Visited a number of care homes but no comparison to this one. Where it is situated, car park, the passion of staff, support not only for residents but also relatives.

I cannot praise the Manager and her dedicated team of staff enough for the support they have given our family. Our Aunt had previously stayed at the Royal Hampton on two occasions in the last couple of years for convalescence following surgery, so it seemed the obvious place for the heartbreaking task
of finding her a palliative care home for her last few weeks. Right from our early contact and requests for information, to a tour of the stunning care home itself, then help choosing the right room and organising the transfer; the team have been exemplary in providing thoughtful and skilled responses. We were juggling a 600-mile round trip to visit, but knowing our Aunt was safe, happy, near her friends and well cared for was such a reassurance. The attention to dignity, comfort, communication and working with other services in her last days made this difficult time more bearable. It is a stunning venue, with passionate and caring staff. Everything a family would want for their loved ones.

My parents have lived happily in Royal Hampton since it opened over a year ago. They are always treated with dignity and respect.
We visit frequently and have enjoyed spending quality time with my parents, staff and other residents at Royal Hampton in a variety of activities including film nights,
special occasion meals and just being together.
Our sons and their girlfriends ( all in early 20's) feel comfortable visiting and have had meals and their Christmas lunch there.
Staff are excellent.
The staff know my parents very well and we do feel that this is my parents' "home".
Staff will always accommodate their wishes - whether to get up a bit later, brunch or how to fit in watching Andrew Marr programme . We are off to the Ponteland rep society production with 5 residents this afternoon.

My wife and I have been very impressed with the overall quality of the home and its facilities. My father was one of the first residents and at the time was severely crippled by arthritis and feeling very low. He underwent a risky hip replacement operation and was excellently supported and looked after
throughout his recovery. Having regained his mobility and with the care and stimulation provided at the home, he is once again enjoying a comfortable and more active life.

My mother has been a resident at Royal Hampton since April 2016.
The overall standard of the home is excellent.
She has a lovely room which is always kept spotlessly clean. She likes to spend most of her time in her room, often watching sport on television.
She is always treated with dignity and
respect and regards the carers as her friends, enjoying chatting to them.

My mother has lived at The Royal Hampton since October 2016. As the home is newly built, to a very high standard, ones first impressions when visiting are almost inevitably favourable. The lounge, restaurant, and public areas are furnished and decorated to a very high standard. There is a wide choice
of rooms and residents are given considerable freedom to personalise their rooms. However the most positive element of the Royal Hampton is its staff. They, without exception, have been exceptional. Their kindness and consideration towards their residents is remarkable - I cannot praise them highly enough. For that reason I would recommend The Royal Hampton unreservedly.

Although the group is well established, Royal Hampton is a developing new home still with vacancies just waiting to be filled by residents looking for a quality of life not found in many care homes. After a difficult experience over many months at another nursing home, the move here has been so positive
not just for my sister but also for me and for her friends. It is now a pleasure to visit. All members of staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and interested. The building and facilities are impressive but would be nothing without the warmth offered by the caring staff.

My husband suffers with Parkinsons and Lewy Bodies and since his stay at Royal Hampton, I have seen a remarked improvement in his mobility and well-being. The home not only offers excellent surroundings giving the feeling your stay is in a luxury hotel, but more important to me is that my husband is
receiving excellent nursing and care from professional staff who are aware of him needing help with his motivation each day. Highly recommended.

My parents have been residents of Royal Hampton for about one month. I cannot praise the home and its staff enough.

The quality of the private rooms, catering, communal rooms and facilities are of the highest order. It feels like an upmarket hotel rather than a nursing home.

The management and

staff cannot do enough for my parents. My parents comment regularly on how caring and attentive the staff are.

As family members of residents, we are made most welcome too. The home allows us to have meals with my parents whenever we choose. We have had some lovely Sunday lunches, weekday evening meals and, today, a 5 star Mothers' Day afternoon tea.

My parents love being there and that makes my sister and I feel very comfortable with the choice of care home that we have made for our parents.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.811) out of 10 for Royal Hampton - Ponteland is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.811 for Royal Hampton - Ponteland is calculated as follows: ( (206 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 249 Ratings = 4.811
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Royal Hampton - Ponteland is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 73 registered maximum number of service users is 14.6, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2018

I was born in May 1969 in Hythe in the New Forest in Hampshire. I have a younger brother Neil who currently lives in New Zealand with his family.

My Father is a qualified engineer and as a result, we moved around the country with his work, moving to the North East in 1976.

I completed my High School years at Greenfield School in Newton Aycliffe and King Edwards V school in Morpeth. Leaving to go on a pre-nursing course at Ashington Tech.

I studied at St George's Hospital in Morpeth completing my Registered Mental Nurse training in 1990.

I married Karleen in 2014 and between us, we have seven children. I now have 3 grandchildren who give me immense pleasure and joy. The children and grandchildren are always at our house so home life is hectic and noisy but I wouldn't have it any other way.

We have three dogs and three cats but have had many different animals over the years.
I have worked in the private sector since 1991 and have managed care homes since 1994, specialising predominately in Dementia Care. I won "Best Dementia Care Manager" Award with the Dementia Times in 2010.
I have worked at Royal Hampton since 2018, it is an amazing place to work with lovely people and see myself here until I retire.
