Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
In early February 2025, I was advised by Social Services & the NHS that my father needed 24x7 nursing care. That came as an absolute shock, over the following weeks I was racked with guilt and felt extremely saddened that my father now required that level of support. Approx. 8 weeks ago, my father became
a resident at Holme House, and from the first minute he arrived the experience for him has been brilliant, he is really happy to be living there. His contentment, and the service we receive as a family, has allayed all my guilt, sadness, and other concerns.
The facilities at Holme House are excellent, clean, aesthetically pleasing and practical. The team at Holme House are absolutely amazing, from the senior management right through to the care staff. I am in awe at the culture, the care, and love they show in everything they do. The way they engage with the residents, always with smiles, is absolutely out of this world.
Outstanding, surpassing all expectations. Highly recommended.

My mum spent the last 2 and a quarter years at Holme House. I cannot speak highly enough of the management and staff at this nursing home. My mum was highly demanding - complaining if any wish was not complied with immediately! And could be abusive. But Holme House coped; did more than coped. And at
the end, when my mum was hospitalized, the manager and assistant manager made 2 trips to the hospital on their own time - one to take my mum's mobile so that I could speak to her - and once on a Saturday to see how she was progressing (the day she passed away). Definitely 'above and beyond the call of duty'. I'll keep in touch with them - I regard them as friends.

Holme House is excellent, the staff are all very friendly and welcoming.
They take excellent care of my dad, I know he is well looked after.
The senior staff are also excellent.

My family and I plus our dog have visited daily since 22 December. We have been treated with the utmost kindness by everyone, this has helped us deal with a very difficult and distressing time. We have felt that we still had control which doesn’t always happen when a relative is cared for elsewhere.

My grandad was in Croftlands.
It is a great care home, which I would recommend to other families for a dementia unit.
The food is great, and they even made a cake for his birthday.
The staff are all lovely and very helpful.
Up until his last days, the staff were very attentive, and as a family we
are very grateful to Croftlands.

Croftlands

from Mike N (Friend of Resident) published on 11 April 2024

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My elderly next-door neighbour and friend of many years had become increasingly isolated and frail as a result of his health issues in recent years and became too ill to be able to cope living alone at home.
He had spent some time at Croftlands a couple of years previously whilst recuperating following
a stroke. His care then (including during the covid period ) had been excellent so he was insistent that he would like to become a permanent resident at Croftlands when he accepted that he needed care on an ongoing basis. He has now been back at Croftlands for several months. His general health has improved greatly during this time and he has a very pleasant room with his own things and television in there and he is extremely happy and settled and well cared for by all of the staff. He particularly enjoys his food and is always very complimentary about the choice and quality of food that he receives. He tells me that he is very content to be spending the rest of his days at Croftlands.

I went, with my husband, to visit my brother today. The staff were very caring and gentle with the residents. They took time to talk to them and to ask them what they wanted.
The home was spotless and despite many patients being incontinent did not smell at all. My brother was happy and cheerful,
he was dressed nicely and his hair was clean and combed.
Whilst there I went into his room which, like the lounge, smelt clean and fresh.
His wet room and toilet was well scrubbed and was obviously used regularly. I was impressed!
I couldn't ask for more.
He does not eat his dinner or his tea but loves breakfast. So to keep his weight stable he has a breakfast in the morning and a breakfast in the evening. An excellent solution.
I would recommend Croftlands to anyone who has to put their loved one into a home.

My stepdad has been placed here from hospital and we couldn’t be happier. He has only been here since Saturday and I have seen such an improvement. Mum moved to Croftlands after weeks in hospital (her previous residential home told us they could no longer meet her needs). Mum's dementia made her frightened and vulnerable - a situation that quickly escalated in hospital. We were concerned whether Mum would settle into Croftlands - the 4th change
in less than 12 months. Our fears were unfounded almost immediately. Mum settled in quickly and thrived. From initially spending most of her time in her room (a legacy from hospital her previous residential placement), she responded well to encouragement to join other residents in the communal areas. We visit a number of times per week, and always find her sitting in these areas, and see her joining in with activities. The staff are kind, compassionate and patient to all residents equally. They have put a smile back on Mum's face - a joy to see. It is hard to experience a loved one with dementia, but we love visiting Croftlands. An amazing place full of wonderful staff.

My mum recently had a fall and broke her hip. She spent 4 weeks in a different care home before she was moved to Croftlands. Within that 4 weeks she stopped eating, was very distressed, was falling out of her bed on a daily basis due to no bed guards being used, was dehydrated as she couldn't reach
any fluids and her personal hygiene needs were not being met. This was very upsetting for the family so we agreed that she needed to be moved. Croftlands offered us the reassurance that they would look after our mum with dignity and respect and 3 weeks in we are so pleased with the change in our mum. She's no longer distressed, she's eating and drinking again, she now has bed guards so is no longer falling on the floor and she looks happy and comfortable. Although it is early days and there has been a few teething problems. Once discussed with the staff any issues are quickly addressed and resolved. The whole team are welcoming and kind and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home.

My uncle has been at Holme House for 12 months, he settled in really well, and not long after my auntie followed and they're both really happy. The staff are all friendly and can't do enough for the residents. The activities provided are fantastic and the activities staff go above and beyond for the
residents. I myself haven't been there at mealtimes but my uncle says the meals are faultless. The manager is fantastic, very helpful, approachable, welcoming and friendly. Me and my family are happy that both Auntie and Uncle are really happy being there. Thank you to all.

My sister has been a resident of this care home for approximately 18 months. I bless the day she was admitted there. I live quite a distance away, but I am confident she is being well cared for, and this gives me peace of mind. The wonderful caring team, all patients and residents are looked after.
All are clean, and the food is good.
Weekly activities, music and television are available for residents to participate in. My sister has a lovely, decorated, bright room surrounded by her personal belongings.
Thank you all so very much.
