My nanna has been a resident since September 2020 and has received outstanding care during this time, she is well looked after and the staff are excellent; they are also more than happy to go that extra mile. Big shout out to the wellbeing team too, who are fantastic with their everyday activities with everybody and their FaceTimes to keep us in touch with our loved ones. They are fantastic. Thank you so much to all of you.

My husband was only in the care home from Friday the 16th to Tuesday the 20th when he passed away. He had been transferred from the hospital as palliative care, but we could see he was going down. The care he and I were given was second to none. My son is a doctor, and he was most impressed. I cannot answer about the activities as he was too ill or the values fo money as he was NHS funded, and I have no idea on fees.

My brother and his wife both resided at Sand Banks. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law recently passed away, and I have been very concerned about my brother. I want to first thank your wonderful caregivers for the incredible care of them both. I'm really impressed with the way they have nurtured my brother, and I see him on Facebook, dancing and singing. He looks so happy it's a joy to behold. Also, I see the many activities available to everyone. I often wish I could be there joining in but since I live in Canada this is the next best thing to being there. Thank you. You are the best.

I can see the difference you all have made to my mother in the short time she has been in residence. Before she went into Sand Banks she had been through a traumatic time and at 92 hard to bear. I have not been inside Sand Banks as I Live in Cornwall and unable to visit at this difficult time but through your Facebook page, I can visualise where my Mam is and what she has been up to throughout the day. Your staff give their all to the residents. The FaceTime links are great which gives me one to one with my Mam. I look forward to when I can visit in person.

Since this Covid 19 outbreak, I have found the staff to be very caring of the residents more so because we can't be. We get regular updates on their health and asked to bring things to the reception that the residents require e.g. new clothes especially trousers. There is a well-organised FaceTime which is lovely to see their faces light up when they see you. They are kept occupied with the many activities and crafts that are organised every day by the wellness team and show us pictures and videos of them. Overall she is clean and tidy and looks well. Thank you.

I have always found Sand Banks to be extremely clean and tidy at all times. The rooms are spotless. Beds are fresh and tidy. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and very polite.

Good variety of food for residents. Visitors are always welcome to tea and biscuits when the tea trolley comes around. The gardens are outstanding. A bbq would go down well. Pets welcome.

We would definitely recommend Sand Banks Care Centre, it is lovely, light and airy and always spotless. My mother-in-law has been on there for nearly two years. All the staff are fantastic, senior carers, care assistants, cleaners, kitchen, wellbeing staff, handymen, and anyone I’ve missed. They haven’t had a manager for a while but we have had dealings with the stand-in manager and the deputy manager and all the staff we have had the pleasure of meeting have been caring, considerate and empathetic, especially over this tough COVID-19 experience. That has made us all sit up and think. Without our regular FaceTime calls it would have been unbearable, for that we have to thank the team and also to thank them for all the things they do over and above what’s expected. It would be good if management could send out regular emails keeping all relatives updated, but to be fair the Sand Banks Facebook does a great job keeping us informed on most things.

My father has been a resident of Sand Banks Care Centre since July 2018 and has received good care throughout. The staff are very friendly and always go the extra mile to ensure the residents are cared for and entertained. The rooms are very spacious and all areas of the home are kept very clean. The Facebook page which is regularly maintained by the superb activity coordinators has been so helpful in keeping us informed, especially during the Covid-19 outbreak. I would not hesitate to recommend the care centre to others.

I feel that management should be much more transparent and have better communication with the resident's family. Often we hear about things by accident, such as the present home visits, whereas a simple email or text message, informing us of the appointment system would have been appreciated. The results of tests are also not communicated.

Reply from Margaret Roe, Senior Operations Manager at Sand Banks Care Centre

Many thanks for your generally positive review. This is a particularly tough time for residents and their families, as well as our team, who have never had to face anything of this nature previously. Your constructive criticism will certainly prove helpful and be taken on board as a good learning experience.
