Review of Stoneleigh House from A G (Sister of Resident) published on 26 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My sister is non verbal and at first I didn't want her to go into a care home, this was until I came to Stoneleigh house and seen for myself how the other residents were excelling. I spoke with residents on my visit and they shared how happy they are with living at Stoneleigh and how well they are treated. The CQC Rating does not reflect how great this home is, I feel that this should be looked into as the home and its team deserve top marks. When my sister stayed in hospital staff stayed with her for the whole duration of her stay. Management are fantastic, they go above and beyond to ensure the residents needs are met and family are kept well informed. The management devised a bespoke care plan and risk assessments for my sisters needs that is fantastic.I can't praise this home enough the staff and management are fantastic, the home is clean and smells fresh.Residents are given choices and are always excited to tell us of there outings and where they are going to next.

Review of Stoneleigh House from Pauline B (Mother of Resident) published on 13 February 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Our Son (61 yrs) Has been a resident at Stoneleigh since November 2024, before that a day care user for about 10 years. He has Autism, Learning Disabilities, Cancer and has had an operation that has left him with a Stoma Bag that he doesn't cope with, he can also be very challenging.
I cannot fault the care he gets from the Staff at Stoneleigh, staff are always on hand to help him and to clean him up when he has had an accident with his bag, (which is quite frequently). He has his own en-suite room in the bungalow, where there is a lounge/dining room and freedom of the whole complex.
As he is semi-independent and has his own mobility scooter which he uses most days and the staff have gone the extra mile on the occasions he has flattened his battery to go and push him back to the Home.
The food is good, plentiful and well balanced, and the staff provide him with numerous cups of tea anytime he asks day or night.

The Home is perfect for our son.

Review of Avondale from Paul C (Son of Resident) published on 29 November 2017 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Avondale took care of my mother for 6 months. She had late stage dementia. I cannot praise and thank the staff enough, very kind, patient and considerate in every manner possible. Avondale may not have the ‘best carpet and curtains’ but the care they took of my mother was truly uplifting for myself and my elderly father. It’s the people that count and you will not find better.

Review of Stoneleigh House from Martin L (Stepfather of Resident) published on 30 May 2016 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

This is the second time we have used this facility for emergency respite. We would consider it again but only in an emergency. My issues are 1:- safety, residents are expected to cross a busy main road between facilities when required. (supervised). 2:- Cleanliness. Our child cannot clean himself. On this latest visit the school taxi operators complained to the care home staff that the child was dirty only to be told "no-one told us he can't clean himself". There are other instances of non communication between staff too. I'm not pleased with this home.

Review of Avondale from Patricia T (Daughter of Resident) published on 19 April 2016 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother has been living in Avondale residential home from April 2014 to present day.
Myself and my sister visited several homes before finding Avondale. The first impression we had was a very homely atmosphere and friendly staff.
Whilst mom has been there she had a number of illnesses which the staff were quick to respond to and appropriate action was taken.
Her safety has always been paramount to the staff and management and equipment for her needs were quickly supplied.
The staff and management have always been friendly and welcoming.
They have listened to any concerns we have had about moms health and been supportive to the whole family.

We couldn't have wished for better environment for mom to spend the rest of her years in.

Review of Eldon House Care Services from Karen S (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 3 March 2016 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

The care my Grandmother and Grandfather received in Eldon House was exemplary. All of the staff treated them with respect and genuine affection - just as if they were a member of their own family. It is easy to see certain aspects of good practice, such as the efficient management and high levels of hygiene, which are achieved without intrusion or disturbance. Trips which are of interest to the residents are provided and enjoyed - Granddad had lots to say about them! The way members of staff visited on their day off out of concern and care, or took the initiative to purchase some small things which would bring comfort and ease to their condition are examples of the emotional support they give. This emotional support was sensitively extended to the wider family during some difficult times.

Review of Eldon House Care Services from Colin M (Friend of Resident) published on 6 November 2015 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My sister in law lives abroad so my wife and I look after the needs of her mother in law. She moved into the home 9 months ago, and we know that she couldn't be in better care. Due to work and other commitments we only manage to visit once a week, when we do we are always made to feel welcome and offered a drink at the same time as residents. She has resided in other care homes where she has not been too happy with the care or a member of staff. At Eldon house she has her own room, she is stimulated and encouraged to join in events rather than just being left in a chair. The staff have always been helpful in meeting her needs and those of her family.
