Mom has been receiving respite care at Hawthorns Aldridge Care Home for the last few weeks. From the moment we arrived the staff have been so kind and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Mom has a lovely, clean room with everything she needs. There are attractive gardens, communal areas and a dining room. Each week activities are organised and residents are encouraged to attend. Mom is being well cared for and that is very reassuring for her family.

On 4th July 2022, I will be a resident at Hawthorns for 5 years. My experience has been mixed. Becoming a care home meant that standards dropped considerably. Now I see improvements as they are being raised again, especially in the dining room. This is my home, where I am very happy and feel safe and secure. Care for me is available if and when I should need it. There have been many managers during my stay here and it is wonderful to have one who has stayed longer than others. Her door is open to all staff and residents. At our resident meetings, she keeps us up to date with audits, staff turnover, cost of food etc. I thank God for bringing me here.

I can't speak highly enough of Howathorns Aldridge. They helped us act quickly when my mum needed respite, and within days, my mum has the care she needed. With the kindness shown by the staff and superb facilities, Mum has settled really well. Medical care is wonderful, and we can relax knowing Mum is in good hands.

The management and all the staff and residents were very supportive, caring and yes even loving when my youngest son passed away early this year. We experience this sort of caring when needed, 24/7. Your personnel are to be congratulated, from start of the year to now.

My nan moved into the home on 13.6.22. The first week I was concerned about her personal hygiene. There seemed to be a breakdown of communication of my Nans needs. Although I spoke with management on 22.6.22 who said it will be dealt with and so it has been.

The staff are kind, understanding and always ready to help and they are approachable too with a sense of humour. Sometimes the food is appetising but at least it's always served hot. The chef listens to our requests. We can talk to the staff or team leaders about our complaints.

Comfortable room, lovely light and airy communal rooms for residents to move about with facilities for relaxing with books, jigsaws and art.

I wasn't in respite, I was there to keep my wife company after she came out of hospital. I was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff and also the standard and amount of the food.

Beautiful setting, clean, friendly professional staff. Safe and secure property, menu is a little random.

Fantastic care from the first time I took Mam for her initial assessment. Very welcoming on Moms arrival for her stay. Mom had one week of respite care whilst I was able to go on holiday with assurance she was in the best hands. Mom really enjoyed her stay, said she was fed tasty food. She also loved her room; it was like home from home.

The Hawthorns at Aldridge is more like a five-star hotel than a typical care home. We could not imagine anything better for my Dad. Lovely staff who provide great care and the food is excellent too. Above all, they kept my Dad and his friends safe throughout the lockdown.

My mother-in-law went into Hawthornes Aldridge in June 2020. After only a few months she settled in really well. Her room overlooking the gardens is perfect, spacious and has its own en-suite. Even though, due to Covid, entertainment has been limited she has been able to join in activity classes whenever possible. As her only carer before she went into Hawthornes it meant a lot to me that she was well looked after and safe and I can only say that the staff have more than full-filled my expectations.

This care home has the best provision of homely en-suite rooms of any that I have seen. The restaurant service is a godsend although it must be difficult catering for such a range of tastes across the residents. During Covid, the staff have done their utmost to keep residents safe and well and I have been able to relax knowing this. Visits have been made safely available as soon as possible. The hairdresser has also been able to visit recently. My mother values this very much. A range of activities are provided and my mother attends those she likes. Communal areas are arranged sociably and not ordered in a ring of chairs around the room as I’ve seen in many other places.

Mum has been a resident of the Hawthorns for over 5 years now and is still as happy as the day she moved in. She is well supported and well cared for as her needs have increased over the years. She enjoys the beautifully prepared meals and is very happy with her spacious and well-appointed room which she now calls home. The staff offer gentle encouragement and look after her with care and consideration preserving her dignity and promoting her well being. They continue to exceed our expectations and give us the reassurance we need when we cannot be with her. During lockdown, they offered many in-house activities, went above and beyond their normal duties to be her 'surrogate' family and ensured all the residents were content and happy. Their Covid protocols kept the home safe and alleviated our concerns. Now we are able to visit again the procedures in place are practical, efficient and safe. I would highly recommend The Hawthorns.

Moved in during Covid-19, staff were very supportive and went above and beyond to help him settle during a difficult time. Good communication has been upheld between ourselves and the home.

I have stayed here for four weeks and found the staff to be very helpful, always willing to help, whether it be in reception, activities or in the restaurant. My stay has been very pleasant, and I would stay here again if needed or for a short break.

Mom went into Hawthorns following deterioration with her dementia. The building is lovely and the initial few months were good. However, as time went on it was clear her personal hygiene was being overlooked. Mom was hanging soiled clothes back in her wardrobe and draws and toiletries were unused. Before lockdown our visits became one of recycling clothes and ensuring Mom was clean. Mom was allowed to put on over 2 stone during lockdown causing her BMI to become clinically obese. Her weight was monitored but at no point were any interventions put in place. It only came to light that they had been administering Moms medication incorrectly for a number of months when we moved her to a new home. Since Moms been receiving her correct medication in her new home she’s not required paramedics once and yet her last few weeks at Hawthorns they were frequent visitors to her. Lovey home for retirement with no medical issues.
