I would have preferred to be offered a shower more often. I would like to be offered a chance to go out of the house. I felt that I had to get up early as everyone wanted help to get out of bed at the same time.


During the day I appreciated being taken to the toilet when I needed to go.


I didn't

always get a bib when I requested one, which made my clothes messy.


Some staff would benefit from being reminded about how to fit hearing aids.

Thank you for your positive feedback and here at Fleming court we always welcome suggestions of areas to improve. Showers facilities are in every bedroom, to address this I will advise my staff to offer a shower each day at a time appropriate for yourself. We have outstanding gardens, parks and locations around Newcastle, there are staff who would escort you outside weather permitting. Our wellbeing coordinators would also support you and I am also recruiting more staff to be available. The Laundry Department have plenty of protective garments for mealtimes and insist staff only need to collect items from the laundry. Lastly I do apologise for ill-fitting hearing aids, this week I had a meeting with Vision call who will be conducting training at Fleming Court, this will provide a better service in regards to hearing and vision services.

Light switch by the bed too high to switch off if in bed at night.
Encouragement required to sit with others at meal times.
More fruit and fresh produce green vegetables required. Endless stews are indigestible.
Initial introduction on arrival was poor, left to her own devices.

The health and wellbeing of all our Residents is very important to us. We are delighted to hear your positive comments with regards to our home and the support you received via our care team. We have recently appointed two excellent and highly experienced chefs to join our hospitality team and have also arranged for monthly meetings with our Residents to enable us to receive regular feedback on our hospitality services. Fresh fruit is also now available in the dining area each day. Our Home Manager operates an open door policy and is happy to assist both Residents and family members with any concerns they may have. We also hold monthly staff meetings and Resident/Relative meetings to discuss any issues or ideas to improve the Resident experience.

Very welcoming environment, make residents feel right at home. Staff very friendly and approachable. Recently re-decorated with different scenes of the town drawn on walls beautifully by a member of staff. Residents are cared for very well and always look happy! Both grandparents and great great aunt
are residents here.

I think that you get extremely good care here it is pricey but not much more than elsewhere. A high profile bed is available for use. The gardens are very accessible and visitors can come freely and if they wish, have a meal or snack.

It is a great shame that a home that once had a special blend of outstanding staff and excellent facilities has deteriorated because of poor management. We brought my mother here a year ago but in the spring of 2017, it changed hands. Since then a lot of very good staff have left. Those who remain have
told family and friends of their unhappiness about under-staffing, low wages and having to leave residents unattended. Some even asked us to raise these issues with management because they were being ignored. The management since the first excellent manager left has been appalling for a care home of this standard and expense. After a long delay, the replacement lasted less than two months, not having sufficient experience (a familiar problem if you read CQC reports for some of the new owner's other homes). Unsurprisingly we have lost confidence and have now removed my mother. We were very sad saying goodbye to some truly excellent loving staff but we shall not miss the new regime.

Thank you for the feedback you have provided in relation to Fleming Court. We appreciate your comments on a number of areas that you acknowledged as being excellent within the home. Any concerns raised are treated seriously and thank you for bringing these to our attention in relation to management and staffing levels. There has been a change in management in the home and unfortunately, when the previous Home Manager left, a number of the staff decided to go with her. This has caused some staffing challenges, but I am pleased to say we have recruited some great staff as well as retained some excellent staff. It’s also worth mentioning that several of the staff who had left the organisation during this time of change have now either returned to Fleming Court or have requested to return in future weeks. We regularly meet with our staff teams to discuss any areas of concerns they have to ensure they are fully supported. Our staffing levels are assessed on a regular basis to ensure that staff numbers are appropriate to meet the needs of our Residents. Fleming Court has also recently undergone its first CQC inspection, of which we received a rating of Good in all areas. Feedback was positive and an excellent reflection of our dedicated team within Fleming court.

Beautiful care home, chosen because of its staff, decor and ethos in May 2017. It was taken over in late 2017 and went through many changes, most notably in staffing and quality of appearance ie flowers, cleanliness etc. Still happy with the level of care, although I don't like the use of agency staff.
Levels of quality have dropped.

As a company, we are always actively looking for feedback with regards to our service. We have recently undergone changes in the ownership of the care home and have ensured a smooth transition. We have had changes to our staff team and on occasions, we have had to utilise agency staffing. As an organisation, we always utilise the same agency supplier, offering continuity within the staff team who assist in the care home, thus ensuring that the agency staff members covering can, therefore, build relationships with our Residents and current staff team. We are continuing to build a strong staffing team to help us move our home forward.

Fleming Court is of a high standard with the exception of the food. The food issue causes great concern as we are now having to buy food to be taken in.


When we first viewed the home in November 2016, it was under a different owner and our previous experience with two other homes was a big plus.

However, the new owners have let standards regarding food slip dramatically. A final point is that loyal staff are leaving to go to other care homes.

At Fleming Court, we pride ourselves on the presentation, taste and nutritional value of our food and offer, daily, a wide variety of menu choice for our residents. We aim to cater to all our residents’ individual tastes and monitor food standards by carrying our residents' surveys which continue to receive excellent feedback on the standard and variety of food provided. The Home Manager carries out random taste checks on the food to ensure a high quality is maintained and any concerns are raised with the chef. Families will often join their loved ones for Sunday lunch and have always been very complimentary on the food quality. Unfortunately, staff will leave for a number of personal reasons, be it because they have moved home, to provide care for family members and even to further their education. The Home Manager operates and open door policy and holds monthly Resident and Relative meetings; she would welcome a meeting with you to assist with any concerns you would like addressed.

My mother has vascular dementia. Four days before her 100th birthday, she broke her hip. She went downhill after the operation. However, since moving into the care home, she is no longer depressed. She is making more sense than in the last six months - she smiles, enters into activities and appears
to be so content.
The carers spend a lot of time talking to her, making endless cups of tea (and biscuits), the food is great and when I visit I can spend hours there as the staff are so caring. A wonderful place.

This is a beautiful new home into which my mother has moved. She has been welcomed, supported and cared for with interest and compassion. It is lovely to visit her and see how her life has actually improved in terms of interactions, friendships, conversation and day to day life in comparison to the
previous year. Fleming court is expensive but my brother and I visited many before asking Mum to come and look at Fleming court. She has settled well and that is a credit to the staff and their approach. There are plenty of activities without pressure, outings locally and further afield in the minibus and pleasant meals, coffee and tea times.
I would recommend this home very highly and hope there is a place if and when my time comes! I feel comfortable entrusting the staff here with my Mum.

Right from day one, we have been impressed at Fleming Court by the quality of staff and care provided. Mum has been a resident for 10 weeks and settled in very quickly. As a family, we are confident that mum is well cared for and loves the social scene available to her.
With regular trips out and
social activities aplenty, good food and spotless surroundings we are delighted with our choice of home for mum. Most importantly - she is too!
She describes it as a first class hotel - with care.
We would and have, recommend to anyone who will listen.

A lovely welcoming building with caring friendly staff. The rooms are all clean and spacious but warm and comfortable. Private bathrooms are clean and easy for the less physically able to use. The residents have a lounge dining area on each floor but can use other floors if they wish. My dad has appreciated
the opportunity to buy a glass of wine with his meal if he wishes at the licenced bar and as the weather improves we look forward to sitting outdoors. The daily programme of events is interesting but residents can choose to what extent they participate.

I spent 3 weeks at Fleming Court recently and I can say it was a most pleasurable time during which I was looked after to a very high standard by a caring and efficient staff day and night. My every need was attended to diligently and promptly without any reservation. Further, the homemade food was
superbly presented and consistent of a varied and healthy menu by an exceptionally talented kitchen staff. The grounds are well laid out and the building is most pleasantly situated. I would recommend Fleming Court to anyone as a temporary or permanent residence.

This care home opened towards end of 2016. My mother became ill and needed urgent respite care.
The staff at the home were really supportive in visiting my mother in hospital and arranging her respite care. The home itself is magnificent.
The staff have been excellent and have provided very good care
- so much so my mother has decided to stay in the home permanently.

Very smart décor, friendly, helpful staff who will do anything you ask of them. Food excellent even though I don't have a good appetite. I enjoy the activities which keep my mind working, especially the crossword puzzles which I haven't been able to do for some years because of my poor eyesight. The
nice lady who organises the activities is lovely.

As a Heath Care Professional, Karen has gained a wealth of experience in providing care support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at HC-One for 12 years, Karen closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Karen remarked:


“Watching the interaction between Residents and staff and watching them laugh together.”


Karen has also achieved much outside of work, she has completed a 1500ft sky dive for the Neonatal ward in Sheffield.”


Outside of work, Karen enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.
