Very good, caring staff for residents with excellent activities for them. Food is very good as our family member has put on weight. Good to know that my mother has caring staff on hand 24 hours a day. Also, lovely that they have day trips out for activities and fresh air.

My husband has now been a resident since December 29th 2020. He is well looked after by a very supportive team of nurses and carers and during the past months they have shown great empathy and caring attention towards his well-being due to falls. He is in such good hands!

The staff were excellent; caring, considerate not only to Dad as a resident, but also to Mum who visited daily throughout his two-month stay. The food and facilities were also very good. Dad wasn't able to take part in activities but was always told what was happening. My brother and I were very happy with the standard of care provided.

For some four years, starting before the pandemic, we visited the first one, then a second resident. The staff were invariably helpful and kind. Under the present management, any little issues were dealt with cheerfully, rapidly, efficiently and with positive results. The whole ethos now is constructive and based on the resident's welfare and comfort. We can only commend Duke's Court.

My mother moved in June 2022 after a fall and we appreciate all that is done for her, from the management at the top down to all the staff they have been fantastic and very accommodating. My mother is a very fussy eater and actually complimented the catering staff and chefs on the food, which believe me is a first for her.

We all feel very happy that she is being well cared for and thank you for giving her a fantastic 91st birthday party.

The staff at Dukes Court who look after the residents are generally very good. My mother was a resident for almost six years and seemed to be reasonably happy considering her advanced dementia. But be very aware, the senior management's aim in life is to extract as much money as possible from the residents, with eye-watering annual increases in the fees and in my case when my mother passed there were no cards, flowers or representation at mums funeral, just an incorrect final bill and even emails asking for soap and general toiletries one month after mum passed away. We as a family are extremely disappointed with the management's business model so we would definitely not recommend this home to anyone on this basis as I have already stated. The people who do the caring for very small wages are excellent.

Reply from Heidi Smith, Home Manager at Dukes Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare

I visited many care homes in our search for a permanent home for Mum. Out of all the homes I visited, Dukes Court Care Home was the only one that took the time for an in-depth interview before viewing. I met the manager and could tell she was passionate about caring for her residents and the staff are well trained. Mum came to try it out and is extending her stay as she gets used to the big change. We are thrilled with the staff, the level of care, the way they get to know Mum and her interests, try new activities for her to suit her interests. They post pictures and videos on their Facebook page. Any concerns I might have, are dealt with professionally and quickly. Mum loves the food, the room is very nice and just right. Mum feels listened to and respected. I have had honest, informative meetings with staff that help me communicate with Mum better and I feel like we are all a team working for Mum's best interests. I feel relieved that Mum is well looked after and respected. Incredible!

Every day, we are committed to creating a home where residents feel safe, valued, respected, and supported to live life to the fullest. With over 20 years of experience in health and social care, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles, each of which has shaped my passion for delivering exceptional, person-centred care. As Home Manager, my vision is to create a warm, welcoming, and vibrant community where every resident feels a true sense of belonging. I firmly believe that outstanding care is built on meaningful relationships, genuine compassion, and taking the time to understand each individual. By getting to know our residents, their life stories, interests, preferences, and achievements, we are able to provide personalised care that celebrates who they are and supports them to continue living a fulfilling life.

Supporting and developing our team is something I am deeply passionate about. I believe that when colleagues feel valued, inspired, and empowered, they provide the very best care for our residents. Creating a positive, inclusive workplace where everyone feels appreciated is incredibly important to me, and I take great pride in fostering a culture of kindness, teamwork, and continuous learning.

Outside of work, I have a real passion for interior design and creating beautiful spaces. I also love travelling, experiencing different cultures, and discovering new places to eat with family and friends.

I eventually decided I wanted a change in career, That's when I found this perfect job at Dukes Court with a great team to work alongside.
I have been at Dukes Court for nearly 2 years now!
I find my job so rewarding, learning new things all the time about our residents.
You will often see us having a dance and sing-song to some old style classics as well as showing our artistic side in our arts and crafts sessions, Why don't you come along and see for yourself!
One to ones are very important part of my role in wellbeing for those who may not be able to physically join in with group activities.

Its a pleasure to go home at night time knowing I've made a difference and bought fun and happiness in to the day, not only to our residents but there family members too
