Care Homes Owned by Dorrington House in Norfolk

My lovely sweet carefree mum has been cared for at Dorrington House for a relatively short time (3 months). I cannot fault the care she has received and the communication that they provide is brilliant and never felt like anything is to much bother. The activities are brilliant and whilst sadly due to my mum's Alzheimer's she finds it tough to join in with them for long, they give her the opportunity and then fully recognise when she needs her own space. She literally tells the staff she loves them and she is always being kept well fed and hydrated, especially during the excessive summer. As a family it's hard to see the person you love change so much due to this illness, but all at Dorrington do everything they can to ensure she is safe, happy and content in her surroundings always. It is noticeable that many other residents are not as calm as my mum and I honestly have nothing but praise for how they manage the many differing personalities. High praise indeed.

My wife have been in the care home for about six months she have severe dementia which she is in bed all the time she is not an easy patient as she hits out at the carers went they go to touch her when getting her washed and changed but the carers are so patience and kind with her she is definitely in a right place I can't speak highly enough of the people looking after her

My mother has been a resident for some two months now, following two respite and recovery periods there in the past.

She has been to other Homes, and the standards of care at Dorrington House compare with the best of those.

We are very satisfied.

He is very settled there & is being looked after extremely well. The carers are wonderful & do everything to make life comfortable for the residents.

Recently dad has deteriorated healthwise and the staff have been unbelievable in their level of attention, support and constant phone calls and email updates to me. I can't thank them all enough

My father in law has dementia and has been on palliative care for a while after recurring chest infections of which we were informed at the outset and kept up to date with medications and progress. He has been a resident since November 2024 and despite being bedbound says he is happy and is treated well. We find the staff easy to talk to and feel that my father in law is in good hands

Home always short staffed at weekends, food mediocre at best, floor staff/carers are always friendly and try to be helpful, but most have English as a second language, always have to tidy Dad's room, laundry team are diligent and very helpful and friendly.

Mumsi is happy, clean, exremely well looked after and is making the most of her time at Dorrington as they really do have lovely and competent staff who do care! im so pleased for her and to add that she enjoys the activities when shes well enough xto do them and loves the food amd snacks!.....thank you Teamx

Massive tele in the main lounge where everyone gathers but has smaller rooms if u want some peace a quiet.

I have always found the staff at Dorrington House to be very efficient and caring and deal with any problems promptly. I raised concerns that Mum didn't seem herself at our last visit. They made sure that she saw a doctor and gave me regular updates.

The food is of good quality and there is always a choice at every meal.

I'm sure Mum is not always easy to deal with, but Geri, Lydia, Francesca, Mary and Hayley (who Mum really took to, before leaving) anf their team have been the main reason we'd like Mum to stay at Dorrington House.

I visited a resident with a friend. The resident had been very unwell when living at home. She told us that she is receiving excellent care, and particularly enjoys the food and the care she gets. She was a different person from the one I last saw in her own home - she was calm, clean and able to engage with us. She is not yet ready to join in with the activities which is why I can't comment on them. The home was secure and staff helpful and friendly. The care she is receiving has made a really positive difference to the resident. Thank you.

My father went into Dorrington during Covid then shortly after my mother joined him. We were very lucky that they were accommodated in opposite rooms. Unfortunately my mother passed but dad is still there. He is always happy, clean and tidy. The activities team are outstanding. Always something going on even at weekends. As a family we are happy with Dorrington for dad's care

My dad went in there last August and he has totally changed for the better. He gets involved with other residents, play games and enjoy the music sessions they have. It was the best thing that happened to him, and for my mum. Staff are wonderful ..can't fault a single thing.

I think the level of care is excellent as is the level of communication

Dorrington House (Watton) promptly follows up/refers on/up medical concerns relating to my relative and provides prompt feedback working hard to keep us, the family, in the loop. Staff and managers are very friendly and helpful.
