I qualified as a nurse in 1991, and have worked in a variety of settings including A&E, orthopaedics and specialist nursing before moving into nursing and care homes in 1994. I have experience in Home Management and Regional support and care passionately about ensuring that my teams and I provide high quality, person centred support to all the residents and their families within our communities.
Working within the New Care Homes family, I have received an incredibly warm welcome and have been impressed not just with the 5 star environments but also with the values and beliefs that are encompassed throughout the whole service. This enables the team to empower those that live with us to live their best lives knowing that they have the support and structure to reach their goals.
I have worked at The Hamptons since April 2018 initially as a Care Assistant, I was quickly promoted the Senior Care Assistant, then Team Leader. In December 2019, I was delighted to be offered the Deputy Home Manager position working alongside the Home Manager. I feel very proud and privileged to be part of the team at The Hamptons.
The Hamptons is such a great place to work. I love setting up varied activity programmes, planning trips based on residents' interests and spending time engaging with residents. I currently hold a Health and Social Care Degree, which strengthens my ability as a Well-Being Co-Ordinator. It has enabled me to be confident in helping, supporting and listening to residents to meet their varied needs. Since working at New Care in The Hamptons, everyone has been so supportive and that makes for such a wonderful environment for residents and staff.
Having worked for Newcare for 3 years now I can say with absolute certainty that it has promoted an environment where learning is fun, accessible and generates positive discussion around improvement. As a trainer, I feel like I am given the opportunity to choose what is right for our staff and to tailor learning to individual needs. The feedback is great and staff look forward to their sessions. But most importantly all staff are listened to and feel part of a great team, no matter their role.
