Review of Catherine House Care Home from Eileen G (Cousin of Resident) published on 27 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Catherine House Care Home staff always make you welcome when you arrive and are always willing to help if you have anything to bring to your relatives rooms. All the activities are fun & enjoyable. The first time I visited the home was on January 24th 2025, with my Daughter. My counsins husband was admitted to Catherine House in April 2024. My cousin became a resident at Catherine House on April 9th 2026. At first it was upsetting for me to come and visit as she would get upset and asking me to take her home, I explained to her that she is now sitting beside her husband of which she had missed for the last two years.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We know how emotional it can be when someone you love moves into a care home, and we're grateful you trusted us through that journey. It means so much to hear that you've always felt welcomed by our team and that your cousin and her husband have been able to be together again. Thank you for your kind words and continued support.

Review of Catherine House Care Home from Michael B (Father of Resident) published on 15 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My father has Alzheimer's and moving him into Catherine House was one of the hardest decisions our family has had to make. The care he receives has exceeded all our expectations. Every member of staff, the cleaners, caregivers, medical staff, catering staff and the management team, treat him with genuine kindness, compassion and respect. They have taken the time to understand not only his condition but also his background, personality, likes and dislikes, and they adapt their approach to suit his mood each day. There is an excellent range of activities and outings, with seasonal events and day trips that provide real mental stimulation and enjoyment. Since moving to Catherine House, both his physical and mental wellbeing have improved noticeably. It is clear that this is more than just a care home - it is a place where people are truly cared for, and we cannot thank the staff enough.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review. We know what a big decision it is to move a loved one into a care home, so it means a great deal to hear that your father has settled well. Your kind words about our team and the way they have taken the time to get to know him personally will mean so much to everyone. Thank you again for your support and trust.

My husband was transferred to Catherine House February 2024 and died peacefully in June 2025. He had vascular dementia, bed ridden for the duration, his choice not to partake in activities etc. The care he received was paramount from excellent nursing staff to admin to all involved in his superb care they were exceptional and great support to me.

Frome Nursing Home provided a very caring environment for my mother, who had dementia. They worked hard to understand my mother, to make her happy and give her dignity. She always looked very well turned out.

Review of Frome Nursing Home from F K (Friend of Resident) published on 25 March 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Very friendly environment. Staff are only too pleased to help. Residents are well cared for and happy. The residents are well cared for and encouraged to join in with activities if able. Visitors are free to come and go at any time they wish and stay as long as they want. I have always been offered drinks and always asked if I would like to stay for lunch, tea time, etc.

Reply from Sherin Anup, Home Manager at Frome Nursing Home

Thank you for taking the time to share this, it's reassuring to hear how welcomed you felt and how everyday life, from joining in to simply sitting down for a cup of tea, continues in a way that feels natural and unhurried.

Review of Frome Nursing Home from R G (Husband of Resident) published on 25 March 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
My review can only be based on my feelings and expectations, which may be unrealistic. I have no knowledge or experience with other care homes for comparison. It's a complex environment, so nothing will be perfect or excellent, in my view. My wife, who is immobile and suffering from dementia of some kind

, is, I believe, better off in care than she would be at home. She says the food is good. I have not been there at meal times. When I visit they do bring her drinks and snacks. They also offer the same to me. The carers are good to her and friendly and helpful to me. But my wife says no. She speaks to her. She is partially deaf and cannot, sometimes, understand the accents. But she so quickly forgets. Value for money? I don't know. All care homes are expensive, based on my own financial perception.

Reply from Sherin Anup, Home Manager at Frome Nursing Home

Thank you for sharing your experience so openly, it's helpful to hear your perspective, and it's good to know your wife is being supported and that the small details, like food, drinks and how you're both welcomed, are making a difference day to day.

Review of Catherine House Care Home from J V (Great-Nephew of Resident) published on 11 February 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
I honestly can't praise this home enough. The staff have been absolutely amazing in the way they look after my great uncle, every single person is kind, attentive, and genuinely cares. The level of person-centred care is outstanding, they really take the time to understand each resident as an individual, and nothing ever feels like too much trouble.
The home itself is always spotlessly clean and welcoming, and the food is amazing. The activities go well above expectations, with so much thought and effort put into keeping everyone engaged, stimulated, and happy.

Knowing my great uncle is being cared for in such a supportive, respectful, and nurturing environment gives our family complete peace of mind. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for exceptional care.

The staff are very friendly & helpful to both myself & my wife & that includes the management. The whole place is kept nice & clean as is my wife. Although my wife has only been in Catherine House for just over 1 month, it is obvious that from the way that other occupants in the rooms are treated with great care as well.

Review of Frome Nursing Home from Debbie C (Daughter of Resident) published on 19 November 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Dad was a resident for three years and passed away recently. He was grumpy and sarcastic but with a twinkle in his eye, and the staff really got him. He made them laugh. And they really cared for him. This is not a frilly care home, but it is clean, caring, friendly and fun. The staff always treat the residents as family. I've seen and heard them and marvelled at their patience, skills and kindness. They do all the things we don't want to, and they do it with understanding, dignity and kindness.
The staff put on various entertainments and fun activities to keep everyone interested. It was delightful to see the staff celebrating Holi in the carpark! I couldn't help joining in. All festivals are marked with themed decorations going up. Every resident has a birthday cake made for them. And I loved that all the cupcakes for afternoon tea were beautifully decorated every day. Little touches like that really show how much effort the staff go to.

Thank you for looking after Dad.

Mum was moved after a stressful few months to Catherine House. They made the move, communication and mum's transition smooth and friendly. Their communication over any issues or concerns is great; they never hesitate to resolve any issues we mention when we visit. Mum loves it here. They even include us in meals if we like.

Great home from home.

Good feeling when you walk in. Had excellent viewing on first visit with everything shown and explained. Pleased able to take my husband's personal things in before he arrived as helped him to settle. All the staff friendly and very helpful, nothing too much trouble. My sister been here 2 years and in the two years a lot has been achieved with her. The staff attempted well with her conditions such as Down syndrome. We all had a learning experience with myself with dementia and staff with my sister having Down syndrome and I'm happy to say the right choice was made for my sister to come here because even know mistakes have happened both sides they have been felt with quickly and has put my sister best interest first. She has come from knocking on deaths doors and is now a happy bubbly person as she always was, and that's thanks to the staff. Determination to make sure she was well monitored and looked after.

My dad was very well cared for at the nursing home. The staff were very kind, helpful, thoughtful and very loving towards my dad. He was a bit of a character, was cheeky, mischievous and had a lot of fun with the staff. Review of Catherine House Care Home from Margot C (Wife of Resident) published on 12 June 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My husband lived at Catherine House for 5 years 6 months before his death three weeks ago.
He enjoyed living there and was well cared for by kind and cheerful staff.
For the last 2 months of his life, he suffered from cancer and it is about this time I want to submit a review.
I am so grateful to the manager and her staff that those months were spent with them. He was not just cared for but cared about and so was I.
The family atmosphere in the home helped us through a very difficult time. The skill and professionalism of the manager are only matched by her compassion.
His physical needs were met in a truly caring manner and he was treated with respect and a genuine desire to do the very best for him.

I will always be grateful for the end-of-life care he received at Catherine House and for those who gave it.
