The staff at Buckingham Lodge are kind and caring. This is a well run Home. There are enough staff to provide proper care for the residents. The Home is well run and the Manager very helpful. We used this Home for respite care and would be happy to return and to recommend it to others.

Mum moved into BL in June 2015, one of the first residents at this new care home. Everyone at BL helped Mum to settle in, they are very attentive to the residents needs and we feel that Mum is now happy and content. The building is very light and bright, Mum's room is very well equipped and decorated,
there is even a small fridge incorporated into the furnishings! The food is very good, all cooked from fresh ingredients. Family are invited to join their relatives for Sunday lunch, tables in the restaurant are laid with cloth table cloths and napkins, that along with the food make Sunday lunch a very enjoyable experience. Residents are encouraged to participate in various activities so they are NOT left to sit around staring into space or sleeping. The acid test - could I live there, definitely Yes!

My husband had two weeks respite at Buckingham Lodge. Over the last 5 years we have tried 6/7 different homes and this is the only one he would go back to so many, many thanks to all the staff for taking great care of him and giving me a much appreciated break with peace of mind!

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.950)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.950) out of 10 for Buckingham Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.950 for Buckingham Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (325 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 339 Ratings = 4.95
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Buckingham Lodge is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2022

Hello!
My name is Simon, and I am the Home Manager at Buckingham Lodge.

Having worked across all of the different care sectors, I believe I have gained a good understanding of the dilemmas faced by those in our care and also an appreciation of how daunting it must be to move from the family home into residential care. The thought that I am in a privileged position to be able to influence and have a positive impact on people’s lives is very motivating and rewarding for me. If we can put the individual at the centre of all that we do, we can ensure that our residents are fully involved in all of our decision-making processes, enabling us to deliver care and support that is as individual as they are.

I am also passionate about supporting our staff to develop and to achieve to the best of their ability. If we have a happy and engaged staff team, it follows that we should have happy, well-cared-for residents and a happy home.

I look forward to meeting you soon.

Job Title: Deputy Joined: 2019

Hello,

My name is Abbey Gallagher, and I am the Deputy Manager at Buckingham Lodge care home.

My care journey started in 2019, and I started working in the community as a domiciliary carer, where I was supporting people in their own homes. I then progressed to supervisor and care coordinator. However, I then wanted to widen my knowledge and experience and started my journey with Anchor at Buckingham Lodge in December 2019 as a care assistant. Within 6 months, I progressed to a Team leader and then, in September 2023, became deputy manager.

I have a passion for person-centred care and ensuring that all of our residents are able to be supported in a way in which they are at the heart of all the support we offer them. My favourite time of year at Buckingham Lodge is the Christmas period, when we personally centre all our Christmas presents from the home to the residents and get them gifts that are meaningful or person-centred to them. This has been a tradition that I started as a team leader during Covid lockdown in 2020 and continued ever since!

Away from work, I am married and have a one-year-old daughter who keeps me busy! I also enjoy spending any time where possible in sunnier climates and by the sea!

Hi, I am Laya, and I have been with Anchor for the past five years. I began my career with the organisation as a Receptionist at Nelson Lodge, Cambs. I later moved to Buckingham Lodge, Aylesbury, where I progressed to the position of Home Administrator.

I have always been passionate about meeting people and supporting them to the best of my ability. I have also had the opportunity to work alongside the Home Manager and Deputy Manager, which has helped me further develop my skills and understanding of the home’s operations.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my son and husband. I enjoy going outdoors, walking, and running.
