My dad has been a resident at St Joseph's (Ruby Wing) since November 2024. From day one, the staff have gone above and beyond ensuring he receives the best possible care, even when he is unwilling to co-operate. I have witnessed first hand how caring and compassionate the staff are towards all residents
in their care, nothing is too much trouble, this gives me peace of mind knowing he is so well looked after.
Both management and staff are extremely friendly, approachable and will always make time for a resident or their relatives.
Reply from Shelley Perryman, Registered Manager at St Joseph's Residential Care HomeThank you for your kind words and review, it is a pleasure caring for dad and knowing he is settled in his environment.

Wow, the staff look after all of their patients with the utmost care. And also the family members who visit. Definitely a family atmosphere.
We are more than happy for the care and consideration given to my mother-in-law.
Thank you from all of our family. xx

Having worked as a supplier of medical equipment, I was aware of the good, the bad and, the ugly that was out there when visiting Care Homes. Its always really difficult when the time comes to make the right choice for your loved ones, and when Dementia is involved its even harder.
In December 2023
My mom joined the gang on Topaz wing at St Josephs Care Home in Coleshill. There were challenges at first but the staff handled them with care and compassion and you could be forgiven sometimes for thinking " was it an act or did they really care that much for their Residents?"
It was no act, they really do care and the staff treated mom like she was their own Mother. I would have no hesitation in recommending St Jo's to anyone looking for a safe and compassionate environment for their loved ones.

Very short notice to take Mum to respite care. Very smooth process. All the staff made Mum very settled & welcome. She's been looked after so well - I would have no hesitation in recommending St Joseph's to anyone. Very impressed.

Just like to say over all the care is really good from what I have seen. I like the fact residents have days out and people come in to visit residents example bringing animals and reptiles in. Having BBQ events etc. However I would like the staff to maybe try a little bit more to involve certain residents
in activities. I appreciate they are busy at times but this should be implemented more often. The staff are really pleasant and ready to answer any questions I may have. Also maybe a bit more attention to things in rooms example checking toilet roll and cleaning.
Reply from Shelley Perryman, Registered Manager at St Joseph's Residential Care HomeThank you for your review and kind words, we always try our best to encourage residents to participate in activities however this can at times be difficult depending upon the resident's wishes. We have dedicated domestic staff member on each wing and all rooms are checked daily and cleaned, however your concerns will be discussed.

I struggled with the thought of moving him into a care home. My role as a community nurse is to try to keep patients within their own home, Unfortunately there are times when this is not the right thing to do and is not safe, this was the case for my father.
It took me a long time to feel comfortable
with the choice I had made for my father.
I see my dad every other day, although I can see he struggled with accepting help from others after living on his own for 20 years. I now see him so well cared for where staff try to encourage him to chat and socialise. I know I have very high standards of care within my role as a nurse, so I can say with total confidence that St Joseph's is a exceptional care home with such dedicated staff who always look as if they enjoy their role and proud of what they do. I cannot thank each and everyone of the staff for everything they do, that also includes listening to me and helping me come to terms with my father being in care

Mum receives personalised care from a team of carers who show her respect and dignity. Due to dementia, Mum can be very challenging and she needs carers who are skilled in how they approach her and manage those behaviours. They always show kindness and good humour to my mum and other residents. As I
visit most days at different times I can be confident in saying the care is consistently good at all times. The care leads and manager is always willing to discuss any issues or look at different ways to manage Mum's care to overcome the symptoms/complications of severe dementia. I would recommend the home to families searching for a home for their relatives.

My mother-in-law was moved from the hospital to another care setting for assessment. During her time there we saw very little improvement so we moved her to St Joseph's. It's early days but she already seems more settled. They have treated her water retention and sores, had a memory test done and treated
her low moods. All in a week when neither the hospital or the previous home had in over 8 weeks.

St Joseph's provides a first-class service along with a level of care for their residents, that is second to none.
The rooms and communal areas are cleaned to an excellent standard and the catering team provides a varied and healthy diet to meet all the dietary needs of the residents.

Our mother was welcomed into St Josephs on 1/2/24 - she was very distressed - the management and staff were truly wonderful, making her welcome and reassuring her. Offering genuine and caring support to us her family at a very distressing time. What a fantastic team of carers you are. We thank you so
much - we left knowing she was in excellent care - and as we left we could see she was already starting to respond positively to the kindness of the Jade wing staff.

The home provides exceptional care for its residents. They not only supported the individual but their family too. Our experience has been traumatic, but the home and, in particular, the carers have steered us and advised us well with compassion and great thoughtfulness. This care home is a home that
cares!

St Joseph's Residential Care Home appears to be a really warm, welcoming place. My aunty seems to be as happy as she can be there. The staff are always friendly. It is difficult, I appreciate, to motivate the residents, but every time we visit, my aunty is usually in bed, and I have not known her to
be involved in any activities. The Christmas meal activity was very nice though. Your staff need to answer the phone more.
Reply from Shelley Perryman, Registered Manager at St Joseph's Residential Care HomeThank you for your kind words and feedback; it has been noted with regards to answering the phones more promptly; however, this can be difficult at certain times due to time with residents.

St Joseph's is a happy and caring environment. We are confident that Mum is safe and well looked after. The staff try to support mum's needs in a way that suits her and often have to cope with her getting cross when she is unwilling to accept help or direction. They do this with a smile on their faces
and don't take it personally! Family always feel welcome when we visit and any concerns we raise are listened to and acted on, communication via telephone/email is good when necessary to inform us of urgent or non-urgent actions needed.

The care my mother received his excellent. She is supported constantly with all physical needs and careful attention is paid to health and medical welfare. She is treated with affection and humour, which she loves. The facility is always extremely clean and pleasant, and activities are offered regularly.
My mother sometimes, being deaf, finds it difficult to understand one or two of the staff and I would ask that they speak more slowly. It is not a question of a foreign accent, only the speed of speech for someone with dementia and hearing problems.

Mum went into St Joseph’s for a respite admission, which has now been extended. She looks happy and well cared for. Yesterday, she had been to the hairdressers and had her nails painted, looking very well when I visited. The staff are kind, friendly and the manager has been so helpful and very responsive
to all our questions and concerns. St Joseph’s is spotlessly clean. It’s reassuring knowing Mum is safe and looked after.

My mom is on Jade wing, one of the four wings provided at St Joseph's. Personally I think providing four wings makes for a more close and personal environment which benefits each resident. The carers on Jade are all absolutely dedicated to looking after each person, including my mom. Over the time Mom
has been on Jade I’ve got to know the 'girls' as I call them very well, they make the unit such a happy and loving place to live.
I’ve seen such love and kindness shown to all the ladies by each carer. Entertainment is provided for all the residents and I think this is such an important part of everyone’s well being; summer parties, bonfire night and Christmas lunches are always fun and the food provided by the chef is second to none. So well done to you all, keep up the fantastic work you do.
Reply from Shelley Perryman, Registered Manager at St Joseph's Residential Care HomeThank you for your kind words and review. St Joseph's is unique in the fact we have 4 wings that are like 4 individual care homes, this allows personal-centred care and creates a happy, living environment.
