I feel there are several areas that need urgent attention. Some staff members are kind and try their best, there are far too many delays in responding to residents' needs, which can cause resident and relative distress. The sickness and turnover of staff has caused inconsistent care on many occasions,
also activities for bedbound residents are limited, leaving many without meaningful engagement during the day. Communication with families could also be improved, as updates are often unclear or delayed e.g. recent CQC Rating. Regrettably in the last 18 months I understand many complaints have had to be taken out by as relatives and residents trust has been eroded by management team, as they have not always delivered timely meaningful results to many safeguarding and internal issues. On a positive note the outside garden is a pleasant space and the internal decor is very pleasant.
Reply from Sandra Carr, Operations Director at Silver Mews Care HomeThank you for your response - we would like to respond as below The Care industry is well known for having high sickness and turnover of staff and we can confirm that our turnover of staff is actually below the national level of 34.4% We can confirm that we have two activities persons and one to one sessions are held with those residents that wish to engage with social activities

My mam has moved out from Silvermews after 3 years with the last 18 months consisting of constant issues and multiple safeguarding issues regarding missed prescribed medications, poor care and certain staff members poor attitude. The difference at the new care home is incredible and mam is engaging
in meals and activities again within 24 hours. Food is very poor at Silvermews and generally cold most of the time and with no real variety. If you just want transactional care, medicating, toileting and feeding then use Silvermews. If you want real love, care and attention to detail look at other Care homes as they is far far better out there. Our family now feel relaxed and content that Mam is now getting the care and attention she needs.
Reply from Sandra Carr, Consultant at Silver Mews Care HomeWe would like to respond in the following way Resident was moved from the home due to a reaassessment of need with various professionals and transfered to another home. We have responded and been reactive to all concerns raised in a timely and professional manner The home has two fully qualified chefs and the food standards are no longer an issue and have not been for over 6 months We wish the resident and her family all the best in her new home and understand the upset that the move has caused but fully refute the review which has been written in conjunction with other family members and a previous review.

Well, where do I begin following on from my previous review it just gets worse. After raising multiple complaints regarding poor care and inadequate practice and poor behaviour in line with the home's complaints procedures I was served with a 28 day notice for my 86 year old mother who was in their
so called care home for nearly 3 years. The notice was served by a quick phone call and a follow up email. No formal meeting was arranged to discuss the situation. The appalling management and upper management should be ashamed of how they supposedly run the home on a shoestring budget. Poor food which is often inedible and cold but is never acted on or improved and this has been apparent for nearly 2 years. Poor attitude of staff with personal opinions and oversharing information about themselves and other residents is utterly appalling. However I am pleased to say my loved one is moving to a much better place with a good rating not a needs improvement in practically all areas.
Reply from Sandra Carr, Consultant at Silver Mews Care HomeWe would like to respond to the review with the following response To clarify, the Resident was not given notice due to complaints received. A full review was undertaken by the mental health team, Social worker and the management team and it was agreed that Silver Mews could no longer provide the care that the resident required. This was discussed with family and professionals at a formal meeting with the relevant parties. We have responded and been reactive to all concerns raised in a timely and professional manner and improvements made where needed We wish the resident and her family all the best in her new home

The staff were very helpful and friendly and a big shoutout to Carl an asset to the care home. Every time I visited there was plenty of staff on site and spoke to my wife as you would expect with care and politeness.
Would definitely recommend to anyone in the same situation.

We are very happy with the care my mother receives at Carrickstone House Care Home. The staff are very caring and tailor their care to my mother's specific needs. Nothing is ever a bother to them. Any health issues are picked up and treated and monitored very quickly. The management team in particular

Since my mam has moved into the grange she has been very well cared for all the staff are very kind with my mam and also I recently had a big birthday (70th) and the kitchen here made me a cake and a lovely buffet tea. It was nice of them to make a fuss of me and a photo was taken of me and my mam and
they printed it which I will cherish forever

Since moving into Silver Mews 3 months ago, my aunt and all her family have been made welcome. The staff are like an extended family or friends to her. She has become to think of Silver Mews as her home. We are really happy with what we have seen. Thank you for all the love and care that you show her.

My Mam,
has never been better since she was admitted into Silver Mews Care Home. She has been there almost a year, and my family are thrilled at the wonderful care she is given on a daily basis. The home is such a lovely place to visit, and is always immaculate. The staff are very friendly, attentive,
and approachable. My Mam likes to watch tv in her room, but she does have the options of activities with the other residents if she wishes. We made such a good choice in choosing this home for her. Our thanks to the manager and her team, would strongly recommend this home. Thanks again.

My mother seems to be very happy in the home. The carers are really thoughtful and caring. The carers and management have dealt quickly and considerately with any concerns we have had. Regular activities take place, which are enjoyable for both residents family. The home is clean and well looked after.

I visit 3 friends in various care homes in the area and I have to say Carrickstone is by far the most superior. The first impression from the reception staff to the carers and nursing staff is a welcoming and helpful one. As a retired nurse I can not fault anything I have seen. Everyone is treated with
care respect and dignity. Residents are happy and look upon the place as home. Residents and family and friends are kept well informed as to treatments being given. Well done to all staff including cleaning and maintenance on a very well run establishment.

My mother has been in Carrickstone House Care Home since April 2025, she suffers from Alzheimer's and other health issues, home care plan was not adequate to look after my mother at her home address, family and mother agreed that mother needed 24 hour care in a care home. We visited 5 care homes in
the surrounding areas, Carrickstone was far better than anywhere else. Professionalism by all staff is unbeatable, great teamwork, happy staff and very respectful to residents and family and friends, peace of mind. Unfortunately the care home mini bus has not been on the road for many months which was godsend to help residents get out into the public , see different areas and get fresh air, the manager is taking this up with the Lloyd the CEO.On another issue the puddings were taken off the menu at meal times seemingly due to wastage, i informed care home that elderly residents some times need this as they may not be big main meal eaters , they have informed me that the pudding are now offered at a later stage in the day to see if residents are wanting them, but i'm still waiting to see or hear of this happen.Thank you.

Carrickstone is excellent for cleanliness, staff are helpful and food is basic but nutritious and plentiful, my weight has increased. Residents could be doing more communication with staff, but they are all so busy. Entertainment needs to be prompted.
