My father in law needed to consider residential care after a period of time in hospital. Alex Wood House was recommended by our local GP practice and also a friend whose mum was a resident. From first making enquiries to admission the staff could not have been more helpful. It's a lovely home, small enough for staff to really know their residents, lots of activities, plenty of outside space. My FIL really enjoys the food and his health and mobility has improved since being a resident. It wasn't easy for him to consider residential care however the staff went out of their way to help him settle in. We would absolutely recommend

All members of staff are very friendly, polite and welcoming we as a family can ask any questions and get help and assistance from all staff. Since my brother moved into the home at the end of July we have noticed a vast improvement in his overall mood he is so much happier and content due to being looked after so well, the standard of food is a vast improvement from his previous care home and the staff all treat him like he is their own family which for us as a family reassures us that he is well cared for.

Always found the staff very helpful, supportive and very lovely. it's alway clean and the facilities are good. With having the large dining rooms and the coffee room. lots of activities to do daily(if the patients want) Have had Sunday dinner here a few times which has always been good too! I know a lot of support has been given to our relation, we have always been rang to inform us of everything we need to know. All in we as a family are happy :)

My brother is being looked after with the best care and attention. The staff are excellent, keeping me informed of any changes or developments, much appreciated as I live so far away. Very reassuring to know he is in such good hands. Thank you.

I really, really enjoy helping on reception & meeting & greeting visitors along with your lovely receptionst "Ella", also lovely carer "Fara" is helpful in day to day care within the day to day activities in the main room in "Nene"! Although there are vertain persons I dislike to be in same room with!

I cannot thank the staff at Langdon House enough for the way they have cared for my mother, who arrived in April with extreme health anxiety. There is truly a culture of kindness: every member of staff, whether office admin, carer or housekeeping, really cares about the happiness and wellbeing of each resident. Everyone was unfailingly positive, patient, supportive and comforting when my mother's anxieties were at their worst, all of them doing their best to reassure her. As she gradually recovered, the staff became like friends: always making time to chat with her and encouraging her to socialise and join in activities. After four months, she now feels well enough to return to her sheltered housing flat. Langdon House arranged a leaving party for her and it was absolutely heartwarming to see how much genuine affection she and the staff had developed for each other. There may be more luxurious homes in Cambridge, but I do not believe there is a kinder one.

I like the people here and am having a lot of fun.

Alex Wood House is a pleasant and welcoming environment, well staffed by efficient management and carers who provide appropriate care to the resident I visit regularly. The home is well maintained and always very clean. This all gives great reassurance to relatives and friends.

This was my husbands first respite stay and I have to say I was very nervous and worried about it! I chose Alex Wood House as I was recommended it for its caring staff, I think this was evident from the start! We were welcomed and settled in. I kept in touch by phone and was always reassured that he was fine without glossing over his more challenging moments! This may not be the most glamorous of homes but if you are looking for a "home from home" this could be it!

The staff are also kind to my mum when she visits each week and we enjoy a chat with them and the other residents. We acknowledge that the scheme isnt the most modern but when you're paying for care, finding a home with consistent staffing and kindness count.

My dad quickly settled into AWH as a permanent resident. It's welcoming and homely and staff are super friendly and professional. They are always emphasising that this is their home, and positively encourage feedback and suggestions. I would 100% recommend to anyone considering care for their loved one.

We came for a celebration in one of the community areas. The lady in car park was very helpful and polite, and walked us around. Inside, we met the rest of our group. The staff were nice but very over the top in my opinion - pictures of this, pictures for that, wanting to promote. The food was a good mixture, but hot food plate cold. The place was well decorated and generally clean. Staff just seemed nice but over the top - as if for display with family/friends.

I would highly recommend this care home to anyone looking for a place where their loved one will be treated with respect, compassion, and genuine care.

I enjoy my visits and mum couldn't be in a better place.

My husband stayed for a week of respite care. He said he enjoyed the food and the bingo. I was reassured that all was well when I contacted the home and was told to contact as often as I needed to. He was calm and happy when I went to collect him and was in no hurry to leave. The first respite stay was a challenge for me but I'm sure I will be more relaxed during future stays.

We were made to feel welcomed on our "look around visit". My father in law has been there since the end of February 2026. All the staff are so friendly, supportive, helpful, polite and communicate with us when needed. There are lots of activities for the residents to take part in daily, and as family we are welcomed to attend/join in. My father in law has said to me the food is lovely. Ashlynn grange is a lovely and friendly care home.

It's lovely that the Units are all on the ground floor so when the warmer weather arrives the residents are able to sit outside. Each Unit has an enclosed garden which is a safe environment for those with dementia.
