My mother has been a resident for nearly a year, my sister, brother and I truely feel very fortunate that Mum is here. The attention to detail is amazing, from the main office Joanna, Linda to the reception, cooks, cleaners and the caring staff, Poppy, Beth, Debs and all the rest.
No on wants to place parents in care, but we can honestly say we have peace of mind. It has allowed us to live our lives and we know if any issues the team are straight on the phone.

The team have 100% of the family's back.

My father moved to Chilterns Court following a fall (femur head fracture) and hospital stay in February, initially for respite care. The whole team have been brilliant with him, from making sure he has help and support in all daily tasks (due to limited mobility), encouraging him (and wheeling him out) to take part in activities and have his meals in the dining area. Whilst I try to visit several times a week, their communication is also excellent, they ring whenever they need to discuss his health or care. Having him so well looked after by a kind, caring and empathetic team is a huge weight off my mind - knowing he's safe and in safe hands.

Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Chilterns Court Care Centre

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We're really glad to hear how well your father has been supported since coming to Chilterns Court, especially after such a difficult time. My wife Erica was admitted with advanced Alzheimer's. We had reveiwed 5 other care homes and Chilterns Court came out top. There was an immediate atmosphere of caring and compassion. She has been looked after with care and settled in very quickly. We had concerns that she would want to come home but this never surfaced. The staff, without fail, have performed their duties well. Our concerns that she was spending too much time in a wheelchair were addressed and a programme of repositioning started to avoid bed sores.

The staff are very good & have lots of patience with Graham who has various moods. My only critique is lack of entertainment as Graham loves music. I hope when the new entertainment person starts work there will be more things for him to do. I am pleased the staff always phone me if anything has happened to him such as falls or he is unhappy.

A superb care home, one where real love & care is shown to the individual residents. My mother came to Chilterns Court 2/3 years ago, and I feel the staff truly care for her. It's a testament that in general there is low staff turnover an dthe food and personal care is very good. The only area that is more tricky at times is the activities provision, but they are addressing that. My mother is very happy there.

Visited my close lifelong friend Tony at Chiltern Court today, and as always, I was delighted by how caring and attentive everyone is. Lunch was excellent - the beef stew smelled amazing and tasted delicious, accompanied by fruity Eastern couscous, followed by a lovely cheesecake . I was also invited for coffee with delicious chocolate cookies, which was a real treat. I enjoyed the visit immensely and was very happy to see such an excellent standard in every aspect. Keep the excellent job

In general I found all the staff attentive, caring and are understanding of his needs and if a request is not possible the majority of the staff will try to explain why. It is frustrating for him when the activities are changed at the last minute which seems to happen quite a lot so it is hard to encourage him to go to the lounge & when events are not as advertised it is good that access to medical aid is excellent.

The care my dad receives is very good and the care staff are excellent. Nothing seems to be too much trouble, and they are all very helpful. The hairdresser and the chiropodist that tend to my dad are excellent. Both are so kind. I do feel that when the chef is deciding on the menu, it should be suited at times to the elderly palate. Not all of them have their teeth or full set.

I was met at reception with warmth, and the nurse that showed me to my room could not have been more helpful. All the staff, both day and night were kind and attentive. Dad in CC for week's respite. He cannot walk and mobilises by wheelchair. Had 2 unwitnessed falls during his stay, despite us bringing in motion alarms for bed/chair. Day 4 became confused, started talking gobbledegook which we recognised as start of UTI. Spoke to Head Nurse who promised it would be checked and if UTI, GP would be called for antibiotics. Next day we asked if Dad had UTI and told it hadn't been dealt with and Dad picked up tummy bug as another resident had one. Clothes went missing, were found in another resident's room as "his daughter had been into the laundry room and helped herself ". Most of the clothes were returned but not all. Spoke to Manager who apologised for the way Dad's week had gone. When Dad came home, complained of a sore bottom and the carers discovered open bed sores. We were very disappointed and upset at Dad's overall care and would not feel comfortable sending him to CC again unless we had reassurance the care would be of a much higher standard.

Denise’s fondest memories are of the home dressing up for every Christmas, and of working shifts as Mrs Christmas, asking for dolls from the local community for doll therapy, which had a brilliant response from the residents. She also recalls organising lots of fun activities over Dementia Action Week, like a day at the seaside, having a paddling pool to dip feet in, as well ice-creams and a sandpit, which was enjoyed immensely.
