The home is extremely clean and I am very lucky to be a resident. Food is good and the staff and related care workers, practitioners and support people are very caring, professional and friendly. We have a good variety of activities, however I wish I could get outside more especially during the summer.
Down side is the lift is regularly out of use and the care home fees increase each year higher than inflation rates.
Reply from Sandra Carr, Consultant Operations Director at The Grange

Many thanks Stella for taking the time to complete the survey. We apologise for the delay in the lift repair, which as you know is due to awaiting parts. I understand that the Operations Manager has spoken to you.

The home is very professional, caring, clean, safe and friendly. Mam is comfortable and I am comforted by the extremely high amount of detailed assistance and tailored support Mam receves at all times from both internal and external service providers. The quality of food and hygiene is excepeitonal
which is very important. Although the fees are competitive, the yearly price increases each time I feel are disproportionate to the cost of living and inflation.
Reply from Sandra Carr, Consultant Operations Director at The Grange

Many thanks for taking the time to complete the survey. In regard to the fee increases, when increasing fees we take into consideration increases in minimum wages and increases in utility costs etc, but we do feel that we are very competitive in the local area with our fees

Our mum has been thriving at Whitefield for a few years now. It has excellent grounds and beautiful setting, and her room is homely and comfortable, a home from home. We have found her to be generally contented there, safe, clean and very well cared for. It feels like a good atmosphere. The staff are
very approachable. The manager recently came to post from being a nurse there. He is a highly experienced and valued presence in the care home and we think we and they are very lucky to have him. The food is sometimes excellent, but often a bit 'boring', like school dinners. The activities are varied, there are outings when the bus is in service, book club, crafts, singing, afternoon teas, nature walks and more, though as a very sociable person our mum needs more, she goes out with friends & to church. They gladly accommodate this, once providing a chaperone to a wedding. They consider quality of life generally as a high priority. We have full confidence that she's in the right place.

All staff are friendly and welcoming, rooms are clean and tidy entertainment staff are very proactive my mum is very happy and cared for but we have just recently been asked to bring in snacks for her I strongly feel these should be provided by the care home along with more fresh fruit and juice throughout
the day , I do however take biscuits and chocolates , coffee up for her at every visit.
The turn over in the washing is slow I believe they have had issues with the washing machines, hopefully that has been resolved.

There is a lovely friendly atmosphere and the whole building is kept nicely and very clean. Staff are attentive and caring, taking account of individual needs. There are stimulating and varied activities and entertainment. Whilst I appreciate the need to maintain high standards of cleanliness I do not
understand why all clothing is washed at 40c, damaged beyond use and smaller items continually lost - socks, underwear.

I think staff could do with training on palliative care this goes for any care home. Care from some staff is excellent I couldn't say a bad word. However some staff need extra training immensely lack of empathy and compassion. Phones should be away not on any person! And a routine needs to be in place
with /residents checks , care , hygiene! Also uniform should be compulsory.

My mother is suffering from pulmonary fibrosis which is a progressive illness. Since going into The Grange her needs are being well addressed by a team of professional carers and nothing is too much trouble. Mam's general appearance and demeanor have improved remarkably and this is entirely down to
the level of care she is receiving. She is now eating well, is much happier and has settled really well in her new surroundings. It is very reassuring to know that she is being so well looked after.

I needed to find some care for my mother after she was discharged from hospital following a fall but I felt that she wasn't well enough or would not be safe enough to go straight back to her bungalow as she lived alone and is fiercely independent. The Grange were contacted to see if they could help
me and my mother and I can honestly say that from the moment she arrived the staff and the love and care provided to not only my mother but to myself and my family has been fantastic. She has now built up her strength, is managing to walk again, is eating more than she ever did, and has made many friends. In fact she loves it so much she has decided she wants to stay there! Can't thank the wonderful staff enough for their professionalism but most of all for the loving care they give to all the residents.

My partner has been living here for nearly 18 months and I am very happy with the care he receives. The staff are sensitive to his needs and preferences and he clearly is very happy to be there. This period had needed a lot of sensitive and potentially distressing conversations and I have felt acknowledged
and supported throughout. I have marked activities as excellent despite his refusal to engage as the staff offer an extensive range of things to do and it's not their fault he doesn't want to get involved

My husband is a regular respite user. As a family we are very happy with the overall care he receives whilst staying at The Grange, the staff are excellent, the accomodation is very clean and well looked after, the food is good and there are activities to keep him occupied.
A care plan was put in
place which covers all of his individual needs and the home is well managed and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for care for a relative.

After hearing about other care homes I was very shocked to find this one very clean, tidy and they clean all over the place two times a day, they help you when you aren't well, they did activities, the food/drink was different every day.
The staff looked after me and I couldn't thank them enough. The
staff were always on point with their duties and they interacted with the patients really well.
