Making the decision regarding our mother's future was possibly the most difficult decision my sister and I had to make. Upon meeting the Manager this was made a whole lot easier. His understanding and attention to detail reassured us that all Mum's needs would be met. We honestly couldn't wish for a better place. The staff are all so welcoming and friendly. Visiting Mum is a real pleasure and it is lovely to see her so settled and happy. Thank you.

We were welcomed at the reception in a very friendly fashion and all the carers we met were very kind and patient. My aunt complained about one of the carers who was a bit bossy but was otherwise happy with the way she was looked after and the entertainment on offer. She complained a bit about the boring food which she found a bit monotonous.

Thank you for taking the time to review Buckingham Lodge and we are pleased that you are extremely likely to recommend our home. We regularly hold reviews and training to ensure our staff are patient and respectful with our residents. Any communication which falls short of this is not acceptable...

We found Buckingham Lodge after looking at a couple of care homes in Aylesbury.
My mother moved in in June 2019 and has been there ever since.
We were initially looking for a care home with other residents in mind but really it’s the staff who make it special for Mum.
As a family, we feel so happy with the care my mum has received from all staff who go above and beyond the normal care for her. If my mum is at all worried about anything, the staff are so approachable. She feels safe, secure and very cared for.

Keep up the good work Buckingham Lodge!

We were welcomed as we arrived and shown how to sign in. We were shown to the lift after we were told where my sister was staying.
Staff were extremely pleasant to us and amazingly friendly to my sister.

She was able to joke with them and they responded in a jovial way.

The home is clean and well presented. Staff are approachable and have time for you. However, I find that there is a high turnover of staff which affects the overall standard of care. This is mainly seen with residents often showing an element of distress out of confusion or unfamiliarity of new faces.

Reply from Craig Summers, Manager at Buckingham Lodge

Thank you for taking the time to review Buckingham Lodge and we are pleased that you are likely to recommend our home. We now have a settled staff team, with further new colleagues due to join us. In order to ensure that we have the required number of staff to provide care and safety for our residents, we do use agency staff on occasion.

The best care home in Aylesbury Vale to look after our 92-year-old relative suffering from Alzheimer's dementia. Two weeks of respite care. It is friendly, clean, relaxed, non-regimental. Lovely staff who genuinely care for all residents. Highly recommended for respite care or permanent care.

The transition between independent living at home and moving into full-time care is never going to be easy. My elderly mother has just made the momentous decision to move into Buckingham Lodge. She has been very well supported during this transition by the whole team. She tells me she is warm and comfortable and very well cared for. She has often praised the staff for their kindness and care. We have noticed the new manager is working very had to address and problems, like the use of agency staff.

During my grandmother's stay on respite, I was highly satisfied with the care she was given. All the carers were amazing and the accommodation was light, airy and clean. Every part of the home was welcoming. I would like to have seen more activities offered to the residents as advertised on the website. Overall 11/10 Thank you.

During a very difficult time in the family’s lives, Buckingham Lodge welcomed not just Gran but all the family with open arms. The team, from the management through to the chefs, are kind, considerate and not forgetting great fun. They have made a huge impact on Gran’s life by offering a safe haven and comfortable surroundings. The new manager has had a positive drive on the daily activities for residents which have much improved. It’s lovely for family to be able to join in and visit at any point and be a part of the open days and special events. We find great comfort knowing that should Gran’s condition deteriorate she can remain here as further advanced care and assistance can be provided. Any requests she or we have had and any queries have been dealt with immediately and with great understanding.

Anyone looking into care homes for their loved ones really should give Buckingham Lodge true consideration.

The care, professionalism and affection for my mother by the carers was wonderful. Many of the carers were long term employees and with her during the whole of her stay. My mothers needs changed and moved on. The dementia ground floor was suitable for mild to medium forms of dementia.

My sister-in-law has been in this home well over a year and a half, the care she gets is very good, the manager and staff are so helpful any problems they sort them. The home is kept clean and tidy. I've been a few homes with different relatives and this one is certainly the best. Everything is excellent.

Meet the Team (3)

Simon Meredith
Simon MeredithJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2022
Hello!

My name is Simon, and I am the Home Manager at Buckingham Lodge.

Having worked across all of the different care sectors, I believe I have gained a good understanding of the dilemmas faced by those in our care and also an appreciation of how daunting it must be to move from the family home into residential care. The thought that I am in a privileged position to be able to influence and have a positive impact on people’s lives is very motivating and rewarding for me. If we can put the individual at the centre of all that we do, we can ensure that our residents are fully involved in all of our decision-making processes, enabling us to deliver care and support that is as individual as they are.

I am also passionate about supporting our staff to develop and to achieve to the best of their ability. If we have a happy and engaged staff team, it follows that we should have happy, well-cared-for residents and a happy home.

I look forward to meeting you soon.

Abbey Gallagher
Abbey GallagherJob Title:DeputyJoined: 2019

Hello,

My name is Abbey Gallagher, and I am the Deputy Manager at Buckingham Lodge care home.

My care journey started in 2019, and I started working in the community as a domiciliary carer, where I was supporting people in their own homes. I then progressed to supervisor and care coordinator. However, I then wanted to widen my knowledge and experience and started my journey with Anchor at Buckingham Lodge in December 2019 as a care assistant. Within 6 months, I progressed to a Team leader and then, in September 2023, became deputy manager.

I have a passion for person-centred care and ensuring that all of our residents are able to be supported in a way in which they are at the heart of all the support we offer them. My favourite time of year at Buckingham Lodge is the Christmas period, when we personally centre all our Christmas presents from the home to the residents and get them gifts that are meaningful or person-centred to them. This has been a tradition that I started as a team leader during Covid lockdown in 2020 and continued ever since!

Away from work, I am married and have a one-year-old daughter who keeps me busy! I also enjoy spending any time where possible in sunnier climates and by the sea!

Laya Korambath
Laya KorambathJob Title:AdministratorJoined: 2021

Hi, I am Laya, and I have been with Anchor for the past five years. I began my career with the organisation as a Receptionist at Nelson Lodge, Cambs. I later moved to Buckingham Lodge, Aylesbury, where I progressed to the position of Home Administrator.

I have always been passionate about meeting people and supporting them to the best of my ability. I have also had the opportunity to work alongside the Home Manager and Deputy Manager, which has helped me further develop my skills and understanding of the home’s operations.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my son and husband. I enjoy going outdoors, walking, and running.
