Reviews

9.9 Kingfisher Court has a Review Score of 9.9 (9.926)

The Review Score of 9.9 (maximum of 10) for Kingfisher Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 18 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Kingfisher Court in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.926 for Kingfisher Court is calculated as follows: ( (199 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 215 Ratings = 4.926

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kingfisher Court is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 13.2 positive Reviews (66 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 18 Reviews ÷ 13.2 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

On my first visit to see my 87-year old sister I was bowled over by this care home. Firstly it is spotlessly clean, with gleaming loos and bathrooms. Secondly, and let’s not beat around the bush, it is as fragrant as any 5-star hotel! Most importantly, the kindness of the owners and their team is way beyond any normal expectation.

The public areas are spacious, light and designed along the lines of mid-budget hotels with absolutely no institutional feel and the private rooms and en-suite facilities equally good.

The highlight, though, is the top-down thoughtful care offered. Staff are a constant presence and all go out of their way to offer generous assistance. From the friendly chef to the unbelievably kind housekeeping staff, nothing was too much trouble. (My other 80-year old sister, who accompanied me, was taken ill and the help we were given was way beyond the call of duty, even to the extent of offering her a bed for the night and refusing any payment.) To sum up, excellent.

My mother did not want to go into a care home but we struggled to meet her increasing needs as a family. After visiting other homes we settled on Kingfisher Court and sought respite for my mother.
We were so impressed with the care and attention that was given to my mum and all of the residents we decided to make this a permanent home for mum.
From what I have witnessed nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff. They are very kind and encourage residents to take part in the many and varied activities that are on offer. We have always been kept informed of any decisions that may affect mum and they listen and act on any concerns we have had immediately. They genuinely try and succeed in giving the best possible service at all times. I am very pleased and relieved that we have found such a wonderful place for mum to spend her last years. Staff are well trained and always appear happy at work, the management is excellent. The home is beautifully furnished and kept clean.

This is an amazing care home, so good that I can't believe my luck in finding it. Mum was well looked after physically in her other care home but in this one, she is constantly stimulated with new ideas and activities. Everyone has so much time for her, it is so well staffed.
The facilities, building, wide corridors, cinema etc... are fantastic but would be irrelevant without the fantastic people they have working there. Everyone knows everyone ie staff and residents.
Housekeeping staff, maintenance staff, catering staff all get involved with not just their main job but with residents, their families and other activities too.

It's so good, you won't be able to believe it by just what I'm writing so if you're looking for somewhere special just pay them a visit. The owners are two fantastic guys who get to know everyone personally and are so hands on - it's just so great - it took one of them a while though to sort out where mum had gone wrong in her jigsaw but he got there.

After looking at many homes in the area, we are so glad we found this one. If a certain premium lager could do nursing homes they would be like this!

Staff are fantastic and the home is first class, it's like a 5-star hotel for the elderly. All day there are things for the residents to do to keep active. Each visit the staff welcome you and will give you an update on how things are going. Hairdresser on site and even a cinema.

If you live around the area and have a loved one who needs care this is the place. We are so pleased with the care he is given, food is restaurant quality, the dining area is better than most restaurants I have been in.

I can recommend Kingfisher Court care home to look after your loved one. Go visit to see just how good it is.
They even post daily pictures on Facebook so you can see your loved one having fun and that really makes a difference to be able to check on them when you cannot visit.
5* plus.

This is the third care home that my Mum has stayed in and it is by the far the best. It is wonderful, a real home from home. The rooms are wonderful, all en-suite and with their own fridges to keep all those little treats fresh.

My Mum is beautifully cared for all the time and even has the option of a shower every morning (as was her routine at home) although it now involves major assistance from two carers.

A major advantage is that Mum can now easily attend physio as she is taken by disabled taxi and the whole outing is just an hour a half, a far cry from the six-hour stints when she travelled by hospital transport. I visit two or three times a week and the first question from the staff, who are very much in evidence, is 'Do you want a coffee?'. Then 'Are you stopping for lunch?' This week we had a formal evening meal with Mum at a pop-up restaurant - just wonderful and all included.

My mother has been a resident at Kingfisher Court since May 2017 and our whole family are extremely pleased with the excellent care mum receives. Her life has been transformed by the companionship she now has with fellow residents. She loves the many and varied activities on offer at the home and is particularly pleased that she is taken to church on Sundays.

The atmosphere at the home is extremely friendly; we are treated as family and always feel welcome. The staff are all excellent, they are aware of and maintain, their professional boundaries and treat our mum with the love and respect she deserves.

The 'all inclusive' terms provide us with peace of mind; no unexpected additional costs each month, yet we feel the quality of the provision is exceptional, the person-centred approach to mum's care is so important to her wellbeing and state of mind.

The home is beautifully designed and scrupulously clean. The food is delicious and the menus are often chosen by residents.

As a family, we looked at several residential care homes in the area but were very impressed when we viewed Kingfisher Court. The standard of décor and furnishings is more of a boutique hotel than a care home. The facilities including the library, tea room and cinema are exceptional. Gardens are well laid out and beautifully kept and a lovely garden room allows a taste of the outside for the less mobile.
Most importantly, the staff are caring, kind, attentive and go beyond the call of duty to make new residents feel welcome and at home. Food choices are excellent, well presented and quality of a high standard. Rooms are beautifully decorated, spacious and furnished to a high standard.

My Dad came into Kingfisher Court for a respite stay and was a little unsure at first what to expect even though he was very impressed looking around on the open day. My Dad has always been treated well, in fact, I couldn't believe all the staff remembered his name just from meeting him on the open day. He was the first male resident and the home gave him a framed photo which appeared in the local newspaper. He would not hesitate to go and stay for respite again, as each and every member of staff treats him so well. He also still gets invitations to get-togethers even though he has gone back home.
Well done Kingfisher, you are the best!

It is clear a lot of thought has been put into the design and facilities at the home but most importantly the team managing Kingfisher Court cannot do enough for the residents and family.
This is not my mothers first care home but within weeks we are seeing a notable difference and is definitely in a happier place, even if she can't remember why.

We were very worried about a residential place for my mother in law because she had expressed a wish not to be placed in a home.
During the last 6 years I have worked for a private ambulance company transferring patients to and from nursing homes. Having seen these my original thoughts were that I would not want a relative of mine in one. After looking after her for 7 months both my wife and I realised that we weren't qualified to give her the sort of care that was required.
I was persuaded to look at Kingfisher Court. My initial thought was that it would be typical of others but this was not the case.
When we had made the decision we admitted her and spent a few days worrying ourselves silly. Our worries were unfounded, the care staff are well trained sympathetic and extremely dedicated to making all residents happy. She is, after only 2 weeks, a different person she is coming out of her shell and is now enjoying life to the full.
I fully recommend Kingfisher Court.

When my mum came into Kingfisher Court care home in April for respite care you wouldn't believe how pleasant and friendly everyone was.
My mum felt like she was in a hotel.
She could do what she wanted when she wanted.
She was treated with dignity and respect at all times.
My mum never stops talking about all the care staff, how nice and pleasant they are.

Today I visited my auntie, I arrived at lunchtime so thought I would have had to wait or come back later but the deputy manager said I could have lunch too.
We ate in the 'English Tea Room' which was lovely.
The kitchen staff made a range of sandwiches and 6 different mini cakes.
My auntie seems to be very happy and well looked after. All the staff are really nice.

Amazing home.
My grandmother is finally settled and happy again. All the staff are wonderful and treat my grandmother like she is thier own. Its been nice to spend time doing things with my grandmother like planting flowers in the garden room, watching a movie in the beautiful cinema or just sitting having a nice cup of tea and some lunch in the tea room instead of just sitting in her room.
The food is great and I know this because I have been allowed to have dinner there on several occasions.
While looking for a suitable home for my grandmother, me and my mum visited all the homes in the Sutton and Mansfield area and had actually given up looking as there wasn't any that we felt were suitable or that we thought she would be happy at. We then decided to go to the open day at Kingfisher Court and as soon as we were welcomed through the front doors we knew we had finally found somewhere. Kingfisher Court is in a league of its own in every department.

I have been overwhelmed at the kindness my mother has received since going into this home she has been in several other homes for respite care but she never felt she could settle else where. The home and staff are amazing here and personal care has been carried out with dignity. Every member of staff are kind and thoughtful from the bottom to the top all having time to speak to her and me at any time of the day or night. All of mum's family are welcomed to the home as they are when mum was at home this means a lot to us all. The food is amazing the chef is interested in the people she serves and this shows.
