My father was at Chilterns Court as an ICB patient for rehabilitation following a major operation. All of the staff were wonderful and he received the best possible care. We were also treated so well every time we visited. It was such a great help to us all and meant that he was able to receive the
medical and personal care he needed before being well enough to return home. We cannot thank everyone there enough.

Staff at Chilterns Court are friendly, caring and helpful. I feel they are sometimes understaffed. Frequent contract staff.
The food is OK. Could be more interesting or one less bland choice more frequently. More fresh veg and salads. Very thoughtful with birthday cake.
Giving gifts at Christmas
etc is again a nice gesture. However, a card would do. Gifts must cost and money could go to entertaining or such.

Mum seems to have enjoyed her stay even though her dementia seems to be much worse, as she has forgotten that she was even there. It is so sad but its so clear that she can't be her own for long. She has returned home without a clue on where she's been for the last two weeks and when I try and tell
she just calls me a liar. I am so thankful for everything that you and your staff have done for her.

I have been a volunteer at Chilton Court for the past 7 months and visit weekly, spending approximately 30 minutes each with 4 residents, none of whom have severe dementia or Alzheimer's. My overall impression is that staffing is inadequate and there is a contrast in care between St John's trained carers
and agency staff. Everyone complains about the food, particularly no fresh fruit and vegetables. I am told that chefs leave because they don't feel able to provide good, nutritious meals on the budget allowed. Although every effort is made on the entertainment side there hasn't been an activities staff member for months and she is badly missed. When I started volunteering there was a dedicated lady who knew all the residents and organised plenty of activities.
My impression is that Chiltern Court is excellent for people who have plenty of outside support in the way of family and friends who can arrange. appointments and transport for shopping and treatments not provided by the care home, but there are people who have no one to plug these gaps. I am fully aware that providing these extras costs money and as far as I can see the medical care is excellent in a very well planned new building in the centre of Henley. As one resident said to me "Why can't St John's pay their own carers more instead of spending all this money on agency staff?"

My mother spent 15 days at Chilterns Court Care Centre. She was referred to the facility after being discharged from hospital after two falls. The community therapy team referred her. She received excellent support and care by all health care workers and medical professionals. The facility is modern
and homely with high standards throughout. There is a lovely garden area where residents can also relax.

I have great respect for all the carers for the great care and attention I received whilst a patient there. No way can I fault the care home in any way. Excellent rooms and accommodation. That is why I became a volunteer to give something back for what they gave me.

My mother has recently moved into the home. Staff have supported her to settle and feel welcome.

I have been impressed with the respect shown (knocking on door, giving choice).

I attended a wonderful garden party - everyone had a great time.

Thank you.

My dad has now been living at Chiltern Court for over six months. He gets on well with a great team of staff! They have spent time to get to know him which makes a huge difference and have helped him through a tough couple of months after the death of his wife.
I can't thank the staff enough, they
are brilliant.

I was recommended Chilterns Court through my previous care home where I had been an ill patient for almost a year. In Chilterns, I was cared for by a head carer and nursing staff. I am happy with all the care I received, and my medications provided to me at the correct times. The washing/showering of
individuals with non-ability, by some of the night shift carers, lack knowledge. As in my case, regarding how to transfer the patients to shower/toilets, dressing themselves or be hygienically clean, transferred to and from beds/wheelchairs etc, otherwise, most are happy to learn or cooperate. Altogether meals and what goes on is very credible. Cleanliness is excellent and staff are well groomed, always ready to be addressed by their names when asked and to provide water/newspapers etc. I would not hesitate personally to be accommodated here again. Thank you to all of you for making my stay a happy one.

Overall the building is very well presented and clean. Staff have all been very friendly and offered help at all times. My nan has her dinner in her room and plates have been left a long time in her room, and her Sunday roast, she didn't have any potatoes, seemed like it was the end of the food, but
overall it's been good and she is very happy.

My wife, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, spent one week at Chilterns Court to give me a break as her 24/7 carer. She was very happy there due to the kindness, understanding and skill of the staff. The place is warm, clean, odour free and because of the superb decor has a real friendly feel. The facilities
are second to none especially the restaurant where the food is first class. The rooms are spacious well equipped and have lovely views of the surrounding garden. Residents are free to roam while being secure and monitored. Residents are treated well and with dignity by the cheerful and friendly members of staff. I have visited a number of care homes to find a suitable place and Chilterns Court is by far the best in all respects.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.486)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.486) out of 10 for Chilterns Court Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 38 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.486 for Chilterns Court Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (262 Excellents x 5) + (145 Goods x 4) + (23 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 440 Ratings = 4.486
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chilterns Court Care Centre is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
