have risen to the challenge. I am confident that residents are being cared for in the best possible way to keep them safe and well. The caring staff are doing a wonderful job, for which I am very grateful. We’ve received regular email updates and are able to call and speak to someone should we have any concerns.

The facilities at The Beeches are excellent and make it a very comfortable environment for residents and their families. During the pandemic communication from The Beeches has been excellent and has helped me to be confident about the measures taken to keep the residents safe, looked after and even entertained.
As my mother reached the end of her life I was permitted to visit her. The care that the staff were taking to make her comfortable was very comforting and I know that everything possible was done to make sure that she was in a familiar and peaceful environment. The staff also took time to make sure that I knew the details of her care and kept in touch with us during her final decline.

The staff were also very caring towards me and looked after me during my visits to my mother.

My Father was a resident of the Woodlands Community in The Beeches from July 2018 to his death Aug 2019. The standard of care and support he received were exemplary and I cannot speak highly enough of the manager and team of this unit. The staff formed a very close relationship with my father which made all the difference to his quality of life. He was always treated with kindness, compassion and respect. Three of the staff were with me and my father when he died and throughout this time both my father and myself had an amazing level of support and care.
The team in Woodlands became my Family and were an incredible support to me through a very difficult period.
Dementia is a cruel illness, but the staff made it manageable for both my father and myself.

I cannot recommend this team highly enough.

Your care and stimulation have provided my mother with a new lease of life. It has been a great consolation to us, her children, to know and see how well she is cared for and yet maintains her independence.

Thank you so much.

My experience with this home has been outstanding from the care to the facilities - it really felt like home, and the end of life care was exceptional - such dignity, compassion and kindness, we always felt Mum was looked after. It was so hard to put Mum into a home and see her gradual decline with Alzheimer’s, but the staff encourage as much independence as possible.

My mum moved to The Beeches after a difficult time in her life. The transformation in her is amazing thanks to all the hard work of the team on Woodlands and also the hard work of the manager in helping us with my mum's move. The pride the staff have in taking care of the residents puts other care homes to shame. The Beeches sets standards other homes should aspire to be like. Thank you.

The Beeches feels like a plush hotel. A doctor at Basildon Hospital referred to it as The Ritz of care homes. Accommodation is first class. Dining is a delight. Entertainment is excellent. Camaraderie is great. The staff are excellent. Nothing is too much trouble. They looked after my mum with love and affection. We all felt very much a part of a big family.

The dementia care team at The Beeches provide excellent care to the residents, but their care and support to my family during my mother's last few days before she died was exceptional. Mum was progressively deteriorating but was never in pain, never alone and surrounded by love. The staff went way beyond their professional remit and it was clear how much they cared about Mum. We never felt alone or concerned, quite the opposite. Many tears were shed amongst us all but also laughter and joy. Mum, if she had any awareness, would have felt this. Dementia is a cruel illness that strips away the person that was but it was always reassuring to know that when we were not there, we knew Mum was being very well cared for.

The care that my Aunt received at the Beeches was of the highest possible standard. All the staff are caring, compassionate and incredibly kind. The standards of cleanliness, food preparation and general care are exactly what anyone would want when helping a loved one to make the difficult decision to move out of their own home. I would recommend The Beeches to anyone looking for a care home in the Brentwood area.

I recently made twice daily visits to my sister during two weeks spent at Brentwood. Prior to that, I had visited my sister and her husband a number of times over the previous 3 years before his passing last month. I had always been impressed by the warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere within The Beeches and the beautiful, spacious and attractively decorated and furnished rooms and leisure areas. Most recently, I had spent the days chatting and joining in activities with my sister and other residents, and all personnel there I hold in the highest regard - no matter their role - each was dedicated, delightful and welcoming which couldn’t help but “rub off” on all those they care for. If there was a score - I would have to give them at least 100%.

My Dad came to The Beeches just 3 weeks ago after a very traumatic hospital stay. The whole family are thrilled to see the progress he has made, which is due to the wonderful care and kindness of your staff. Every day we find him dressed and well presented. He tells us that staff take an interest in his life and the pressure sores he got from his hospital stay are beginning to heal. We cannot recommend The Beeches highly enough. Thank you.

We have visited our friend on many occasions and have always been impressed with the surroundings, along with the service. As I am limited to the characters I can use, I cannot explain in full everything that we would like to address:
1. Food, quality and presentation
2. Staff shortages, one lady we understand looking after two floors of residents
3. Security, signing in process

As mentioned we would like to explain in full but as we are only allowed up to 1,000 characters, it is difficult to explain our concerns. We hope these issues will be addressed. Many thanks.

My aunt arrived as an urgent respite care resident and was warmly received. She has since become a permanent resident and could not be happier. The attitude and care shown by all the staff is exemplary. Nurses are so efficient and kind, it makes all the medical issues so much easier for her to tolerate. Everyone, without exception, has been wonderful.

The acting manager is always happy to give time to meet with family or respond to emails regarding any concerns in a timely and sympathetic manner. There are numerous members of staff in all departments (including care and finance) who can be contacted via email individually regarding queries and these emails are always answered. The environment is beautiful and clean. Staff are friendly.

The care I received through the journey of end of life treatment with my mother was way beyond what I would have expected. The staff and management all rallied myself and my family and supported along the emotional journey.

I can wholeheartedly say I have never met such caring people who made the end of life experience relaxed and supported.

Jana KrapkovaJob Title:Dementia Care ManagerJoined: 2015
After finishing a Business Course in the Czech Republic, I started as a carer, looking after people with mental health problems.

When I moved to England, in 2007, I originally worked as a carer in a home near Watford. At the time, my manager offered me the position of Senior Carer/Training Co-Ordinator in Romford, so I relocated to Essex.

I was looking after young, physically disabled people. I found my passion for palliative care as we worked closely with St Francis Hospice.

Years later I was promoted to Home Based Trainer and provided mandatory training to all staff. I had the opportunity to travel around different homes in the area and study a course provided by Bradford University: “Person First, Dementia Second”. After that, I knew I had to go back into care.

I have been at The Beeches since October 2015. I started as a Lead Carer and have now worked my way up as a Dementia Care Manager. I love it here and really feel like I make a difference to our residents.

*We are proud to add that Jana won the Dementia Care Manager at The National Care Awards 2017

My passion is providing excellent service, making sure families and prospective residents are guided and supported from first contact throughout the process to move in and then for their continued stay.

The decision to move yourself or a loved one into care can be a bewildering, emotional and sometimes difficult one and it's my job to make that decision an informed and peaceful one for all involved.

I am privileged to work with a team who’s knowledge, experience, empathy and understanding is second to none.

I started here at The Beeches in 2013 as a Housekeeper and worked myself up to Housekeeping Manager within a year.

I’ve worked in the care industry for 10 years and before that in Retail. I strive to provide our residents with the best service and a lovely clean environment. I look at our residents being an extended family to me and feel privileged to see them daily.

I’m proud to be part of a fantastic team here at The Beeches.
