My mother recently moved to Chilterns Court from the community. She and all the family were made to feel very welcome upon her arrival. The atmosphere of Chilterns Court was bright, clean and welcoming throughout. Residents rooms are spacious and comfortable and we were encouraged to personalise Mum's
room. Communal areas encourage residents to mix and quieter areas are available if preferred.
There are plenty of activities to keep residents entertained. The standard of catering was good and varied.
Sadly, my mother's health deteriorated rapidly and she died after only a few weeks of moving in. At all times, Mum was shown dignity and respect. Staff communicated with me regularly and were very supportive. I'm sad my mother did not have longer to enjoy her time there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Chilterns Court as a well managed, kind and caring environment for elder care.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Chilterns Court Care CentreWe are very sorry for your loss - we really enjoyed getting to know your mother whilst caring for her. Despite her stay being brief, she made a big impact and will be missed by all the team here. Thank you for leaving us a review during this difficult time, we really appreciate it. Our team will be so thrilled to read how highly you think of our home and the recommendation. With love and best wishes from us all at Chilterns Court.

I have been a regular visitor at Chilterns Court for the past 5 years, since a dear friend of mine was admitted. In all this time the friendliness, warmth, kindness, helpfulness and courtesy shown by all the staff - especially those on the front desk! - has been exceptional. I would - and have - recommended
Chilterns Court to any families who are thinking about long term care for a loved one. Certainly a safe and happy place to be.

Chilterns Court Care Centre has been the perfect place for my father-in-law to have found to give him the care and daily concern that he needs. The staff are very friendly and responsive to his needs, from hearing apts to just making a cup of tea when requested! Daily activities keep his mind and spirit
going while the 'behind the scenes' (cooking and laundry) necessities are always reliable and appreciated.

Personal care needs closer attention - dad not shaved properly, nails dirty.
Reception staff excellent - always received with a smile and helpful.
Carers really kind and helpful.
It would be nice to have better linen + pillows (look shabby)
Good family atmosphere + friendly
Improvement in room
- bowl used for teeth not washed.

Generally very happy with the care my uncle has been given at Chiltern Court. Both care staff and carers have been excellent, cannot fault their dedication. The home as a whole is clean, bright and homely. Entertainment seems good although my uncle is bedridden so N/A to us. The only complaint is that
the quality of the food has been commented on often by my uncle and admittedly we did have a meal there once and it was not good. Quantity and quality of ingredients not an issue - just not appetizing.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Chilterns Court Care CentreThank you so much for your review, we really appreciate it. It is a pleasure caring for your uncle. thank you for your feedback about the food, I have sent this to the Home Manager, and she will manage this. I will also ask her to speak with you next time you or your family visit. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. If there is anything else we can do for your uncle, please let us know.

I am the responsible adult for a gentleman who is a residential client due to mobility and additional issues. He has settled into Chilterns Court very well and is appreciative of the excellent care he receives from the entire staff, as do I. The atmosphere is very welcoming noted by not only myself
and my dear friend but from friends who have been to visit him. It really is a lovely care home for exceeding our expectations. Thanks to all concerned.

Someone could show resident their TV or radio on a daily basis to encourage them to fill their time. If a carer could take the resident out for short walks. A daily break out of Chilterns Court would be beneficial ie the river. Maybe advertise for someone with spare time to come in and engage with residents.
Encourage dog owners to bring their pets in.

My mother has been at Chiltern Court for nearly 4 years; during this time any little concerns that I have had have been addressed straight away, which is great. The staff have always treated me kindly and with respect. I always feel welcome when I visit.
I do however, sometimes bring Mum's clothes
home to wash and often find other people's clothes in her wardrobe! I think there is room for improvement in housekeeping. Overall a great team. The activities are absolutely brilliant and we are kept up to date with all events.
Well done everyone!

Excellent - we were so impressed by everyone at Chilterns Court and the care they gave my father. It's a friendly, happy environment with a team of caring staff who make an effort to make new residents and their relatives feel welcome, valued, and involved. We all appreciated the effort given to tailor
activities to individuals like my father who would never normally want to participate. We were apprehensive when we decided he needed to live somewhere with facilities to help him maintain his dignity but we couldn't have been more impressed. We were all so pleased he settled in so well and was very content giving him a new lease of life for his final months. It's a very special place and we would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to care for their loved one.

My mother who was on respite for two weeks is fully disabled. She had been sitting in a soiled nappy for hours. I rang her at 10.16 in the morning, and at 2.30 when I got there she was still sitting in the same soiled nappy. The lady lied to my face telling me that she wrote in the book that she had
changed her at 11 am. This is the 2nd floor, mum was told off and told by the same nurse to stop calling them. They don’t do one-to-one care. After she had been sick making her feel like a burden. Some of the staff are very good, but some most definitely are not. This place should be investigated. My mum told me that she had taken the nappies I had brought for her and used them on another patient. Mum had been taken to the hospital because of sickness, diarrhoea and low oxygen levels. My mother hasn’t got dementia so knows what is going on.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Chilterns Court Care CentreSorry to read how unhappy you were with the care your mother received with us. Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.486) out of 10 for Chilterns Court Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 38 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.486 for Chilterns Court Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (262 Excellents x 5) + (145 Goods x 4) + (23 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 440 Ratings = 4.486
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chilterns Court Care Centre is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Denise’s responsibility is to support residents, their families, and colleagues. The most exciting part about Denise’s role is to help residents live their lives to their fullest. Every day is different and brings a new challenge.

Denise’s fondest memories are of the home dressing up for every Christmas, and of working shifts as Mrs Christmas, asking for dolls from the local community for doll therapy, which had a brilliant response from the residents. She also recalls organising lots of fun activities over Dementia Action Week, like a day at the seaside, having a paddling pool to dip feet in, as well ice-creams and a sandpit, which was enjoyed immensely. Denise’s proudest moment was when she was awarded the Chairman’s Commendation for meritorious service.
