Amazing carers, good food, a good range of activities and pleasant environment. Residents are very happy.
Carers are very helpful and efficient if I need to contact my mother and likewise if they need to contact me regarding any concerns.

Staff know the residents well, and are able to recognise and cater for the individual needs of each one. They are encouraging and supportive and help each resident in a firm but friendly manner. My mum is well looked after and I take great comfort in knowing that she is safe there. Staff keep me up
to date on how little my mum has been eating and drinking, and between us we come up with ideas to encourage her. Thank goodness for the bacon butties she enjoys every morning, which set her up for the day. I feel very much involved in my mum's life at Gwern Alyn, and am always made to feel welcome by the staff.
Activities such as art and zumba take place as well as sessions from singers, musicians and visits from local school children - all so important for the residents.
My mum really loves having her hair done every 2 weeks.
A relaxed and happy atmosphere exudes from Gwern Alyn, mainly thanks to the staff ( and the lovely decor in the 2 lounges)

My father has been at Hillbury for almost three weeks now. From the initial visit we were thrilled with both the home and the staff . In the short time he has been there the staff have welcomed him, settled him into his new routine and gone out of their way to make him feel part of the family there.
The management and staff, who are all caring, understanding and thoughtful, know the patients well and have an excellent rapport with them. Nothing is ever too much trouble and relatives are always welcomed. The change in my father in this time has been dramatic and we are now seeing him joining in with the many activities on offer, eating, drinking and smiling. He really is back to being himself and we weren't sure that would ever really happen. The home itself is clean, well maintained and welcoming. The bedroom my father has is, in his words, "smashing." The food is excellent with different diets being catered for well. This was the right choice and we would thoroughly recommend it.

I can only comment on my experience with Hillbury. The staff work hard and the manager attends to any queries or concerns we may have. I visit my mother regularly and she is always clean and cheerful. She participates in all the activities the home provides, which is something she never did previously.
Overall I can only compliment the staff at Hillbury as I know they are taking care of my mum.

Mum has been at Hilbury for two years and is well looked after. Her room is lovely, clean and bright and overlooking a garden. Staff are caring and attentive and patient.
Mum has dementia and finds mixing a struggle at times but joins in at the art classes which are excellent along with other social
events like musicians singing to the residents. Visiting times are relaxed.

My mother has been a resident at Hillbury care home for 3 years and my mother in law (before her death in September 2025) for 6 years.
The standard at Hillbury is generally good and if there is a failing it is resolved quickly and efficiently by the hard working management and care team. All the staff
are hard working, kind, compassionate and.friendly. They work hard to understand and help the client's with their various needs. An assortment of activities and entertainment are catered for and clients are encouraged to take part..
There is a good variety of meal choices and usually they are of a good standard, maybe too many cakes and biscuits on occasions.
I am generally happy with cleanliness of the home, especially the bedrooms. All ancillary staff work very hard, especially the laundry staff.

Title - After just 10 hours in the 'care' of this home, she looks like a serious car crash victim.
My mother-in-law has been in residential care homes for over a year now, with no accidents and no complaints about the care she has received. She was then admitted to hospital, recovering there for just
under 3 months. After just 10 hours in the 'care' of this home, she looks like a serious car crash victim. The manager said it was a slight cut to her head. Something serious happened in those 10 hours!!! I wish I could attached a photo!
The ambulance picked her up and she is now in A&E, with a safe guiding complaint now issued against the home.
Do NOT send anyone you love to this facility.

I was sorry to see that the resident I visited had no view of the garden from her bed in her bedroom. The room layout was poor. I felt it was a poor choice of room for a bed-bound resident, staring at just walls a lot of the day.The room and the establishment smelt pleasant enough and what I saw was
clean. The staff I met were helpful. Lifts very antiquated. The environment wasn't very inviting to younger people coming to visit..I saw few other visitors there yet it was Easter time. The resident doesn't like the food at all but I didn't see any meals so can't really give any feedback re this, apart from her's.

I have been visiting Hillbury for over 18 months on a monthly basis. I have always found the staff to be caring and considerate and helpful when I have had any questions. Yes, it's a busy environment but I have never had any reason to question the staff or managements commitment or dedication. I feel
confident that my sister is in a safe environment and have seen evidence of staff responding to her individual needs. I am always greeted cheerfully when visiting and offered tea or coffee or even lunch.

Some skills are poor, one carer does not know what the other has done and they don't communicate with families as promised and forget what the families tell them.
No empathy, only rushing shifts, not sure what's gone where. They need to get their ship in order. It's a shame they don't listen if a
person feels ill.
Not qualified enough, the place is OK but a lonely place. Some staff are agitated. Could be run better and staff more understanding about health. They are not friendly, not to family concerns, re. family members being there.
