My father is a new resident to Ascot Grange and as a family, we feel that he is in a safe and caring environment totally suited to his needs. He has adapted quickly to his new life there which is a credit to all the team. The pandemic has made life tough, most especially for those in care homes. I believe
that Ascot Grange dealt with the situation in a way that benefitted the residents ahead of themselves. Totally selfless. We also remain in contact with my father via video calls which have been invaluable for us as a family but we are certainly looking forward to sharing some cinema nights in the amazing cinema room there with my father when the world returns to a safe normality. Thank you!

Mum moved into Ascot Grange just before the Coronavirus lockdown commenced. She was warmly welcomed and immediately made to feel at home. The kindness and care Mum has received from all the staff throughout this challenging time has been wonderful. The staff have done their very best to keep Mum occupied
and entertained during necessary periods of isolation and much reduced social contact. They have arranged video calls with various family members to help Mum keep in touch. Mum is certainly happier than she has been in a long time and I know she feels safe and cared for in her new home. Thank you to all the staff who have helped to improve Mum's quality of life. You are all doing an amazing job.

Dad has been with Ascot Grange for just under a year. With the current Coronavirus circumstances, I am so pleased that he is safe with access to medical care and support. The staff have been amazing during this difficult time, and although temporary measures have been put in place (cancelling their
trips and entertainment etc) he has been kept busy.
The staff genuinely care and are really good with Dad. I have seen a real difference in him, he is more confident, and no longer just sat in front of his TV like he was doing at home. Staff are good at sending me photos through the care portal, and I like that I can log in and see what he has been up to. They have also helped Dad video call me; which is great.
Reply from Mariam Rafiq, Client Liaison Manager at Ascot Grange Care Home - Avery CollectionThank you for your lovely feedback. This is a rapidly changing situation and the safety and wellbeing of our residents are of the utmost priority. Having the care technology to share information with families in realtime is a great tool. I will share your feedback with the team.

Visiting the home for private dining with friends. It was a truly memorable and enjoyable experience. From entering the home we were greeted by the team and a wheelchair for my friend. We were shown around the home, provided with coffee in the cafe prior to lunch. Lunch was amazing, the food was beautiful,
the staff were warm, friendly and kind, attentive without being overbearing. A wonderful afternoon was had by all, it completely changed our perception of what a care home is like.

Home is beautiful and modern, but the care they give my Nan is excellent. She looks healthier than she was at home. She’s kept busy and the dementia team make a real effort to reminisce with her which she loves.

Ascot Granges' activities for its residents are simply great - each time I see my mother she has yet another tale to tell - yesterday she was telling me about the flamenco dancer they had watched by doing the dance steps and she so enjoyed the Burns night with the piper and dancers. You are really adding
life to her years and a quality of life as well.
Thank you so much.

Recently my auntie has moved into Ascot Grange. She has been made to feel so welcome and has settled in nicely. The activities they offer are always keeping her busy. She recently went on an outing to a London Museum and couldn’t have had a better day. I now have peace of mind that my auntie is not
at home on her own and is being well cared for in this friendly and welcoming home.

My Mum came in for some respite after her hip operation. The home was fantastic. The staff and the physio worked together to get mum mobile again. They have an Ortho Rehab programme which I was really impressed with. The home is very clean and modern. It is a very lively home and the atmosphere is lovely.
They encouraged my mum to get involved in their trips out which she loved. She is now seriously considering living there full time.

Mum and previously dad have received excellent care whilst they have been at Ascot Grange. Although the permanent staff have to cope with being short-staffed they manage brilliantly and manage to remain cheerful especially with the residents. The staff has been very supportive of me during difficult
times and have helped mum after the loss of my dad and kept us informed of how she was coping.

The overall standard is good/excellent. My husband requires a great deal of care and this can be demanding. There are not enough carers at weekends but the care they give is good and they are committed. Meals vary in quality and temperature. The residents who are mainly room bound should be given fresh
fruit which should be available at all times. Proper fluid charts should be available where appropriate.

All the staff are excellent and very caring, but there is not enough of them.
Good staff are continually leaving suggesting that their pay and conditions are not good.
The home is in a lovely setting but not easy to get to except by car, maybe another factor discouraging new carers etc.
This home
could be brilliant with sufficient staff. Mangement need to find ways to make staff want to stay.
Reply from Mariam Rafiq, Client Liaison Manager at Ascot Grange Care Home - Avery CollectionThank you for taking the time to review us at Signature at Ascot Grange. You couldn't be more right when you say our staff are excellent, and above all, caring - we agree.
We pride ourselves on our robust recruitment process, selecting high calibre skilled employees and have been putting more emphasis on recognising and rewarding performance, encouraging career progression. In addition, we held a recruitment Open Day on the 15th Oct which was a huge success. Although there are no bus links, staff have a dedicated parking area and we offer incentives for car sharing.

We have been very pleased with Ascot Grange overall. The residential staff are exemplary, although we feel that there are not enough! Too many agency carers brought in to offset the shortage.
Reply from William Burke, CLM at Ascot Grange Care Home - Avery CollectionThank you for taking the time to review us at Signature at Ascot Grange. We are so proud of our excellent team here and your feedback will mean a lot to them. We always ensure we have a full team here to respond to our residents' needs in a timely manner, and at times we must bridge a gap with the use of pre-qualified agency staff. Please rest assured we are very selective about who we use and expect the same high standards from them as we do from our own employees.

My 95-year-old mother fell and broke her thigh bone and after 2 weeks in hospital, they insisted on discharging her, even though she couldn't stand.
She came to Ascot Grange and received wonderful care. She had enriched food and milkshakes to build up her strength, but the staff are the home's greatest
asset.
They are loving, caring, patient and always cheerful and my mother was always treated with dignity and respect.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.922)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.922) out of 10 for Ascot Grange Care Home - Avery Collection is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.922 for Ascot Grange Care Home - Avery Collection is calculated as follows: ( (237 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 255 Ratings = 4.922
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ascot Grange Care Home - Avery Collection is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 106 registered maximum number of service users is 21.2, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2022

Thank you for taking the time to read our bios. We love to see prospective customers, families and friends, new members of staff and the local community taking an interest in our community.

I am the General Manager for Ascot Grange. My role is to ensure that we deliver what we say we do. I am responsible for overall service delivery to our customers and community, inspiring and leading the onsite team and ensuring high standards of governance and compliance are achieved.

Over the last 20 years, I have had the privilege of serving the healthcare sector by managing and leading frontline care services for our elderly population. I have come into contact with many individuals who have willingly shared their life experiences and wisdom. This has reinforced my sense of duty and heightened my level of respect for our elders.

Over that time, I have been proud to lead and work alongside some amazing team members who have had a genuine passion for care and a true desire to serve. I have learned a great deal from these colleagues along my career journey.

I am very much a people person. I truly believe in the values of responsibility, integrity, kindness, compassion and doing what I can for others. The care sector has afforded me the opportunity to ‘live’ these values in the workplace, for which I am truly grateful.

I was immediately drawn to Ascot Grange because of the culture and principles the organisation aspires to. After visiting the home and meeting some of the residents and staff, I knew that this was where I wanted to work. I subsequently joined the Ascot Grange team in January 2022. I am now passionately working with the community and team here to take the home’s services forward. The team and I are fully committed to embedding the core principles of empathy, care, compassion and integrity into the Ascot Grange community.

Please note that my door is always open: do not hesitate to come and talk to me, should you need anything or if I can assist.

Thank you again for your interest in our community.

I am delighted to join the team at Ascot Grange as the Dementia Care Manager working with the Devenish Community and other residents on the dementia pathway. I strongly believe that all residents should be supported in living their life to the full and ensuring all are supported as an individual.

I have spent my career working in care with companies including Somerset Care and more latterly McCarty and Stone as an Area Manager.

When not at work I love to travel. I am from a large family and am lucky to have them close by so we are all able to spend lots of time together.

Job Title: Nurse Care Manager Joined: 2022

I started my career in care 25 years ago when I worked as a care assistant in a nursing home. This is where I found my love of caring for our older generation and I was inspired to become a nurse. I have been qualified for 14 years now working in various roles in the NHS, mainly in day surgery and surgical wards; in care homes as a senior nurse and deputy manager.

I began my journey with Ascot Grange as Nurse Care Manager in April 2022. It is a great privilege to be given the opportunity to work with such a wonderful team. It is my passion to make sure all residents at Ascot Grange have the best quality of care.

Having started my journey at Ascot Grange in 2020, I still feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to work in such a wonderful place with caring residents and staff alike. I have seen the home go from strength to strength and with the addition of new heads of department to the team, I am sure the home will continue to grow and increase from the solid foundations being built. I will continue to bring my knowledge from my past experiences and the experiences over the past year and continue to pair it with the vision and values that Ascot Grange and the people, both staff and residents here embody. I am looking forward to meeting you all when our current climate allows. My door will always be open if you want a chat.
