Review of De La Cour House from Michael W (Son of Resident) published on 23 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

With our mother, we visited other care homes, before and after she started here, but De La Cour kept coming out top - importantly by her reckoning too. The social worker said it was one of the top two she had come across and said how evident it was that mum was benefitting from it. The team is caring, professional, good humoured, totally supportive and pro-active. The Xmas decorations were made by the team. There is a high ratio of staff to the approx. 15 residents. The residents are welcome to join in the activities in the assisted living block next door. It doesn't have the freshest most glamorous decor, but that really is not the top priority. The De La Cour team just kept going above and beyond. There is a good close relationship with the local GP's surgery. Although settling in can take quite some time and is not easy, our mother soon came to recognise that she was safe and secure and looked after and not stressed at De La Cour, and our family is hugely grateful for that.

Thank you for your review Michael. We are delighted that your mother has settled in to De La Cour so well. The team will really appreciate your kind words.

Review of De La Cour House from L H (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 4 August 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Very small care home, constant staff shortages, no activities at all for residents, falls occurred due to lack of care and my grandmother being left to sleep on a chair with no alarm. Promised all the care in the world when visited this care home at start and received nothing. Fire doors being left open during night when only one night staff on covering 2 floors. Think twice when looking into this care home for a family member. Thankfully my grandmother is away from it now or it could have been a different outcome. Staff haven't a clue about dementia don't have any understanding of it at all. Lots of agency staff in and out due to staff shortages. All the different stories that are told when an incident happens & We spoke to the manager several times about concerns and things never changed. They are left sitting in the lounge watching the same musical every day, only to be taking to the dining room for the same repetitve meals. AVOID!

Reply from Caroline McWilliams, Older People Services Manager at De La Cour House

Thanks for your feedback. We're sorry you are unhappy with your grandmother's care while she was with us. Our team were very fond of her and sorry when she had to move on. We want residents to feel safe, comfortable and well cared for. We have a robust inspection regime and are confident our team...

Review of De La Cour House from Jane D (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 March 2022 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

This is such a wonderful little place for my mum, with a 'home-from-home' feeling that is all down to a fantastic staff team who are highly skilled, dedicated and so caring. As a nurse myself, I am delighted that Mum is gently cared for and is safe and happy here. Our whole family have such peace of mind that all Mum's needs are thought about - and we feel cared for too. Thank you so much to the manager and her amazing team. It means the world to us.
