My mother is suffering from dementia and when living alone had terrible panic attacks. Since moving into Buckingham Lodge, she has calmed down considerably. She's happy and healthy and eats much better. Buckingham Lodge is always clean and bright but the best thing for my mum is that all the staff are
so happy and patient and helpful.

Amazing staff and management. Very clean and comfortable. I feel that my wife is being given the best care and we, as a family, liaise with all the team to ensure we're all communicating. My wife recently had her birthday and the catering team made her a fabulous cake and celebrated her birthday. I
would recommend the care home highly. We have never experienced and problem at all.

My nanna has been at Buckingham Lodge for a little while now and she has settled in really well with the help of the staff and the manager, they are always friendly and supportive with my nanna and family alike, they keep you updated when she is feeling unwell or has had to see a doctor which I really
appreciate. The improvement in my nanna from living alone to living at Buckingham Lodge is amazing, she is so much brighter and happier there. I am grateful to everyone at the home for everything they do.

After more than thirty years living alone, with the help of visiting care for the past few years, it was time Mum had the full-time care she so desperately needed. As a family, we had reservations she would settle into her new life at Buckingham Lodge. How wrong were we? She is so happy, in fact, constantly
tells us how happy she is to be living with her friends, her appetite is back and is so enjoying the delicious meals. The entertainment is giving Mum great joy, just loves a singalong with the visiting entertainers.
She so enjoys having her hair done by the hairdresser, getting her nails done and choosing a nice outfit for the day. The staff are all so caring and treat all the residents and visitors with warmth and respect.
Thank you to the manager and all the team for all your hard work and dedication.
Feel the 'sparkle' has returned to Mum's life for which we are eternally grateful.

Absolutely cannot recommend this care home enough! Each and every one of the staff here goes above and beyond their role. Caring, compassionate, friendly, listens, and always has the time for any queries/issues. The management is faultless and very understanding. I'm happy as I know my mum is being
cared for with the utmost respect. The rooms, food, facilities, and cleanliness are all amazing.

My husband’s grandmother resides at Buckingham Lodge. Since she moved, her general well-being has drastically improved and she has found her joy for life again. She smiles, is at peace and makes it a point each time to mention how very fortunate she feels to live there. “You know how in every place
there is that one person who gets on your nerves? Well, not here. Everyone is so lovely. They never tell me off, they are always friendly and I am really lucky to be here.” During our visits, we have found this to be true – everyone knows her by name (as well as knowing her many quirks) and they care for her with patience, respect, humour and so much love. The meals are well-balanced and healthy, with a variety of choices to cater for the residents’ tastes. The atmosphere is one of warmth and care, with many personalised touches to make it feel homely. As an extended family member who lives so far away, it gives me peace of mind to know she is happy and cared for. Thank you from the heart.

My nanna is really well taken care of at Buckingham Lodge. She tells me every time I see her that the staff are all really nice, she thinks she’s lucky to be there and loves living there. The meals she’s provided are really healthy and the staff are always friendly and considerate to her. I’m really
grateful to Buckingham Lodge for taking care of her and making an environment that she’s happy in.

My mum has been in this excellent care home for just over 4 years after the sudden loss of my father. I love visiting her here as it’s like a second home to me and my family. She is well cared for and the staff are friendly, approachable and hardworking! I can relax as I know she is happy, safe and
well looked after. I wouldn’t want her anywhere else.

We would thoroughly recommend Buckingham Lodge to anyone looking at care for their relative. My nan spent the last 18 months of her life at Buckingham Lodge Care Home, it was a very hard decision to make putting Nan into care but Buckingham Lodge was definitely the right choice. Nan's well-being, dignity
and happiness was considered throughout and she settled in very quickly.
The staff's compassion, dedication, and professionalism was evident in every interaction we have had with them. Their commitment to ensuring her comfort, safety, and well-being did not go unnoticed, and it brought comfort to our family knowing she was in such capable hands. Their kindness and empathy extended not only to her but also to our family, always making us feel welcome at the home and involved in her care.
The home provided a variety of activities and Nan was always pleased with the food served.
Thank you!

Mum moved into Buckingham Lodge Care Home about six months ago after a spell of not coping on her own at home and being admitted to hospital. I can't believe how much Mum has improved in her time in the home. Mum is now eating well after so long of not wanting to eat at all and really enjoys the meals.
She has amazing carers who look after her so well, and the relationships she has developed with everyone there are so lovely to see.
I am always kept informed of any concerns the carers may have, and they are always happy to chat about what is important to Mum and find out who she really is. I know that whenever I visit, Mum will be tidy, hair done (she loves having the hairdressers there), nails done and wearing her earrings.
There is always so much going on, and it is great to see the updates on social media of Mum joining in with the games and events that have taken place since she has been there.
I can't rate the team at Buckingham Lodge highly enough.

In January 2023, when my sister and I reached the sad decision that we could no longer support Mum and Dad in their home, we enquired at Buckingham Lodge regarding respite care as a taster for a permanent solution.
From that moment on, the manager and all the wonderful staff made us very welcome. Mum
and Dad settled in immediately and are now very well cared for happy permanent residents.
All the staff are very friendly, approachable and caring. There are lots of activities and the food is amazing.
Thank you Buckingham Lodge for making a difficult decision for us easy.

Mum and Dad have now been in Buckingham Lodge Care Home for nine months and we are delighted that it has now been confirmed that they can stay there. Having initially moved into Buckingham Lodge for a period of respite care, they both settled in really quickly and the team of carers and team leaders
were so caring and supportive that it quickly became clear that this was a great place for them and they both wanted to stay. The team are all really kind and patient, they respond quickly and efficiently to patients' needs and always have time to chat to us when we visit. The communication from them about any health concerns has been timely and helpful and it is incredibly reassuring to know Mum and Dad are so well looked after.
All of the teams play their role, the housekeeping team ensures Mum and Dad's rooms are clear and fresh and the catering team do an amazing job - the food is fantastic!
Thank you to all the teams - you do a brilliant job!

My mum has now been in the care home for over 2 years. In that time a few changes have been made. Firstly a new manager came along, and he made a few good changes. Staffing, plus better and more activities which keep the residents interested and happy. The staff sometimes take some of the residents
out on trips or just out for a walk.
As for the staff, they are so friendly, helpful, efficient and very thoughtful with the residents' needs.
The care home has a lovely atmosphere and have flexible visiting times.
The staff have made the care home very comfortable for the residents. My mum is very happy with her room and has many of her personal items in there.
I am very happy with the care and attention my mum receives from Buckingham Lodge staff, I couldn't find a better place for her to be in.

Buckingham Lodge Care Home is a fantastic care home. Although my dad has only been there for a relatively short time the manager, team leaders, carers and all staff have gone above and beyond expectations with Dad's transition into where he already calls home.
He feels comfortable, safe and happy due
to high standard of care, kindness, compassion he receives from all staff delivered with professionalism and personable approach.
We as a family can phone or visit at anytime where there is always the manager or team leader to discuss anything with if needed.
The food and menu choice is first class and so much of it, Dad loves his food. The home is has a comfortable homely feel which is clean and tidy throughout and Dad's room already feels like home from home where staff have again gone above and beyond with shelving for his possessions of sentiment and pictures. I would not hesitate to recommend Buckingham Lodge it is an absolutely amazing home.

Granddad has been at Buckingham Lodge for three months and I would highly recommend it. We did have some reservations to start with (to be expected when trusting someone with your loved one), but we needn't have worried. We were made to feel welcome from the very first visit and Granddad settled instantly.
It's nice to see him engaging with other residents and activities. Granddad has nothing but praise for all staff and after visiting daily, I can see why. Buckingham Lodge is very clean and the food is to Granddad's liking too. We are updated regularly on his well-being and if a doctor is needed, staff will make sure he is seen. The management is clearly doing a great job along with all staff members. Nothing is too much trouble. It's nice to know Granddad is receiving the care he deserves.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.953)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.953) out of 10 for Buckingham Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.953 for Buckingham Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (326 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 339 Ratings = 4.953
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Buckingham Lodge is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2022

Hello!
My name is Simon, and I am the Home Manager at Buckingham Lodge.

Having worked across all of the different care sectors, I believe I have gained a good understanding of the dilemmas faced by those in our care and also an appreciation of how daunting it must be to move from the family home into residential care. The thought that I am in a privileged position to be able to influence and have a positive impact on people’s lives is very motivating and rewarding for me. If we can put the individual at the centre of all that we do, we can ensure that our residents are fully involved in all of our decision-making processes, enabling us to deliver care and support that is as individual as they are.

I am also passionate about supporting our staff to develop and to achieve to the best of their ability. If we have a happy and engaged staff team, it follows that we should have happy, well-cared-for residents and a happy home.

I look forward to meeting you soon.
