Although my dad was only in the home for 48 hours, we were so impressed by the care and compassion shown by everyone, especially the staff in the Discovery Unit. They were incredibly kind, caring and supportive during a very difficult time for our family.

Out of all the care homes we viewed, this one stood out by far as the best. The home is clean, warm and truly homely, with such a lovely atmosphere throughout. We especially loved hearing the music playing, which made it feel cheerful and comforting.

Thank you to all the staff for treating my dad with such dignity and kindness. We will always be grateful.

My Mum spent the last 3 years of her life in The Garden House, she died in January 26. The care from all the nurses, care staff, activity staff, chaplains, catering, cleaning, absolutely everyone was amazing. We could not have wished for a better last three years for Mum, everyone there is so dedicated and caring. They were all so supportive for us as well during the last few weeks of her life. A big thank you to you all for making Mum's last few years so fulfilled, forever grateful. I would recommend The Garden House 100%

In October 2016, after my husband's dementia became worse we moved and enjoyed the flat and the services. Then my husband died end '24. I continued living in for health on my own until mid November 2025. I was taken to hospital with back pain and vertigo which made walking unaided impossible. I came to John Wills House mid December '25 to stay. Reception here was very friendly. I received a walking frame that enabled me to walk and a pleasant room to cheer up with my own bits and pieces, which my son and friends helped me with. Even my own chair could be brought over plus various articles and clothes from my flat.

My father spent his last 7 weeks at Garden House. We met many very caring members of staff, and he developed a soft spot for several. It was great to be able to visit at anytime and had he had more energy he would have enjoyed the activities arranged by the events manager, who listened to all residents' requests/suggestions and ran a full programme. It was a peaceful and kind place to be, and staff were very sensitive to his needs and dignity. We are so grateful for his time there.

The Orchards in John Wills House has a lovely homely atmosphere. The staff are very motivated and leadership is excellent. Staff are very caring and have a very "can do" attitude, led by the staff lead. Meal times are relaxed and friendly, and staff join residents for meals. Organised activities are well received by residents and are stimulating and fun. More of these activities would be welcomed. Minibus outings have been very enjoyable and memorable. A first class dementia unit with first class staff.

The care that my mother has received in Charterhouse has been excellent. During a period of time when her needs have changed the staff have been attentive, diligent and professional. We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Jodie, Jodel, Joanne, Keeley, Georgie and all the fantastic staff at Orchards, John Wills House who gave our father the best possible care throughout his time with them. Their professionalism was exceptional. This was particularly valuable during those first few weeks when Dad was settling in They made such an effort to get to know him and it was clear he felt appreciated and welcomed by everyone..

Their commitment to Dad's welfare in the later weeks of his life meant he was able to stay in his own room where he was comfortable and we are very grateful to Orchards for making sure Dad was cared for at this difficult time with such kindness and dignity.

Outstanding care for palliative respite. Care staff and nurses went above and beyond for both my auntie and all of us as her family. Could not have asked for anything more. Only downfall was the early hours of the morning when auntie passed away, her daughter didn't feel very supported (different staff to who had been in all week). Other than that, absolutely outstanding care.

Review of The Russets from Margret P (Wife of Resident) published on 19 December 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
It was a difficult decision to place my husband into care but his management had become very difficult. Immediately he went into the Russet's care, in particular Encore, he was so well looked after, which put my mind to rest. He could not have been in a better place. The freedom within The Russets allowed him to wander within the grounds as space was an important element in his well being. The Encore team as a whole and I mean everyone, were exceptional in gauging and managing him in the most empathetic way, understanding his individual needs and moods.
We as a family considered that he was in the best possible place so we have a very high regard for the quality and commitment of the staff of Encore. The openness and freedom to visit as and when we wished , ensured

our confidence in the quality of care and support he and we were given by Encore.

Review of The Russets from Simon I (Son of Resident) published on 10 December 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Our experience of The Russets at Sandford Station and Bramley in particular has been exceptional. My father got the best of care by people who took the time to get to know and spend time with him, even during those times when he was something of a challenge. From my point of view I have always felt included in his care and have been well informed. It has made a tremendous difference to me, living so far away, to know he was being so well looked after. I cannot express my appreciation of what the staff have done to help me with all the things that are over and above their role at Bramley.

Review of The Russets from G A (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 10 December 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My father in law moved to Crispin House this year when it was clear he couldn't live by himself anymore. I had limited experience of care homes so didn't know what to expect. When I first visited him, the unit was bright and busy, there was music playing and it was very clean and tidy. We spent time in the quieter lounge and he told us how nice it was and how good the staff were.

In the subsequent months, I've come to realise what a special place the Russets is. It always feels clean and homely. The staff are cheerful and attentive to the needs of those living there. The House Lead always comes over to say hello if she's there when we visit and she's always in touch with any updates.

My father in law is aware of his failing memory now and, during a recent visit, he said "I don't really have a clue what's going on anymore, but I do know that I feel very safe here". We can't ask for more than that.

From the very off I felt a good vibe about John Wills house. This was exacerbated by the presence and care provided by agency nurse on duty this afternoon (7/11/25) Sue (hope that's correct) She was caring, upbeat and positive. Sue made my wife and I a cup of coffee with a smile, said some very comforting things during a very difficult time (my dad is receiving end of life care) Sue is a credit to palliative care nursing. Helen and Julie at the reception desk were also very warm and welcoming. Thank you.

SEVERN (S) Would like to review positively but can't. Some care assistants & nurses did their best others the bare minimum. HUMAN WARMTH would have been better than a large room rarely cleaned well. Food unappetising & often cold (teeth often not put in) The most basic of 'care' with little to no mental stimulation (often just left in bed with loud TV but no hearing aids put in) no personal touch, very little interest, not checked on regularly. Few activities & not enough staff to enable joining in with those run at CQ over the road (which this home brochure sets great store by & fails to deliver) Just 2 small balconies overlooking concrete jungles/building sites; reliant on staff to get there.

A lonely, clinical place Overruled by family re placing my poor mother here which will sadden me always; She died lonely & unhappy. Needs unannounced inspection.
