Arranging for a parent to be placed in a home is very traumatic and not having experience of this process is even more traumatic, feeling helpless, out of one's depth and most of all guilty at what has to be done even knowing it is for the best.

I arranged for a viewing of St Clare's Court and although I thought I had no pre-conceived ideas of what I would find. It was like entering into another world not a home but a hotel which was bright, colourful and friendly. The staff were friendly, helpful and proud of the place in which they worked. The residents were happy and my main thought was there was noise, talking, laughter. I had expected quiet or even silence but everyone seemed relaxed, happy and were enjoying their surroundings which appeared to be those of a high standard that one would find in a very "posh hotel".

My family visited St Clare's Court to confirm that this was where we wanted mum to stay. Alzheimer's is a dreadful illness and requires specialist care which we knew she would have from the staff and carers and allay any concerns we may have had.

My experience at St Clare's Court has always been positive. Staff are well trained and very caring. Although my parent has dementia she responds to kindness and refers to the carers as her friends. Never easy to place a parent into care, but I am very happy that she is at St Clare's.

After a number of weeks in hospital my mother-in-law needed a place for palliative care. We found St Clare's having passed by a number of times. We called in without an appointment and were pleasantly surprised. It was a beautiful place, the staff and residents all seemed really happy, it was furnished beautifully, was spotlessly clean. Unfortunately, my mother-in-law only got to spend a few days at St Clare's. The staff during this difficult period were extremely professional, accommodating of any requests and couldn't do enough for us as a family. I couldn't recommend St Clare's highly enough.

The staff member was very kind, helpful and compassionate as we were all very upset. The rooms were very clean and the service users we met as we were looking round appeared very happy. All staff from all sectors were extremely kind, caring, helpful and knowledgeable, nothing was a problem to them. They went above and beyond to ensure mam and her family were all cared for. Unfortunately, mam spent a very short period of time at St. Clare's and we wish she had gone there sooner.

My Mam was diagnosed with terminal cancer and required 24-hour palliative care. I was very distressed at the thought of her needing to go into a care home as I was worried that she would not receive the same level of care that her family could give her at home. I soon realised that my mam could not have received better care anywhere else. The staff were all amazing and couldn't have done any more to make my mam, family and myself feel welcome. The standard of care was excellent and the staff remained professional as well as being approachable and friendly, the home itself was very clean and homely. I would not hesitate in recommending St. Clare's to anyone.

My mother, after almost 5 weeks in hospital from dementia related illnesses, was diagnosed with complications including lung and secondary cancers. She was, unfortunately, unable to return home and required 24-hour palliative care. We had only a short time to find a suitable care provider but were fortunate to locate St Clares in Newton Aycliffe. From our first inspection, the impression was excellent with very clean modern and well-maintained facilities, which were clearly kept at this standard by the very professional and personable staff. Who from the first meeting, were the most attentive and knowledgeable, of any I had met, in over two years of care user experience.

The attention to detail in everything the staff did meant we were all treated with the highest levels of dignity care and personal attention, which provided an exemplary experience, although over such a short time.

My husband enjoyed one weeks respite in St Claire's care home. He settled very well, and I would have no hesitation in taking him again, and when the day comes when I have to let him go full time care, that is where I would like him to go.

10/10 for all the staff from top to bottom. Well done St Claires care home.

I go into St Clare's regularly to see my parishioners, presently 6 but also a number of others who have since died. All my parishioners and their families spoke very highly of the standard of care that they receive. I have found the staff excellent, working above and beyond requirements, especially in care of the dying. The whole place is clean and welcoming, full of smiling and cheerful staff, always willing to help.

My 94-year-old father has recently become resident here and was very anxious about making the decision to leave his own home. But what an amazing home from home he now lives in. The staff and manager have been so helpful, thoughtful and supportive to me as a carer and to my dad in allowing him to make this decision. The building, gardens and furnishings are beautiful and my father enjoys having people around, food is great and he is comfortable and most importantly happy and relaxed.

I cannot thank the home enough for the care they gave to my late mother. Despite her having mobility problems and terminal cancer, the staff gave her excellent care, meeting her needs to a very high standard.

The residents are all happy and that is what counts.

St Clare's Court is a wonderful home and everyone is trying their best to keep up the standard. I know the new manager will do well in this home as he is a very likeable and helpful person.

Overall the home is excellent and is a great place to live.

My Mam has been in St Clare's Court since February 2017 and I visit most days, the staff and members of management are top class and should be recommended for an award. Residents receive very good care and the home should have a higher compliance rating.

This is a lovely caring well decorated and maintained care home. The manager and all staff are friendly and welcoming towards both residents and their families. They are very professional in everything they do. Residents and their visitors are encouraged to take part in daily activities to help stimulate and socialise with one another. Food menus are in place to help encourage a varied healthy diet. My mum loves staying here and is making a lot of new friends. This certainly is a "friendly, caring, home from home".

Everyone is happy and the staff are treasures.
