My husband was a resident of Woodstown from June 2021 until his death, aged 80, a month ago. He had a severe stroke in 2020 and was physically very dependent. I wanted to send a review particularly reflecting on the last few months of his life. He came to Woodstown after trying two other nursing homes.
We chose Woodstown because of its specialist facilities, gym and in-house physiotherapy, and staff expertise. This was a good move for him, the care was excellent, with personalised physiotherapy plans, updated regularly. The care staff created a family atmosphere as did the housekeeping team. Knowing that his condition could not improve, we had discussed end-of-life and asked that he should not go to hospital but continue to be nursed by the staff he knew, in familiar surroundings. Everything was done for his comfort. He had one-to-one activity time with music, relaxation, sensory lighting. The staff ensured that his death was as peaceful as one could wish for.
