From first entering Shipston Lodge Nursing Home, I felt heard and understood. A Father with dementia and a Mother with a broken hip required very different care. Food was and is tailored to their needs; it is prepared by talented chefs. I cannot recommend this nursing home highly enough. It has the most professional nursing staff, who, with the support of the kindest care assistance, housekeeping, maintenance and activity coordinators, deliver exceptional care!

Caring and understanding - go beyond. My husband came to Shipston Lodge in January before Covid - he has been extremely well looked after as his condition gets worse. The quality of care is really good and all the carers care. The food etc is second to none.

Everything possible was done to put my husband and me at ease, as this was his first residential experience. At the end of his respite, my husband was full of praise for everything about his experience - food, staff, facilities and activities.

My mom came here at very short notice after an acute deterioration in physical and mental status. The staff have been kind, itself, indeed "fantastic" to use my mum's words. We have changed from a family of constant worry about Mum's frailty to one which has every confidence she is as safe as it is practically possible to achieve, and we can really enjoy our times visiting her.

Overall Experience
I am coming towards the end of my stay at Shipston Lodge, having been here for a little over two months undertaking respite care.
I received a very warm welcome from the outset, and all the staff have been tremendously helpful throughout.
Although requiring a relatively low level of care, my experience has been first-class.
The food is excellent, with a varied menu and a daily choice. Whilst residents are encouraged to take meals in the restaurant, there is equally an option to have them in their room, which has been my preference.
There is a range of activities for those who wish to participate, and facilities include a pub, hairdressing salon and cinema.
Minor issues have been minimal, and those that have arisen have always been addressed promptly and effectively.
All in all, the ‘home’ can arguably be compared with a five-star hotel.

I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Shipston Lodge to anyone requiring high-quality, permanent or respite care.

My sister and I found it a very challenging, emotional and stressful relocating both our parents at the same time into a nursing home. Both have major mobility issues, and one has dementia as well. On arrival, we were welcomed by many members of staff. All staff are very friendly and always eager to help. Shipston Lodge is very clean, bright and well-appointed. Food is excellent, laundry efficient, and nursing care is excellent. Mum loves getting her hair done, and both enjoy the wonderful and carried activities. Our parents are treated with dignity and respect at all times. Phone calls and emails are answered promptly and efficiently. We are always informed if there are any issues. Care reviews have been useful. We are so pleased with their transition into Shipston Lodge.

My mother-in-law has settled into Shipston Lodge really well. She has everything done for her in a kind and empathetic manner. He demeanour has changed as she's settled, and her smile has come back! We are always made to feel welcome and are met with a lovely smile from the receptionist. The carers really care. The home offers a safe, modern and clean environment with so much to do and be involved in.

My father spent the last nine months of his life at Shipston Lodge. From the outset, we were extremely impressed with the professional, caring environment created and the variety of activities provided - my mother came away thinking Dad was in a hotel! All of the staff were absolutely amazing, led by an incredible manager. The team really engaged with both family and residents, making everyone feel special, and nothing was too much trouble. This is a happy place with super service provided. Heartfelt thanks to you all.

Thank you so much to you and your team for the excellent nursing care you gave my husband during his final days.
The atmosphere in Shipston Lodge felt like a 5-star hotel, and everyone exuded warmth and support throughout.
We couldn’t have asked for better care.
The nurses, carers and hospitality teams did go the extra mile for my husband and the family in making sure he was comfortable, and we were well catered for on every visit.
A special thank you for including a family Sunday lunch for eight of us and offering a dedicated room for family members staying overnight during his final hours. It meant a lot.
Your dedicated team maintained respect and dignity at the end, for which we will be eternally grateful.
When we first met the manager, she said, “Shipston Lodge offered the best death experience”, and my husband certainly experienced that.

Sincere thanks again. from all our family.

Whilst my mother was only in Shipston Lodge for a few months, my sisters and I lost count of the times we said, “we can’t fault” it. The facilities are obviously first rate but much more importantly so are the staff and management. Nothing was too much trouble when caring for both my mother and her family as visitors. Exceptional care, communication, sensitivity and dignity at a difficult time. Thank you so much.

My mother-in-law has stayed recently, and we were overwhelmed with Shipston Lodge staff, especially with the manager. She is absolutely wonderful, as is all the staff. The treatment, food, everything is unbelievable. Everywhere is so clean and fresh. I wouldn't think of ever going to another care home with my mother-in-law. She absolutely loves her time here. I would recommend Shipston Lodge to anybody who is in need of care.

We had been trying to find somewhere for my mother to go into respite care, and Shipston Lodge was recommended. As soon as we walked in through the door, we fell in love with the place straight away. When we arrived, on admission day, the manager and the staff were so friendly, as if we have known them for years. The rooms and all areas of the home are absolutely beautiful. Since then, four times we returned for respite, knowing she will be well looked after. I can not stress enough how wonderful and caring the manager and her team are with my mother. She treats her like she is her own mother. I will recommend Shipston Lodge to everybody who wants quality care.

My mother thrived at Shipston Lodge in the last year of her life. After she moved there at the age of 97, she looked years younger, became more active and engaged, loved the staff and made friends with other residents. When she experienced a sudden and terminal event, she and our family received exceptional care and support in her last few days.
I am a retired GP, experienced in geriatric and end-of-life care, and I cannot speak highly enough of the standard of care at Shipton Lodge.

We could not have asked for anything more.

My parents were apprehensive and daunted at the prospect of two weeks of respite care after Dad was struggling to be independent with a fractured collar bone. They were given a warm, friendly welcome to bright, sunny surroundings. They comment that the kindness from all the staff has been outstanding, and have gone home stronger and refreshed. The food has been especially commented on. The Lodge has been a very positive first experience of respite care.

My father has been a resident for 18 months, and I cannot fault the care. It was a big decision for us to put him in a nursing home, but we have been delighted with the decision.
