Review of Lady Forester Nursing Home from M R (Son of Resident) published on 11 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mum has been a resident at Lady Forester for a week now, and we have been very pleased with the care she has received so far. She has her own room, which is large, spacious, and well able to accommodate all of her needs comfortably.
The home itself is always clean and tidy, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment. There is also a lovely outdoor space, which is a great addition for residents and visiting family members to enjoy.
Following a recent hospital stay, the home has already arranged referrals to both a physiotherapist and an occupational therapist to help her regain her mobility and independence, which has been very reassuring for our family.

The staff have all been kind, caring, and extremely helpful at all times. Nothing seems too much trouble, and it is comforting to know that my mum is being looked after so well. Thank you to everyone at Lady Forester for making her feel welcome and supported.

Overall Experience

My sister and I instantly fell in love with Bowbrook House and knew it was the perfect place for our elderly Mother, who suffers from dementia. As soon as the door opened, we were greeted with the most friendly staff and an overwhelming feeling of warmth and hominess. Mother has been with Bowbrook House now for 2 years, and the excellent care she receives never fails; every possible need is taken care of in a warm and caring manner. The staff and management cannot do enough. The personal care mum receives with regard to her dignity, nourishment, activity, feeling of security, warmth, the list is endless, and is second to none. Mother stays at Bowbrook 3 times a week and occasionally for longer respite care. She thoroughly enjoys her time there, coming home chuckling, saying what a lovely time she's had and how kind they are. The continuity of staff is commendable. Mother loves to see all the familiar faces. We feel so blessed to have found Bowbrook for our mother. Thank you all at Bowbrook House.

My mother has been a resident since September 202 and prior to this a day resident.

The care and kindness she has received has been excellent in every way. She has a lot of stimulation and is always treated with great respect. Her health needs are attended to quickly and the home contact the GP promptly and inform the family with the outcome. I am very happy that my mother is so contented and cared for.

We have dealt with The Lady Forester twice - first a few years ago during covid when our terminally ill father came out of hospital. The care he received and how that difficult time was managed by The Lady Forester we will be forever grateful for. And now our mother is a resident - initially in the nursing wing, where the care she has received over 6 weeks following a spell in hospital has got her able to be mobile and independent again and move into an independent living flat. Both those sides of the care home are exceptionally managed and we are very happy with the whole environment - the caring staff, the facilities, the quality (and quantity) of the meals, and the flexibility to tailor the care package around the individual.

First-class care, enabling my mother-in-law to recover from a hospital stay and move into assisted living accommodation on-site.
All staff are friendly, caring and helpful.

The meals are exceptionally good value, tasty and nutritious and very much a highlight of the day!

Mum has moved from Lady Foresters to a new luxury care home (she wanted to visit shops).
The new nursing home may look luxurious but the nursing care and the individual attention are nowhere near the standard at Lady Forester. I cannot fault the care from the nurses at Lady Forester. They were experts in their field and I had complete confidence that Mum was looked after well and any changes in her condition were recognised and treated (this is no longer the case).
In terms of individual attention, Lady Forester allows residents to have their own furniture. In Mum's case she was also given a bowl of chopped fresh fruit each day, which she ate throughout the day (this is proving very difficult to organise at her new home!).

The majority of care staff treated Mum very well (there was just one isolated incident, to my knowledge, when a member of staff was grumpy with Mum, and this is why I gave a 4 rating rather than 5 for care/support, treated with dignity and staff.

Overall Experience

I have visited a friend in Lady Forester Nursing Home twice in the past month. He appeared to be happily settled and speaks highly of the staff and food. On my first visit, all the residents appeared to be confined to their beds when I thought in the early afternoon residents should have been dressed and sat in armchairs. I was pleased to note on my second visit at the same time of day that this was the case. My only concern was that on several occasions call bells were rung but left unanswered for five minutes or more. I cannot comment on activities, safety or value for money.

I could not fault the care and support my Dad received from everyone at Bowbrook House. The home is welcoming and has a friendly family atmosphere. The care is person-centred with the care team reviewing Dad regularly to ensure they met his changing needs. All the team from carers to the owner were brilliant in Dad's final days supporting us as well as ensuring Dad was comfortable paying attention to every detail.

The kindness and professionalism of the staff in Lady Forester is absolutely second to none. The atmosphere is loving and very homely. My mother's care was absolutely first-class. And I have to say that my late husband passed away here in 2018 and he could not have had better, loving treatment.

Review of Lady Forester Nursing Home from K B (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 March 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My father moved into Lady Forester Nursing Home retirement apartments when he was 86 years old and was very happy there for five years. Over that time, he increasingly purchased more care from them which worked really well, meeting his daily needs. Last year he was unwell and hospitalised, returning to Lady Forester Nursing Home in an extremely poorly state having spent three weeks in hospital... not eating, not drinking and unable to walk. His recovery has been miraculous and I can’t speak highly enough of the care provided. The staff go above and beyond to ensure residents are taken care of with a level of attentiveness that truly sets them apart. The food is great which is so important and makes lunchtime a delight. What truly stands out though is the care, friendliness and compassion exhibited by every member of staff, nothing is too much trouble. My father was adamant he didn’t want to go into a nursing home but he loves it, great peace of mind for his family. Thank you all.

My family has found the services at Lady Forester faultless. As my father's health has changed, the team has responded quickly to adapt to fast-changing needs; they demonstrate that their care and commitment to my father's individual needs are paramount. My father's dignity is observed by all the staff we see around him and he clearly trusts and respects them too. The public areas are clean and bright and, in combination with the kindness of the staff towards us all as a family, it is a welcoming and positive environment.

Overall Experience

I visited my friend nearly every day for the 2 months or so that she was resident in Lady Forester for nursing care following a fall. The staff on the whole especially the Philippino staff were caring. There were however a couple of incidents of disrespect by English staff shown that we both felt were unacceptable. Equipment needs assessing. TV remote missing, radiator broken, bed kept breaking. Food not on the whole suitable for ageing people. No or very little stimulating activities or conversation with residents. On the whole for the cost, very, very disappointing.

After a fall and I landed here from the hospital everyone has been very helpful and cheerful, everyone does everything to make everything easier for me, I’m comfortable and warm I’m happy, I’ve come not being able to walk and now I can do this without help. Not having to press my bell anymore. The care has been fantastic and the food is delicious. I’ve learned to love milkshakes as I have gone off tea and coffee.

Review of Lady Forester Nursing Home from C B (Wife of Resident) published on 16 June 2023 Submitted via Website

My husband returned happily to the Lady Forester Nursing Home having had respite in February. His dementia is such that he has a very short attention span and wanders around day and most nights too! He is very happy and settled. I know that often the thorny issue of “activities” comes up regularly with regulators and the general public. The staff understand him and his “activity” is to be allowed to wander safely around, seeing smiling friendly staff all day (and night), he isn’t capable of participating in detailed activities but is supported to observe or participate on his terms.

The night staff are so tolerant and allow him to “help” them by wheeling the trolley around when up, giving him a sense of purpose. Activities are not all about playing bingo or crafts, activities should be about giving a resident a sense of purpose, a sense of being a valued member of a community. His advanced dementia means I can no longer care for him but the lovely staff do this with a sense of humour and kindness.

My mother has been in Lady Forester Nursing Home for over three years now. This period has covered the Covid pandemic with all the challenges that presented for the home and family. Throughout, the care offered has been exemplary. We have been informed of mum’s welfare and communication is very effective. Arrangements to visit were adapted to ensure families could see their loved ones.

Mum is comfortable and well looked after. She is a strong character and has clear views about her care. Staff are available to discuss any issues we have. Sensitivity is shown to any needs or wishes. This has ensured that Mum has been able to develop warm relationships with chosen staff members. An essential part of feeling “at home”.

Professional, understanding, kind, calm and caring is my experience of staff at The Lady Forester Community Nursing Home. Having reached a crisis point with my Mother who has dementia, arrangements were made within days for her to move into the home. Following a thorough assessment, Mum's every need was met, communication and attention to detail was clearly paramount to fulfill her care. Activities were encouraged with Mum taking up knitting after fifty years, this brought a tear to my eye seeing the Mum I remember doing what she once loved. The highest standard of cleanliness was obvious, immaculate in every sense but lived in. The daily menu was varied, nutritious and delicious- nothing was too much trouble. Knowing that Mum was safe, cared for and happy within Lady Forester Community Nursing Home is everything I could ask for; it is outstanding.
