I can't fault this home. My mother has only been a resident for 1 week, but the improvement in her is unbelievable. The staff are friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. They keep you informed with what is happening with the resident.

We are very pleased with the care my mother-in-law receives every day, staff are kind and respectful and are always there to offer reassurance. We have been impressed with the overall upkeep of the home.
My mother-in-law said she feels safe, this means everything to us.

My husband has been a resident at Andrew Cohen House since early March this year following a severe stroke and other medical issues. He has been treated with great care, dignity and understanding. He is very happy with the care and respect that he is shown. He greatly appreciates all the staff and all
that they do for him. As his wife, I am very relieved that he is happy and taken great care of as his needs are quite numerous and I would be unable to manage his care on my own.

My friend came to the home just over a year ago. He had never been very sociable and at first found it very hard to live in a communal environment but the staff worked extremely hard to accommodate his needs and to deal with him firmly and fairly. He is now extremely settled and would not want to be
anywhere else. The accommodation is of an exceptional standard and a great deal of time and effort is spent in ensuring residents are happy and comfortable. All staff are very welcoming and polite and go over and above what might be expected of them. The atmosphere is calm and the rooms and communal areas are well-maintained and very clean. Catering is of a very good standard and there is plenty of variety. An extra bonus is the external environment which is a real benefit to those who can go out. Buses pass near the site and there is a local doctor's surgery. Residents are involved in a number of activities. There are regular family and friends meetings. I would highly recommend it

Right from our first visit, we knew that this would be the best place for Mum. Everyone has been friendly and welcoming. We have been encouraged to make her room her own, and she has settled very well. We are very grateful to everyone.

This care home was recommended to me by a newly widowed friend who had nothing but praise for ACH when it was run as a charity since its foundation in 1993. Some months ago, it was sold to Amicura Ltd. Good transition but inevitably some changes.
My Father became a resident in May 2023 because of
increasing dementia, and bowel and bladder issues.
I cannot fault the general care at ACH with regard to physical, emotional, nursing, and care needs. It is indeed of a very high standard and I have whole-hearted confidence that Dad could not be in a better place as he declines.
Many staff are long-serving, friendly and sympathetic. There is a positive, relaxed but attentive, atmosphere with the team as a whole that is a good environment for the less-experienced carers to develop their skills.
Spacious, quiet building. Large residents' rooms. Smart decor. Wonderful garden by a nature reserve. Though fewer musical activities lately which is sad for dementia residents who join in little.

Very impressed with end-of-life care offered to Mum. She was admitted following negative experience of care at home. Caring, knowledgeable and attentive staff. We were kept fully informed and involved until his death on 7/11/23.
Unable to comment on value for money as it was funded. We had no involvement
with the arrangements.

My needs were met at every point during my stay from the time of arrival to all times when help was needed. The care home's outstanding rating for care is

My dad spent 17 days at Andrew Cohen House. We cannot thank them enough for the quality, care and how supportive and welcoming they are. Dad had spent months isolated in hospital and to have access to the basics like TV and choosing his favourite egg and cress sandwiches meant so much. The manager and
her team are fantastic and I don’t wish to mention more names as I know I will forget to mention others but they are all fab. Everyone was so supportive afterwards as well to both myself, Mum and especially Dad. Everyone respected my dad’s wishes. I cannot put in words how grateful we are that we found Andrew Cohen House for my dad.

My late wife's mother who is 94yrs old is being cared for by the wonderful staff at Andrew Cohen House. I visited her two weeks ago and from the first moment I stepped into the building, I was so impressed, not only with the cleanliness of the rooms but with the general atmosphere of peace and calm.
All the staff I encountered were friendly, smiley and welcoming and seemed to be enjoying their work. There were numerous staff, some helping with lunch, others sitting and conversing with residents. The two members of staff who put my mother-in-law back to bed after she had finished her lunch, showed the utmost kindness and care when using the hoist and ensured her dignity at all times. The bedroom was bright, roomy and clean and it was warming to see treasured family photographs had been hung within her view. I know her daughters, both who have sadly predeceased her, would have been so very happy to see how well their mother is being cared for.

February 2019 was the first anniversary of mother's residency at Andrew Cohen House, where she and all the other residents are treated with dignity and respect.

Because my home is over a 100 miles away I usually only visit three times a year, which is roughly every four months - Christmas, Easter
and mother's birthday in August, she will be 96 in 2019. However, I do usually phone at least once a month to speak to her to let her know I haven't forgotten about her despite the distance between us and to put my mind at rest that all is OK. She always says that she is being well looked after, which is a great comfort to me, being so far from her.

Fortunately my brother visits at least once a week as he works close to Andrew Cohen House, and we usually speak by phone at least once a month. He always advises me that mother is happy and well cared for and that it was an excellent decision to place her in their care when her vascular dementia made it unwise for her to continue living alone in her home.

We have sadly just lost my father-in-law, who has been cared for over the last couple of years by Andrew Cohen House.
As a healthcare professional myself, I regularly treat patients in care homes across Birmingham and can say, with hand on heart, that this is the best I have seen.
The care and compassion
shown by the staff is evident on every visit. The residents are well looked after and engaged in meaningful activities or conversation with staff who know their individual personalities and interests.
The home is always clean and bright. The staff are always around to talk to the residents not just to do their daily tasks, and have endless patience.
As a family, we couldn't have wished for a better home for my father-in-law to end his days with dementia, in peaceful and dignified surroundings with staff who really care.
