Stratton Court provided a safe haven after my discharge from the hospital for rehabilitation after a nasty accident involving multiple fractures. The staff were very supportive and caring. They provided personal care, nursing and encouragement in a pleasant setting.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, and we are pleased to hear you felt such comfort and support during your rehabilitation. We will pass this on to our staff and wish you well in your recovery.
Very quickly found out why it's rated as ‘Needs Improvement ‘ by the Care Quality Commission.
Nice set up in a well-equipped building but a lousy service. A few examples from a long list from my 90-year-old mother’s brief stay so far:
On check-in offered a welcome tour, but instead just taken straight to the room.
No welcome, explanation of facilities, or scheduled activities provided.
Meals arrive at random times, often cold, often missing courses (“we didn’t get any starters today - it often happens”) stated the helper.
A handset for the TV took two days to arrive after multiple requests (and phone calls from family) - essential for someone largely bed bound
On my last visit, I only saw two care staff members - both tapping on their phones, and so on.
Outwardly this place looks very pleasant but care standards and service are rock bottom.
We were considering a longer stay, but no chance!
Stratton Court stepped in to provide high-quality, urgent care for my father - even travelling to collect him from his home on a bank holiday. They have worked to help him regain his independence and have provided me with an immense amount of support. My aunt (who has suitably high standards) described the home as sparkling clean too!
Thank you so much for taking the time to review Stratton Court Care Home; we are thrilled to receive such positive feedback, which we will pass on to our team today. It was a pleasure to care for your father, and we are delighted to see him regain independence.
My 85-year-old mum stayed for two weeks at Stratton Court Care Home to test its suitability for respite care when she has hip replacement surgery in the coming months. She is fiercely independent and hates fuss, so I wondered how even a temporary stay would work out. I needn't have worried. Whilst the facilities and meals are notably good, what really stood out for us both was the wonderfully kind and thoughtful staff. They respected immediately that on this first visit, my mum was just 'testing the water', so let her take the lead on how much or little attention she wanted each day. When she came down with a cold virus, she was grateful for the way they quietly stepped up. The stay was a great success. When I took my mum home, she couldn't speak highly enough about she had been welcomed. This is hugely reassuring for her and me as we look ahead to her operation.
Thank you for taking the time to review Stratton Court Care Home, and thank you for such kind words. We are so pleased the stay was such a success, and we took great pleasure in welcoming your mum to our home. We hope to see her following her operation and wish you a wonderful 2023.
A beautiful home with staff where nothing is too much trouble. Welcoming, friendly and exceptionally clean. Amazing facilities, a good location and lots of activities. Security and temperature checks and masks all serve to keep everyone safe. Attention to detail is second to none.
Thank you for taking the time to review our home and leaving such wonderful feedback. We are thrilled to hear of your wonderful experience and will feed this back to the team and management.
My experience of Stratton is one of receiving a lovely welcome, and everything my friend needed was given! I will choose there when my time comes! The suites are amazing and give a wonderful sense of independence and cared for.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We are thrilled that you have had a wonderful experience with Stratton Court Care Home and that your friend felt cared for and supported at our home.
My mother came to Stratton Court Village in April 2022 and still resides there. As she has Huntington's disease, this is now her home. While this is not a very commonly recognised disease, the entirety of the staff has been unbelievably kind, understanding, caring and helpful. They have all made myself and my family feel welcome, and we feel part of the Stratton Court family. We can visit with ease and come away satisfied she is receiving the best care. I am also extremely impressed with the lifestyle lead here; he does so much to organise activities for all of the residents to partake in. This means a lot to my family, as my mother is bed-bound, but he always takes the time to make her feel included and involved. Whether it be choir visits or controlled pet visitations and lots in between, he does this for all the residents either in groups or as individuals - he caters to their preferences. They all honestly do their best to cater to all whether residents or visitors; it is truly wonderful.
From the very beginning, the staff on all levels have been nothing but amazing.
His level of care is second to none.
He needs full care with all daily tasks from feeding/hoisting/bathing/medications.
He is fully disabled and has dementia, though he is only 47 years. The staff are wonderful with him, and I know they have fun with him as he still has a good sense of humour.
I found the staff particularly helpful and caring. The shortage of staff was noticeable but was very willing. I made a lot of progress which I was there for. I had to leave early because we had a new case of Covid, advised by one of your managers to leave, especially as I have been very ill before. I am hoping I will be reimbursed for those four days.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review, Ann, we are happy to hear you recovered well due to the care we provided and look forward to you visiting us soon.
Dreadful home! All for show - "hotel-style" rooms not at all suitable for users with mobility issues. Large number of male carers with little English - long waits for buzzer to be answered. Food was extremely poor quality and invariably cold. My elderly mother hated it, and it definitely did not provide the care and support she needed. It was also very expensive. Avoid at all costs!
We’re really sorry to read your mother’s experience of our home was below expectations. We place residents’ wellbeing at the heart of everything we do and take feedback like yours seriously. It would be very helpful if you could kindly email us at christine.wood@auracareliving.com to discuss your concerns with our new Home Manager in more detail. We look forward to hearing from you.
From the moment Mum arrived, the warm welcome, exceptional care by wonderful staff, has reassured us as he family. Mum really is in a beautiful, extremely efficient, caring environment, happy home. All that we could wish for; thank you.
My father had to go into Stratton Court for a week of respite at very short notice. When he arrived, he was adamant that he was not going to stay, but through the careful intervention and help of the staff, he agreed to stay one night. By day two, he was extremely happy and settled, and after several days, was the happiest we have seen my father in a long time. We were astonished by the amount of time the staff gave to us and my father on admission, even though it was the weekend.
The staff are all extremely kind and professional. My father has been very well cared for in a beautiful care home.
We would highly recommend Stratton Court.
The care and support shown to my mother have been exceptional during her time here. They have shown the utmost respect and dignity towards her. The actual home is excellent in decor, and the staff are always welcoming and cheerful.
Cannot fault anything.
My husband spent his last few weeks at Stratton Court care home. He was well looked after and well cared for. There was good communication regarding his needs and they were excellent at sharing his experience through videos and photos. As relatives we were well accommodated. They fed us, looked after us and were always warm and friendly. The experience was above our expectation.
After caring for Mum for 9-years in our own house, it was hard handing her caring to someone else when I knew Mum inside out. Mum has lots of small problems, which all mount up, so it's been hard trying to get my message across for help, but Stratton Court has taken over in a safe and friendly way. I now sleep at nights although it was tough going for me, not having contact during this virus, but they organised What's App video calls and phone calls and now I can visit Mum at the other side of her patio doors and speak to her on the phone. The rooms are lovely, it is spotless and clean, the staff are just lovely including management, and they are starting to feel like an extended family. Mum feels safe and as contented as she can be, and I feel 100% happy that they go above and beyond for her in exceptional times, which have been hard on everyone; they really do care. Thank you, you don't know the difference you have made.
Sadly, we only got to see dad another couple of times before the home was locked down, this was so hard but totally and utterly understandable! I worried how we would cope, how dad would cope, but the videos that the manager sent us on a daily basis were just wonderful, I know dad had good days and a lot of bad, but the care was second to none.
You spoke to him like a person and an adult. One of the videos we received filled us with so much joy, seeing dad eating soup and dunking his bread sat at the dining table, he looked so content and so happy.
We still miss him every day and are slowly coming to terms with him leaving us and the fact we had not seen him since March. Thank you for all that you did for dad.
The staff are very caring and professional, cleanliness was of a high standard. Due to the COVID-19 virus visiting my mum was restricted, however, the management arranged zoom meetings so the family were able to see and talk to mum.
My husband spent only a short time at Stratton Court, as he was transferred there from the hospital for end of life palliative care. Despite that, my memories of the care given to my husband will remain with me for a very long time. The quality of care was exceptionally high; nothing was too much trouble. Medical staff went out of their way to explain the complexities of my husband's condition. An ethos of care, kindness and empathy prevailed throughout, and my husband was treated with respect and compassion by everyone. It was impressive to witness the dedication of all staff.
Throughout the COVID-19 lockdown, the staff cared for Dad like he was family, sadly my dad passed during lockdown but the staff were with him when we, his family were unable to be. He was well cared for and during this difficult time the whole staff pulled together to care for the residents. The staff ensured the residents were able to be in touch with their families.
When my father passed away, the staff were amazing, despite their own personal pressures as a result of the Covid-19 virus. Everyone was understanding, supportive and thoughtful towards us as a family. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home.
