The care from the staff was excellent, everybody was attentive and could find no faults.
Activities were very good to outstanding. The staff here worked their socks off but the audience did have limited ability! Meals, breakfast outstanding, fresh to order. Cakes and drinks outstanding. Main meals
varied, some outstanding, others poor and sometimes needed extra heating after reaching the upper floor.

Everyone at St Ives was fantastic with my mum. We were in crisis and desperately needed to move her from the hospital in time for Christmas. From the very first meeting, their kindness, compassion and professionalism have been outstanding. We could not have asked for them to do more to support Mum and
us during an incredibly challenging time. Although Mum only stayed on a respite package, we were all made to feel a part of the St Ives family and are so grateful to them for everything.

My sister was kindly taken into St Ives House as an emergency late in the evening. She stayed for respite care for over two weeks and we were welcomed when we visited and advised on her situation. She quickly became familiar with the layout and made friends with the staff and fellow residents and enjoyed
walks in the surrounding gardens. We felt very relieved that she was in good hands and thank the staff for their care and kindness to us.

My experience is based on two weeks of respite care, however, in that time I found the management team proactive, sensitive and always having the time to talk to us. They were professional, caring and friendly. It is an impressive site and is spacious. The garden areas seemed lacking somewhat in character
and were rather bland. The food seemed good and the resident was eating it which is sometimes a challenge. The resident enjoyed the activities. The nursing staff seemed caring and one of them was particularly impressive. The rooms are pretty standard.

After a difficult Covid period, we took the decision to move my great aunt into St Ives House - with some anxiety as she had lived in the same bungalow for 65 years. However, any concerns we had were immediately relieved by the highly professional and very caring welcome that the whole family felt from
day one. The home itself is very well appointed and the manager, together with her very able deputy has created a wonderfully calm and relaxed environment there. During my great aunt's time there, I had nothing but admiration for the way the home was managed and for the care that was delivered by all the staff. It provided great reassurance to myself and other family members. In addition, every request that I made of the manager or deputy was responded to promptly and efficiently. They could not have been more helpful, and I always felt that the welfare of the residents was truly at the forefront of everything they did.

St Ives House provided Mum with a lovely home, where she laughed, made friends and pursued hobbies. The staff treated her with great kindness and respect. She felt safe and supported and taken care of in every way.

The first time I went to view St Ives, I immediately felt at home and knew my mum would be very welcome and well looked after. I cannot praise the team there enough for how willing they were to provide Mum with respite care at very short notice. We were always treated with courtesy and kindness, particularly
by the management team. I will be forever grateful to them.

My mother lived at St Ives House for four years and during that time, her Alzheimer's steadily progressed until she lost her battle with it in early February. The love, care and attention that she received during her time at St Ives were truly remarkable, from housekeeping to management, all the staff
gave us the confidence that Mum was definitely in the right place. When the end came, her lovely carers were so supportive of us as a family and we cannot thank them enough. We will be forever grateful.

An exceptional care home for friendliness, attention and treating residents as if it was their own home. We all have problems at some time but nothing was ever too much trouble. The home is extremely spacious and set in beautiful grounds. I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

After three previous care home trials, St Ives House was clearly the best and just a shame we didn't try here at the beginning as it turned out to be almost perfect and a real home from home.

It's a difficult time when you realise you need to place your parents into a care home, but we were fortunate to know of St Ives House. My mother was a resident for two years, and my father for four years. The home has a lovely, happy and welcoming atmosphere and is well-managed. The different needs
of the residents are cared for superbly. Most important are the staff who provide personal care, who are so patient and caring. They are amazing. We know our parents were well cared for.

Both my parents spent the final years of their lives at St Ives Country House (my father with Alzheimer's).
The care received by both has not only been outstanding but highly personal and sympathetic. They (and I) have found the management and staff to be very friendly, approachable and communicative.
Furthermore, the house and gardens are beautifully presented.

My mother lived at St Ives House for almost two and half years until she recently passed away, and I can not praise the care she got high enough. She became a resident during the height of Covid restrictions, and the staff did everything in their power to make sure she settled in and felt safe.
Throughout
her time there, she was treated with love and dignity by all the staff, from the housekeeping and kitchen staff right up to the senior managers. We were always kept informed of how she was doing and always made her very welcome when we visited.
In the last few weeks of mum's life, they really went above and beyond, making sure if we weren't there, the staff went in and sat with her and chatted with her. This above-and-beyond level of care even extended after her death, as did the support offered to us. I have done this in the past and wouldn't hesitate in the future to recommend St Ives. The staff really do become part of an extended family for both residents and their relations.

Very clean and tidy home. The residents are well looked after and we are always kept informed of my mother's condition. The carers are very friendly and look after my mother very well. The organised party at Christmas and birthdays are always carried out well.

Our mother spent nearly two years at St Ives, where the wonderful staff and management cared for her with the dreadful effect of Dementia and Alzheimer's, making their work even more difficult. At the end, the staff were all extremely thoughtful to Mum and her two boys through very difficult times.
We could not have wanted anything better for Mum throughout her stay at St Ives.

My parents have been happy residents of St Ives for some years now, and when my uncle's care home closed during the pandemic, we had no hesitation in bringing him to St Ives. It is light and airy, with very dedicated staff who underpin the warm ambience of the home and provide great care with respect
and dignity. It is well-managed, and communication with families is excellent. Any problems we have had have been resolved swiftly and efficiently. I feel that my relatives are completely safe in their hands and their care and happiness are central to everything they do. Great people!

Job Title: Home Manager

I’m Emma and I’m the very proud manager of St Ives House. I have worked with Care South for over 20 years, managing a number of their care homes in Dorset. My earliest memories of wanting to be a carer come from my childhood; Mum was a carer and it was great meeting her colleagues and being there with the residents.


I believe in a loving, caring environment for our residents; there is nothing better than spending my days with them and hearing about their life experiences, they constantly amaze me. I love my job because no two days are the same at St Ives House.
