My name is Tiago Fernandes, originally from Portugal and moved to the UK 10 years ago to pursue a meaningful career in care. I hold a bachelor’s degree in educational sciences, which I completed in Portugal, followed by six months of study in France. My passion has always been centred around helping others and making a positive difference in people’s lives.
When I arrived in the UK, I began working as a support worker in a residential home for adults with learning disabilities. I later moved into supported living services, where I supported individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviours. During that time, I took on a leadership role, working closely with the team to create a safe and supportive environment where everyone could thrive and reach their daily goals.
My journey then led me to join Anchor as a care assistant. Within a year, I progressed to team leader, and I now proudly serve as Deputy Manager. Throughout this journey, my focus has remained the same: delivering high-quality, person-centred care, supporting my team, and ensuring that each resident feels valued, respected, and cared for.I believe in a positive and proactive approach to care—one that promotes independence, dignity, and joy every single day.
