After weeks of queries being not dealt with about missing items and safeguarding issues there was little or no communication.
We had to prompt staff to contact doctors for mum on two occasions.
On our insistence She was finally admitted to hospital in a very poor state of health in January. We took the decision that mum could not return to Avalon. She remains in hospital and has sadly not returned to her baseline.
Her decline over the past few months has been quite frightening.
The management seem indifferent to mums current situation or the incidents leading up to this point. They do not appear to want to address any issues raised and have shown no interest in how mum is doing since being admitted to hospital.

The receptionists and care staff are friendly and helpful but despite this I would not recommend this home.

Not completely happy with a few niggles, such as lost items, no communication as to them being looked for - reported back in September 2025 and have asked several times and no further on.

Room also not clean (floor) and without some essentials, and mum left late into morning on bed.

It was a hard decision to commit my dear mum's care to a nursing home but I couldn't have chosen better. The comfort and support that both she and my family have received from both management and staff has been superb.
The surroundings are bright and cheerful and visitors are always made so welcome. Mum is so well cared for and the standard of food and activities is second to none. The staff are all so patient and kind - the atmosphere is just so warm and friendly. I now have peace of mind and no longer worry about her having a fall or forgetting her medication.

Well done Avalon for providing such a lovely caring place.

My mum was admitted in April 2024 with advanced Alzheimer's. The care she receives at Avalon Nursing Home is exemplary and far beyond our expectations. There is genuine love and affection for all residents and a determination to ensure that they are treated as individuals at all times and respected as such. I can't recommend Avalon highly enough and the staff team are just amazing.

My mum was in this home for a very short period of time before she passed away. All the staff went above and beyond to make my mum's last few days comfortable and contented. Even after my mum passed the support I am receiving from the management staff is absolutely unbelievable. Such kindhearted caring people without a doubt the best care home in its area.

My mum was a resident here until she died on the 3rd of April. All I can say is that every single one of the staff is incredible. They are so caring, happy and amazing. They not only looked after my mum well, they looked after me and my family well. Each resident is treated as an individual in one big happy family. I couldn't have got anywhere better to care for my mum. My thanks go out to every single member of staff, not just care staff but the ladies on reception and cooks, cleaners and the ladies that do the washing. Thank you, you're all brilliant.

I can't thank Avalon enough for the care they are giving my mother-in-law. She has advanced Alzheimer's and is quite a handful in many ways. All of the staff are kind, thoughtful and patient with her. She can't communicate her needs or understand either but everything necessary for her daily care is done with a smile. As relatives we feel totally at ease leaving her in Avalon's care and are always kept informed of everything that happens with her. The carers go above and beyond to make her happy even taking her out in a wheelchair for a change of scenery. Thank you Avalon for giving us peace of mind.

My husband, unfortunately, only spent nine weeks at Avalon Nursing Home before he passed away unexpectedly in July. I cannot praise the staff at Avalon highly enough for the care and love they showed to him, to me and to my family. Nothing was too much for them. It meant those last nine weeks I was able to spend quality time with him as his wife and not his carer. These carers do not get enough praise for the fantastic service they give.

We moved my mother to Avalon as her care needs were increasing. The managers and staff were excellent throughout from assessing her needs prior to entry through to supporting her passing with care and dignity.
Toward the end Mum's behaviour became very challenging and this was mitigated by the trusted relationships that her carers had built with her.
When first arriving at Avalon it was evident that the building and location were less attractive than the many other care homes we visited. However, from the point at which when we entered the building, we witnessed the genuine care and attention provided to patients and, as proved correct, it was a great choice for Mum.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Avalon Care Home.
