I have always found the care at Avonbourne excellent.
The staff are always very friendly and helpful.

My husband now needs hoisting as he is too weak to stand but the staff cope very well with his needs. There is always a welcome when I visit, especially from two members of staff in particular. I have visited other care homes and I am sure this is the best.

My relative has been here 3 years. When she arrived she was depressed, confused and underweight. The transformation has been remarkable and she loves it here. My wife and I are comfortable that she is cared for and happy - we are able to sleep at night and enjoy our lives without worrying.

In the 20 months that I have known the home, I have seen huge improvements, particularly over the last year, with excellent activity sessions, more imaginative food and consistency in staff. Generally, the approach to caring is good, especially helpful and reassuring if you live a long distance and cannot visit regularly.

Our mother now refers to Avonbourne as 'home'.

All the staff are unfailingly cheerful, caring and wonderfully kind. The lack of agency staff gives a good feeling of continuity. We couldn't have found anywhere better for Mum and recommend it whenever an opportunity arises!

My mother-in-law has been staying at Avonbourne after a hospital stay. She has thoroughly enjoyed her stay and felt that her care has been excellent, "like living in a hotel". She has engaged with the various activities and has been eating really well. Thank you to everyone who has helped to support her during this time.

Mum came into Avonbourne Care from hospital awaiting a care package. From day one the care given was amazing. They changed mine and my mothers views on care homes.
The complete staff nursing, management, cleaners, laundry, chefs, and reception were friendly, warm and kind.

The entertainment was great; singing, arts and crafts, games including ten pin bowling, a visiting theatre, so much life going on. The home's rooms are clean, each having a wet room. Mum loved it there, she could be social or have quiet time. Mum would have loved to stay but unfortunately, it was not possible. I can only thank the staff yet again for their wonderful care, they taught me a lot of things to make my mums life better in the future.

We had concerns when Mum needed to go into residential care - but we have none now. Staff are friendly, supportive, always smiling and happy to help. Food is varied and plentiful - facilities are clean and fresh and full use is made of all area's to maximise and help residents enjoyment of their days.

Concerns we rais (very small) are rectified. Mum is happy and safe and well cared for - just what we needed for her.

I am only able to visit at weekends but the staff are always welcoming, helpful and friendly.

My grandmother is happy well cared for and tells me all about the wonderful activities she enjoys. She has a lovely social group and enjoys her meals. She also enjoys a regular bath (jacuzzi) which she loves and I can tell she feels very well cared for and supported.

From the time that I brought Dad to visit the home, he knew that he wanted to spend the final chapter of his life here. There is such a friendly atmosphere in the home. From the day of admission, he has been treated with dignity. He loves the food. His room is really bright and he has been able to bring his own possessions to make it his home. The rooms and communal areas are spotlessly clean. A fantastic home.

Not enough staff. Activities improving gradually. Staff aren't always experienced (a lot of agency staff used) and don't know all the residents that well. My mum is bored a lot of the time and needs stimulation and company. This would prevent her from becoming agitated. She is a lovely, caring person but the illness has changed her and it's so sad to see that she isn't very happy sometimes. She loves to sing and dance so today has been perfect for her. More time spent with the residents would improve many of their behaviours.

Moved mum here from another care home in Salisbury which did not provide her with the little care she needed, never enough staff.
We moved mum a week ago and so far the treatment and general care shown to mum has been good.

The home itself is being well maintained and cleaned. There seems to be things going on to keep mum more interested.

My mother was assessed and welcomed to the home which was warm, clean and homely. Though her stay was short, she would not hesitate to return again, so much so, she did not want to leave at the end of her stay.

I also feel she was safe there and she had social activities which were not available in her own home and this was a relief for my peace of mind. It was a very good experience for both of us. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful.
