My mum has now been in the care home for over 2 years. In that time a few changes have been made. Firstly a new manager came along, and he made a few good changes. Staffing, plus better and more activities which keep the residents interested and happy. The staff sometimes take some of the residents out on trips or just out for a walk.
As for the staff, they are so friendly, helpful, efficient and very thoughtful with the residents' needs.
The care home has a lovely atmosphere and have flexible visiting times.
The staff have made the care home very comfortable for the residents. My mum is very happy with her room and has many of her personal items in there.

I am very happy with the care and attention my mum receives from Buckingham Lodge staff, I couldn't find a better place for her to be in.

Excellent in all respects. A safe haven for my elderly mother who is now being care for in the best way. A happy, comfortable and safe place that Mum now calls home. Delightful staff who all have a passion for giving the highest quality of care.

Buckingham Lodge Care Home is a fantastic care home. Although my dad has only been there for a relatively short time the manager, team leaders, carers and all staff have gone above and beyond expectations with Dad's transition into where he already calls home.
He feels comfortable, safe and happy due to high standard of care, kindness, compassion he receives from all staff delivered with professionalism and personable approach.
We as a family can phone or visit at anytime where there is always the manager or team leader to discuss anything with if needed.

The food and menu choice is first class and so much of it, Dad loves his food. The home is has a comfortable homely feel which is clean and tidy throughout and Dad's room already feels like home from home where staff have again gone above and beyond with shelving for his possessions of sentiment and pictures. I would not hesitate to recommend Buckingham Lodge it is an absolutely amazing home.

Granddad has been at Buckingham Lodge for three months and I would highly recommend it. We did have some reservations to start with (to be expected when trusting someone with your loved one), but we needn't have worried. We were made to feel welcome from the very first visit and Granddad settled instantly. It's nice to see him engaging with other residents and activities. Granddad has nothing but praise for all staff and after visiting daily, I can see why. Buckingham Lodge is very clean and the food is to Granddad's liking too. We are updated regularly on his well-being and if a doctor is needed, staff will make sure he is seen. The management is clearly doing a great job along with all staff members. Nothing is too much trouble. It's nice to know Granddad is receiving the care he deserves.

I moved my husband into the home on 8th October 2022. The welcome he received was amazing. We were assured and put at ease that he would be well cared for. I have been in a couple of times since and he is happy. The manager and his team are fantastic and at this point in time, I have no concerns.

Buckingham Lodge took in my mother for respite care which turned into permanent care until the time of her recent death. Throughout her time there, she was treated with the utmost friendliness and respect, and her medical needs were very well met, both by the staff and by their calling in the GP/community nurses whenever appropriate. For periods when I was out of the country, staff sent me email medical updates without even the need for prompts. I can honestly say they went 'above and beyond my expectations and that is a testament to high-quality management and a staff ethic of professional care and compassion. The environment within the building is also excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending Buckingham Lodge at this time.

Mum had two weeks respite care. When I collected her, it was obvious that she had enjoyed the stay. I spoke to several staff who had clearly interacted with her during her stay and were able to tell me about the things she had enjoyed. The room (and the whole lodge) was clean and very well maintained. Overall, a very positive experience and I will certainly use Buckingham Lodge again in the future.

I have nothing but praise for Buckingham Lodge. Dad spent respite here and we wouldn't have wanted him to be anywhere else for his permanent home. The manager is so caring and patient and manages his staff well. They all work with a smile and seem so happy in their jobs. The staff have gone above and beyond to make my dad's transition to permanent care, a good experience and he has settled so well. Their personal care of him has been wonderful too. He is being extremely well looked after, which gives us peace of mind. Thank you.

Mum enjoyed respite care so much at the lodge, it was the obvious choice when she could no longer live alone in her own home. The entire team are great and during lockdown, I had no concerns as I knew she was being well cared for. Mums final days were peaceful, the care and love she received from everyone was superb. I am glad I chose Buckingham Lodge for my mum as I was always happy with the service she and I received. I fully recommend the care home.

My nan Betty came to Buckingham Lodge in March 2022 and was made to feel very welcome by all of the staff. She settled in quite quickly and was very comfortable in her room. All of the staff are very friendly and kind, nothing is too much trouble for them. They kept us updated on any changes or concerns which was very reassuring for us. It is never easy making a decision to put a loved one into care but we definitely made the right decision using Buckingham Lodge.
Sadly nan passed away in August, but we take comfort knowing she was safe & well cared for right up until the end.

We have no hesitation in recommending them.

My mother moved into Buckingham Lodge in 2016. She has spent almost six very happy years living there very happily. I cannot fault the care she has received in those years. Sadly, she passed away on the 3rd of July 2022. Her end-of-life care was so exceptional.

This was my Mum’s first experience of respite care. She was understandably apprehensive, but thoroughly enjoyed her week and said she would be very happy to go again. The staff were all lovely. Extremely welcoming, and helpful. The home seemed to be run very efficiently and professionally, nothing was too much trouble. Mum said the food was very good, with plenty of choices and the chef was only too happy to make something if the menu wasn’t suitable. The room was nice with a good quality en suite and plenty of wardrobe/drawer space. Mum was made to feel very welcome. We will definitely use Buckingham Lodge again, and would highly recommend it.

When my family arrived at Buckingham Lodge Care Home, we were greeted with sincere and caring staff. This was our first respite break for our mum who suffers from vascular dementia. They made my mum feel very comfortable and relaxed during her stay. The staff were reassuring and very attentive, which helped us enormously, as this is a very upsetting and difficult time for everyone. The Lodge was very clean and tidy, nothing was too much trouble and the food was excellent. We, as a family would highly recommend this care home. We will definitely be returning for future respites for my mum.

I visited Buckingham Lodge Care Home to visit a resident, who was celebrating her 80th Birthday.

I had already heard from her daughter what a fabulous place it was and how good the staff were and whilst it was only a visit, I have to agree wholeheartedly! I was delighted that the home implemented careful covid procedures upon entry, but were also extremely welcoming. Seeing a card, presents and giant 80th Birthday badge, the staff member made a big fuss that it was another visitor for my friend and was seriously excited for her, when I said I was not expected, but was a neighbour of hers from over 20 years ago! I was led to her room and everything was meticulously clean and all the residents looked really happy. A little later, a number of staff came in with the most beautiful homemade cake, singing happy birthday! It was obvious that they cared deeply and you could see how comfortable my friend was with them. Absolutely brilliant and congratulations to all the staff!

My nan has been a resident in the home for over a year now, putting someone in a home is a heart-wrenching experience especially as we were in the middle of lockdown and couldn’t settle her in or visit. My grandad had previously been in Buckingham Lodge so we knew the home and felt after visiting lots that Buckingham Lodge definitely was the best, and we still believe this, in lockdown staff were like warriors, battling against staff shortages, a pandemic that was traumatizing the world, yet to my knowledge no residents caught COVID. I’m pretty sure they kept their whole community safe… now how many homes/communities/establishments, etc can say that. Staff are warm and welcoming and look after a very challenging client group, my nan does many activities in the day and sadly forgets them by evening, this doesn’t deter the staff they continue where they can to provide a structured day. No home is perfect, but patients are put first here, and that’s exactly as it should be.

During what has been the most incredibly difficult of times, the staff at Buckingham Lodge have been amazing! When I was unable to visit my mother during lockdown, I received regular updates regarding her wellbeing from the Team Leader. These phone calls and emails, as well as photographs, were a huge comfort throughout those weeks when we were unable to visit our families. This vital communication helped enormously. Carers face the most considerable challenges on a daily basis and to continue to provide such a great service during a pandemic is a credit to them all. Thank you so very much for your hard work and continual care and patience.

Simon Meredith
Simon MeredithJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2022
Hello!

My name is Simon, and I am the Home Manager at Buckingham Lodge.

Having worked across all of the different care sectors, I believe I have gained a good understanding of the dilemmas faced by those in our care and also an appreciation of how daunting it must be to move from the family home into residential care. The thought that I am in a privileged position to be able to influence and have a positive impact on people’s lives is very motivating and rewarding for me. If we can put the individual at the centre of all that we do, we can ensure that our residents are fully involved in all of our decision-making processes, enabling us to deliver care and support that is as individual as they are.

I am also passionate about supporting our staff to develop and to achieve to the best of their ability. If we have a happy and engaged staff team, it follows that we should have happy, well-cared-for residents and a happy home.

I look forward to meeting you soon.

Abbey Gallagher
Abbey GallagherJob Title:DeputyJoined: 2019

Hello,

My name is Abbey Gallagher, and I am the Deputy Manager at Buckingham Lodge care home.

My care journey started in 2019, and I started working in the community as a domiciliary carer, where I was supporting people in their own homes. I then progressed to supervisor and care coordinator. However, I then wanted to widen my knowledge and experience and started my journey with Anchor at Buckingham Lodge in December 2019 as a care assistant. Within 6 months, I progressed to a Team leader and then, in September 2023, became deputy manager.

I have a passion for person-centred care and ensuring that all of our residents are able to be supported in a way in which they are at the heart of all the support we offer them. My favourite time of year at Buckingham Lodge is the Christmas period, when we personally centre all our Christmas presents from the home to the residents and get them gifts that are meaningful or person-centred to them. This has been a tradition that I started as a team leader during Covid lockdown in 2020 and continued ever since!

Away from work, I am married and have a one-year-old daughter who keeps me busy! I also enjoy spending any time where possible in sunnier climates and by the sea!

Laya Korambath
Laya KorambathJob Title:AdministratorJoined: 2021

Hi, I am Laya, and I have been with Anchor for the past five years. I began my career with the organisation as a Receptionist at Nelson Lodge, Cambs. I later moved to Buckingham Lodge, Aylesbury, where I progressed to the position of Home Administrator.

I have always been passionate about meeting people and supporting them to the best of my ability. I have also had the opportunity to work alongside the Home Manager and Deputy Manager, which has helped me further develop my skills and understanding of the home’s operations.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my son and husband. I enjoy going outdoors, walking, and running.
