The Social worker for my parents found them a place in Mabbs Hall. I am so happy that she did because my parents have settled in really well, they say the staff are extremely kind and caring and they feel totally safe and well looked after. The food is good and they are very content and calm. They both have dementia at varying stages and they are treated with kindness, respect and dignity. It is the best outcome possible for their care needs. The manager is wonderful, very approachable and a great communicator. She and her staff make a happy and efficient team. I've nothing negative today say about Mabbs Hall, my experience so far is 100% positive.

I am really impressed with Cavell Manor and I'm very grateful that they look after my mum so well. There is a very calm, caring and relaxed atmosphere which makes for an upbeat environment. The building and the rooms are bright, clean and welcoming. The residents have a café area in reception with tea and cakes and there is a family feel of mixing together residents, staff and visitors which means it doesn't feel institutionalised which some homes can. The food is good and there are lots of activities and facilities laid on but there's a good balance of freedom and independence but with the right amount of encouragement to join in. The staff are so patient and try very hard to accommodate the different personalities of the residents and it is reassuring to have medical help always available. Credit is due to the whole team at Cavell Manor because they have provided not only the physical care and comforts for their residents but also a sense of a happy community which is much rarer.

I thoroughly enjoy my visits

My wife has physical and cognitive disabilities. So this means an extra-heavy burden on care staff, however, the staff respond with patience and cheerfulness, so my wife's care needs are being well met.

My mother had a week here recently for respite after a hip operation at the local hospital. From the professional staff, who were also lovely, cheerful and helpful through to the cleanliness, comfort and modern style of the rooms and lounges etc.... the whole experience has been perfect. My mother and us, (her family) couldn't thank you enough.

My husband had been in Cavell Manor for almost 3 years. He was suffering from Parkinson's for 11 years. I cannot speak more highly of the care and devotion given by the staff who looked after him. He had suffered with leg ulcers on both his legs but the nurse managed to cure after 2 years. My husband passed today. We thank the home for their care.

Dad was at Mabbs Hall only a short while, but the management, nurses and staff were wonderful and very easy to speak to. Every question and worry was sorted out quickly. Would recommend this nursing home.

The care my father received in his last week was second to none. I felt there was a great deal of kindness from all staff. In his final days I was allowed to be with him and get the most time I could with him. On the day he died I was called back and got to hold his hand before he died.

My mother is as settled as could be expected for someone with severe dementia. The staff work very hard, are welcoming, polite and respectful and strive to make a homely environment. The fabric of the building is slowly being updated with air conditioning and new doors.

When my mother was initially admitted it was at the start of Covid I had no choice where she went. She was fully competent but deaf (2020 August) My initial reaction was despair (I wouldn't put a dog in there) I was not able to visit & could not communicate when we eventually visited, nothing changed that vibe. However, now new management & staff in place I have nothing but praise for team. Mum's health is declining but care is excellent. We can talk to any member of staff & they know what is going on. So much happier.

Mabbs Hall cared for our dad, Joe, who had severe dementia, and we cannot thank them enough for everything they did. From the management to the cleaners, every single member of staff showed incredible patience, kindness and understanding throughout his time there.

The atmosphere in the home is calm, supportive and compassionate and you can tell the team genuinely care about the residents. The nursing staff deserve a special mention for their professionalism and the dignity they showed Joe each day, even during the most challenging moments.

We also want to highlight the manager, who has clearly worked tirelessly to transform Mabbs Hall into the exceptional care home it is today. Her leadership and dedication are evident in the way the whole team carries themselves.

I have been a resident of Cavell Manor Care Home for three months and have been highly satisfied with my care throughout. The facilities, etc are generally excellent - as recorded in my ratings and the staff are committed, flexible to varied needs and totally empathetic to residents. The management is simply excellent.

Staff are very friendly, calling me by name. They are always willing to help and discuss my wife's progress. When she was admitted in October 2023 nobody thought she would survive until Christmas. They have done an excellent job, she is alive and progressing nicely.

The Cavell Manor team has helped take the stress and anxiety away from our family and most importantly away from our mum. Knowing she is safe and sound, knowing that the team understands dementia and its individual needs means so much. I am sure everyone worries about 'the right time' to move a loved one to a home - the team navigated us through this transition and continues to be caring and respectful with the utmost professionalism. The food is excellent and there is a homely feel (no call button noises, rooms are maintained with high attention to detail and everywhere is bright and airy). Each day feels different because of all the creative activities and services. We always feel welcome when we visit.

I visit my friend once a week. The staff are helpful, friendly, cheerful, and make every visit a pleasure. My friend is happy when I visit, and I feel content that she is being well cared for.

I have nothing but praise for the care my husband receives. It is such an upsetting situation for me and all the staff support and help me through this journey. Alzheimer's is such a cruel disease and the family suffer so much. I consider us very lucky to be in this care home.

Im just sad my Dad died in hospital and not in the care of the family community that makes Mabbs Hall

We as a family were very happy with the excellent level of care our father received at Mabbs Hall.

My sister-in-law is really well looked after here. She is included in the activities and functions when she wants to. The staff are always popping in to have a chat and check that she is comfortable and has everything that she needs. Nothing is too much trouble for them here.
