Newbury Grove offers quality nursing, dementia and residential care on a permanent and short-term basis.

The home is close to Newbury town centre in a pleasant residential area, and is arranged into smaller suites with stylish dining rooms and lounges on each floor. Each en-suite bedroom is individually designed, and there are five apartments for couples.

The luxury facilities include a hair and beauty salon, a cinema room and a welcoming café that's perfect for a chat over tea and cake. Outside there are beautiful, wheelchair-friendly, landscaped gardens to enjoy.

The friendly lifestyle team organises group and one-to-one activities that are tailored to residents' interests.

The professional care and kindness are evident as soon as you walk through the door, my friend receives excellent care. The facilities are very good and the food excellent. All the staff are friendly, happy and caring. It's a lovely place to visit.

My father has now been a resident for four weeks, I am extremely happy with the level of care and kindness that the carers show. Nothing is too much trouble for them, they always have time to care. The facilities are very good, the food is excellent and my dad is very well cared for and has settled

So far I have been very impressed by all standards, but particularly the care and kindness of all the staff.
So far fantastic.
But our only negative comment is there is not enough to do.

My experience refers to the 10 months to 31st October 2018. The staff are very helpful but I would like to use names to recognise excellent. The food is reasonable but very similar in style. The condition of the home is not good - there is nowhere to go but I chose it - a bad decision! I find the delay
in serving food sometimes unreasonable. Overall more good things than bad. I suffer from advanced Parkinson's Disease.

My friend stayed in Gracewell for 9 weeks until she died.
Sadly she could not enjoy all the activities and facilities there due to her conditions.
I was grateful that she was well looked after even though she was a challenge to the staff at times.

Gracewell of Newbury is a lovely modern care home that looks like a hotel. The staff are very caring and helpful. There are plenty of activities arranged for the residents with monthly meetings to keep friends/family updated. My Mum settled in well and communication by Gracewell is excellent.

My father moved into the home at the beginning of January. He settled in very quickly and made to feel at home by all of the excellent friendly staff. The rooms, facilities and food are very good. My father enjoys living here.

Gracewell of Newbury has the look and feel of a top quality hotel, and price wise is in line with most 'standard' establishments in the area, making it very good value in comparison. After two months we're very happy that it was the right decision for my Aunt to move in there.

Very pleased with the friendliness of all the staff at the care home, however a couple of issues have cropped up.
1: a dirty commode
2: my father was left to sit in soiled clothes, I had to get the carers to change him
3: staffing levels could be better

The transfer for my father from his flat to the care home was excellent, communication was clear and total flexibility in responding to the timescales.
He has every need catered for and feels totally safe in the home.

Care is very hit and miss. Lack of staff means that aunt is not washed, dressed and had her breakfast, until sometimes as late as 10:30. Sleeping tablets and other medication not administered timely.


On a positive note, laundry is collected and returned daily and the premises appear to be clean and

tidy.

Gracewell of Newbury is a beautiful care home with caring, kind staff.


The only things I would improve if I could, are the levels of staffing (they have been permanently short-staffed since my mother in law moved in several months ago) and the quality of the food (it seems to be inconsistent and

sometimes isn't hot enough by the time it gets to the residents).


Overall, I believe it is of a superior standard to the majority of care homes we looked at.

Gracewell of Newbury is simply magnificent. It is hard to say which is better the staff or the building and facilities. They are both equally brilliant. I like (love) the garden which is relaxing and specially designed for people with dementia. The food is good and there is a fun atmosphere with lots
of activities to keep the residents happy.

Adarsh Kurian

Job Title: General Manager

I am a Registered Nurse with over fifteen years of experience. I lead the entire home team at Newbury Grove, taking responsibility for the smooth running of the home and its facilities to ensure we meet all of the standards required of us.


I appreciate how important it is to residents and their loved ones that they receive regular information and updates about their care, and what’s happening in the home. I’m passionate about keeping everyone updated, including our team, and about celebrating our successes.


One of my favourite parts of the day is spending time with residents and catching up with their families. We’re one big family here at Newbury Grove. I look forward to welcoming you to the home very soon.
