Excellent surroundings, staff always welcoming. Activities are very important. My mother is again beginning to do more stimulating things.

The downside, belongings do go missing in her room. Clothing also gets muddled.

After much research for a care provider for my uncle, we chose Fleming Court. The standard of care my uncle received, was extremely good, the staff took great care of him, showing respect and treating him with dignity. Daily activities and trips out were varied and well co-ordinated, whilst the front of house staff kept us informed of forthcoming events.

The home itself, is beautiful, with good facilities. The resident rooms are tastefully decorated and equipped, it was nice that we were able to add personal items to make it more comfortable. The food is nutritious and meals varied, it was nice that we could sit and have a meal also.

Little touches such as having hairdressers on site, tuck shop to buy sweets and delivery of daily papers, made it pleasant for him.

I highly recommend Fleming Court.

Good care with attentive staff. Love the décor and ambience of Fleming Court Care Home. Hospitable to visitors. An odd meal not as good as others and room 7 needs a toilet roll holder fitted on wall.

I would have preferred to be offered a shower more often. I would like to be offered a chance to go out of the house. I felt that I had to get up early as everyone wanted help to get out of bed at the same time.

During the day I appreciated being taken to the toilet when I needed to go.

I didn't always get a bib when I requested one, which made my clothes messy.

Some staff would benefit from being reminded about how to fit hearing aids.

Showers facilities are in every bedroom, to address this I will advise my staff to offer a shower each day at a time appropriate for yourself. We have outstanding gardens, parks and...

Light switch by the bed too high to switch off if in bed at night.
Encouragement required to sit with others at meal times.
More fruit and fresh produce green vegetables required. Endless stews are indigestible.
Initial introduction on arrival was poor, left to her own devices.

Concerned about loss of laundry.

I think that you get extremely good care here it is pricey but not much more than elsewhere. A high profile bed is available for use. The gardens are very accessible and visitors can come freely and if they wish, have a meal or snack.

Overall Experience

It is a great shame that a home that once had a special blend of outstanding staff and excellent facilities has deteriorated because of poor management. We brought my mother here a year ago but in the spring of 2017, it changed hands. Since then a lot of very good staff have left. Those who remain have told family and friends of their unhappiness about under-staffing, low wages and having to leave residents unattended. Some even asked us to raise these issues with management because they were being ignored. The management since the first excellent manager left has been appalling for a care home of this standard and expense. After a long delay, the replacement lasted less than two months, not having sufficient experience (a familiar problem if you read CQC reports for some of the new owner's other homes). Unsurprisingly we have lost confidence and have now removed my mother. We were very sad saying goodbye to some truly excellent loving staff but we shall not miss the new regime.

Beautiful care home, chosen because of its staff, decor and ethos in May 2017. It was taken over in late 2017 and went through many changes, most notably in staffing and quality of appearance ie flowers, cleanliness etc. Still happy with the level of care, although I don't like the use of agency staff. Levels of quality have dropped.

Fleming Court is of a high standard with the exception of the food. The food issue causes great concern as we are now having to buy food to be taken in.

When we first viewed the home in November 2016, it was under a different owner and our previous experience with two other homes was a big plus. However, the new owners have let standards regarding food slip dramatically. A final point is that loyal staff are leaving to go to other care homes.
