My mother came to this home for respite care on the recommendation of a friend. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the home is exceptionally well maintained and clean. My mother was very happy during her 3-week stay and I could relax knowing she was being well cared for.

Moving my mum from her home into residential care was one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make but the advice and support provided by the staff at Mayflower Court made a difficult time much easier. The staff have been professional and caring at each stage of the process, from the initial assessment at mum's home, tailoring a care plan to help mum settle into an unfamiliar environment and taking the time to understand her ongoing needs.

Apart from the great staff, the environment is first class, the rooms are very light and spacious, the gardens are beautiful and there are lots of daily activities for residents if they wish to get involved. Mayflower Court also operates an open door visiting policy and it’s a lovely safe place to chat with my mum over a coffee and a piece of cake!

My father suffered a fall resulting in a spell in hospital. We were worried about Dad going home so arranged for respite at Mayflower Court. This was a really wise move and Dad is really enjoying his stay and there has been a huge improvement in his health but he is also much happier and brighter as well.
The staff are a fabulous bunch and nothing is too much trouble. The home is more like a hotel, very clean and I have to say there are no offensive smells. Dad may well stay here at Mayflower on a permanent basis as he has settled so well and is really happy there.

Fabulous place, lovely people who are always bright, cheerful and welcoming.

My mother has just spent 4 weeks at Mayflower Court recovering from a recent operation. Stunning home, high standard of care and great consideration given to residents and visitors alike. I had several lunches with mum during her stay and was greatly surprised at the variety, quality and standard of food served. The rooms are of a lovely size and decorated beautifully, big windows furnished to a high quality. Mum lives on her own at present but has already said she would like to return to Mayflower for further respite.

My mother stayed for one month respite visit (her second) and was settled and happy during the visit.
Care was thoughtful, caring and kind at all times and she was treated with warmth and respect.
For Mum, the middle-of-the-night reassurance, with a cup of hot chocolate, was a huge bonus when she couldn't sleep. She felt safe and cared for.

On dry days, the lovely garden was a delight!

Father was a resident here for a little over 18 months and we are so pleased that we found Mayflower Court for his final months. He was treated as an individual with care and respect and the staff showed genuine concern for his happiness and well being. His room was extremely well equipped and the ambience of the whole place was peaceful, spacious and with a great garden to enjoy - all wheelchair accessible of course. Great attention and effort were made by the staff to ensure his final days were spent in a tranquil and comfortable setting and the family are very appreciative of the support we received in the final few days.

Mum went into Mayflower Court two weeks ago for respite care. The most outstanding feature I have found is the care and attentiveness of the staff. We have held off moving Mum into a care home for as long as possible as she always had a distrust and great dislike of such places. So when she moved in we were set for fireworks! However Mum has settled in really well - due to the kind and respectful way that staff attend to her every need. The set up is really geared to dementia sufferers - each group of 8 to 10 residents sharing a comfy lounge/dining area which is a cross between a good hotel and a smart lounge in someone's own home.

All the family have been made very welcome to visit at any time - Dad often joins Mum for the 3-course dinner (choice of main meal at the table). Dad and I joined Mum for dinner before his birthday and enjoyed good wholesome food followed by birthday cake and traditional blowing out of the candles. We then took Mum for a walk around the well-designed gardens.

My mother was a resident of Mayflower Court for over two years. She loved to walk and the home was ideally suited for her with wide corridors and a feeling of space. Her room was lovely, had tall, wide windows overlooking the garden and was very light.

The staff were caring and they formed good relationships with her. We were so impressed with the End of Life care and felt supported for her end.

We felt we were lucky to have found this home for our mother. I would recommend Mayflower Court for anyone looking for a home with caring staff, a beautiful garden and pleasant environment.

My mother received wonderful care since she arrived at Mayflower Court two years ago. The staff have always been patient and understanding. She was always carefully dressed and tended to and we would often find a staff member sitting with her when we arrived for a visit. As frequent visitors, we were pleased that everything looked homely and clean. The rooms are all well designed and large, the windows allow for natural sunlight. My mother's room holds some pieces of furniture and her favourite paintings were on the wall. She was so happy there.

As my mother's health failed, the staff were very compassionate and helped us through the final days without intruding. Mayflower Court was the best choice we ever made.

My Mum went into Mayflower Court for 2 weeks respite to get over a virus infection she caught during December. She was looked after very well, with lovely food, a very comfortable room and break out lounges. The staff were great with Mum affording her independence while at the same time helping her recover her mobility and strength. This is a leading edge care home of the modern era.

The manager was fabulous sorting everything out. The team leader welcomed Mum and got her comfortable. The purpose of Mum's stay was to build her up both in weight and confidence in walking, being independent. So Mum put weight on but the real progress was made in her walking. She started off just being able to walk to the end of the corridor and back to her room but by the end was doing three laps of both corridors and this was down to the encouragement of the team, good food providing Mum with the stamina to do this and her sheer determination to get back on her feet. Mum slept well, ate well and got well - she still has a way to go, but this stay has made a huge difference to her.

If you want a care home that smells fresh, is modern and homely this is it.

When staying at Mayflower Court, it looked very clean and modern, but at mealtimes, the kitchen should stay open until meal times are finished and there is not always enough pudding to go around all the time. They should ask in the early afternoon for dinner menu, they would know what people have asked for. The price you pay should be enough for everyone at each meal time.

Reply from Brenda Roach, District Manager at Mayflower Court

Thank you for your feedback. The kitchen is open throughout the course of the day but has the facility to support customers for any requirement out of these hours. There are also snack stations throughout the home. Menus are displayed within the home and customers are able to choose on a daily basis what they would like to eat.

My widowed mother (94) has recently spent a week's convalescence at Mayflower Court after a number of periods in hospital. This was her first experience of residential care. Both she and her family were impressed by the welcome and reassurance of all the staff, the standard of the premises and the quality of care. It is good to know that convalescent care of this standard is available and fortunately, on this occasion, at relatively short notice.

As a young active 69 year old, living alone but facing a major operation, I was anxious about moving into a care home. However, after the initial show around I knew Mayflower Court was the right 'convalescence home' for me. The home was spotless, the gardens were a joy to walk around or just to sit and admire, the food was superb - in fact, I asked the chef for recipes! And finally, but certainly not least the caring staff were just superb. Patient, gentle, kind, very caring are just a few words to describe them - always professional. Just one comment - please use the word 'convalescent' in your marketing/advertising! Mayflower Court - not to be faulted.
