As a care home, not a nursing home they have given excellent treatment. If anything the only problem has been over the staff as some of the resident's needs do require consistency of care.

This is an excellent facility all staff are very caring and treat everyone with respect. I can't praise the entire staff enough for how they looked after myself and my mother whilst we were residents there for 6 weeks respite. I joined in with as many activities as I could, the food was excellent lots of choice. Came home feeling rejuvenated as also had my hair done by the in-house hairdresser. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone.

For the short time my mum has been a resident at the Hawthorns, she finds the facilities, food, and care very good.

She gets on well with the nursing staff. The main issue she has is the time she has to wait for attendance once she calls for assistance.

Lovely clean care home with a great range of activities for residents and good food. Some care staff are exceptionally good but more awareness of the needs of dementia residents is sometimes needed.

1. I was very satisfied with the exception of the hoist batteries that were failing too frequently and the hoists not being available.
2. Wet rooms need a disabled-friendly extra grab bar and WC tissue holder. I had to supply my own commode.

3. The majority of dinner and supper meals included onions which upset my stomach.

Mom came to live at Hawthorns Aldridge in June. In such a short time. Mom has settled really well. The staff are all so lovely and are making her feel very welcome and loved. The home is spotless and the meals are excellent with plenty of choice. Mom particularly wanted to mention the laundry staff. She says her clothes always come back beautifully pressed and smelling so fresh. On behalf of all the family, thank you to each and every one of you.

I arranged respite care for my 91 year old aunt so that I could go on holiday with my family. Everything was put into place before we went on holiday including viewing the care home and assessing my aunts needs. I have to say that I was extremely impressed with the care home including the rooms for the residents, the meals that were included, the entertainment and the overall ambience of the place.
My aunt was made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. She enjoyed her time there even though this was a new experience for her and she was full of praise for the staff that took care of her.
This gave me complete peace of mind while I was away and I would not hesitate in sending my aunt there again and I know that she would look forward to another 'holiday' there.

Thank you to all the staff at Hawthorns Aldridge - Avery Healthcare.

My mum moved to the Hawthorns in October 2022. She has short term memory problems, and after my father died she struggled to cope by herself. She wasn’t eating regularly and was very isolated. The Hawthorns has been amazing. Mum is kept entertained and stimulated by the twice daily activities (such as art and craft, quizzes, bingo, gardening club, Sunday prayer service etc etc). Recently mum helped (accompanied by members of the Well-being team) at a local running event, a community gardening project and at Christmas attended the Christmas concert at the local primary school. All members of staff - from the care team, housekeeping, reception and management - are always friendly, cheerful and incredibly helpful. Mum has a very spacious room looking out onto the garden. Mum is very happy, and therefore I am very happy too.

My father was a first time user of the Hawthorns respite care for 9 days. As he is recovering from pneumonia he was looking forward to some rest and relaxation.
The building, bedroom, garden, restaurant and rooftop garden are all outstanding and very much enjoyed by my father.
The staff were attentive, kind, friendly and interested in him and his wellbeing.
He thoroughly enjoyed his stay and told me there were just two things he was disappointed with:
- lack of socialisation with other residents. [I put this down to he being there for a short respite period. He did not join in any organised activities, as they did not interest him. And I had organised friends and relatives to take him out for a couple of hours most days. So that may account for this.]

- disappointed with the general standard of food. The breakfast was good. My father was disappointed with the quality of the main meal and some of the tea selections were quite stodgy. [It must be difficult to please everyone all of the time !]

My mother has been at the Hawthorns Aldridge now for 9 months and has settled in really well. She has memory problems due to her dementia but is very happy in the environment. The staff are all very helpful and any concerns we have had or specific needs they have worked hard to accommodate. The home is spotlessly clean and the food is of an excellent standard. The range of activities is extensive and she has been involved in several trips out with the staff and other residents which she has enjoyed. Overall we cannot fault the care and attitude of staff, they are a pleasure to deal with and it’s reassuring to know that my mom is in good hands.

The Customer Service Manager really went above and beyond to support me in moving my father from hospital to respite care.
Her friendly, supportive and professional manner are a real asset to The Hawthorns Aldridge.
Equally, since arriving on Sunday it has been lovely to see how supportive the rest of the staff are and how confident Dad and I feel about his stay there.

My wife was with you for six weeks this year and we were very pleased with how you cared for her.
She came out of hospital unable to transfer from her wheelchair onto her bed or toilet but with the aid of your hoist, you made her feel at home.
When I used to visit you treated me like family.

If she needed care again your company would be the first on our list to contact.

My mother stayed at Hawthorns Aldridge - Avery Healthcare for one week whilst repair work was being carried out at her house. As she is considered to be on palliative care I was able to stay and look after her myself which the home was very obliging with. The staff are very helpful and very friendly and they help any way they can. My mother is on a soft diet as she has trouble swallowing and this is where I was disappointed. It was quite repetitive and lacked imagination. An omelette is not consistent with a soft diet and there was no choice regarding the puddings. Despite that, I would choose Hawthorns Aldridge again as respite care

My Mother has just spent 2 weeks respite care at The Hawthornes, she was very reluctant to go but realised that it was needed -on picking her up today she said she would like to go back sometime she had a lovely time and made new friends. The care was outstanding even to a phone call I received on the first day I dropped her off telling me how Mom was now sitting with a group of residents having a good chin wag lol, knowing that I was anxious about leaving her, I would recommend The Hawthornes to anybody it is a lovely place and the care and service provided was excellent
Mom has dementia so couldn’t remember much of any activities that she joined in with but I had requested that she be encouraged to join in with as much as possible

We will definitely be using the respite service again and if or when the time comes would consider for residential care.

Judy Cutt
Judy CuttJob Title:Client Liaison ManagerJoined: 2026

Hello, my name is Judy, and I am the Client Liaison Manager at The Hawthorns Care Home.

I started working at The Hawthorns in June 2026. My favourite part of the role is meeting new residents and showcasing the lovely facilities that The Hawthorns Care Home has to offer. We are lucky to have a beautiful home in Aldridge. We have residents who have lived with us for years and some who come for respite.

My background is sales, but there is nothing like this role and the satisfaction of helping families in their journey to find care for their loved one. I have over 10 years of experience in the care sector and have a strong understanding of care in the community and of the journey of looking for a care home for a loved one.

I help to support residents and their families with compassion as their loved ones transition into our care. I will also work closely with the local community, leading engagement initiatives and events to build meaningful connections that enrich life within the home.

I believe in creating a supportive environment where every resident feels valued, every family feels reassured, and our community feels welcomed and involved.
