I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at Mayflower Court for their hard work and dedication in caring for my father. We were always concerned about how he would react to moving to a care home from his home in London (where he had lived for over 50 years). However, with the assistance of the staff he quickly settled to life in Mayflower Court. He was able to make friends with the other residents and he enjoyed the activities organised by the staff. As far as he was concerned it was his home (he once explained to me that this was his house and he rented the rooms to the other residents!). Thank you.

My dad has been in Mayflower now for just over 2 weeks, he has dementia and needs a lot of care, I can see that he's getting the care and interaction he so really needs and I have seen a positive improvement in him, the staff are wonderful, one member of staff, in particular, is the best as my dad has also taken a shine to her.
As a family, we did have our reservations about putting my dad into a care home, as I myself have worked in the industry and was not impressed with what I saw when working in the various places, but seeing for myself how caring they are, I know we have made the right decision.

I would recommend Mayflower Court care home to anyone that needed a place for their loved ones.

October 5th was our brother's one year anniversary at Mayflower. He'd been hospitalised in 2020 after which his condition worsened, he lost most of his language and much of his mobility, and his needs became quite high. He'd been in a respite 'care' home - (where, in five weeks, he acquired bedsores) - while we found an Anchor Home for him. To our great relief and gratitude, the manager and the team at Mayflower took him on and have done a wonderful job of rehabilitation. He was again in hospital on November 5th last year but has made a remarkable recovery.

He has put on weight, thanks to the special pureed presentation of his food, which he relishes, seems to drink sufficiently and, thanks to careful skin management, his bedsores are gone. Mayflower keeps in touch with us about all to do with him. He's up every day and we are now able to take him out for a walk to the common or to the shops, or the cafe for a coffee with us - something we only dreamed of in November last year. Thank u all so much!

I would really like to say a huge thank you to the team leader for helping my mother.
The staff were having problems encouraging her to wash etc. He kindly phoned me and came up with some brilliant ideas that I believe are working.
He is kind, informative, calm and very helpful both to me and Mum.
He’s really well trained in his caring techniques and an absolute credit to your team and Mayflower Court.

Please send him my best wishes and a massive thank you.

Although I have not been able to enter the home since March, the home have installed a facility where I can Skype my mother which works very well. She seems calm, happy and well cared for and as far as I am aware she is being very well cared for.

My Mother has been a resident at Mayflower Court care home for over four years now. Throughout that time she has been well cared for and the staff have always been very professional and helpful. I have no complaints about them whatsoever.

Overall I am happy with the care provided to my mother. The staff are helpful and I have never felt that my mother was not properly cared for. My mother doesn't like the food much, but many other residents have no complaints.

The new manager has brought a warm, open and professional approach. We previously had concerns but these have been remedied.

The home's COVID19 defences have been thorough, consistent and very effective and have won our admiration. The staff are friendly, caring and dedicated. The management team responds warmly to suggestions, for example setting up Skype so that we can keep in touch with our parents. It has been a great relief to know that they are well cared for through the pandemic. The rooms are spacious and modern and a friendly maintenance team sort out any problems. The food is traditional and can be of mixed appeal. It can be frustrating leaving one's home environment for a care home and very occasionally the staff can misjudge an individual's wishes but for the most part we see thoughtful and sensitive care with staff going the extra mile.

During the recent challenging period, my mother has remained positive and engaged which is a testament to the care being provided. A short period of hospitalization was handled sensitively with a safe return to the home. We continue to be informed and the restrictive visits are now most welcome.

My mother spent the last year of her life at Mayflower Court with substantial needs for her depression and cognitive impairment. The care was compassionate, caring and the staff were absolutely exceptional. As a doctor working with older people, I was amazed and delighted at the lengths staff went to for both my mother and my family. The dedication and care at the end of her life was truly wonderful. I had no concerns or complaints at all.

My sister moved from another care home. I can only describe as "awful". Since she has been at Mayflower Court the change in her has been amazing and swift. Before she was in bed for 6 months (almost) and only got up for the toilet. Now she goes to the dining room for her meals and walks about to the various lounges. She is clean, well looked after and much more cheerful. Wonderful.

My first experience of being in a care home proved to be a very pleasant one. The Mayflower home is beautifully built with much care and a lovely feeling of being able to relax in a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff are really first class. Nothing was too much trouble and any request was carried out with a lovely smile.
My bedroom and ensuite were perfect. The food was a little disappointing as it was never hot.

Many thanks.

Mayflower Court is a relatively new building, three years old. It is extremely well appointed, very smart and comfortable. The rooms are very smart, offering a good bed, a comfortable chair and plenty of storage. Each room has its own bathroom which is luxurious, with shower, washbasin, toilet, etc.
There are plenty of other lounges to sit in.
The staff were outstanding in the care they offered.
The food, served in a lounge on the same floor, or in one's room, was mostly good and tasty but sometimes staff had to rush back to the kitchen for more supplies. The vegetables were a bit over-cooked to my taste, but on the whole, food was enjoyable. Too much soup!
There is an excellent, well laid out garden.

If only it wasn't so expensive.
