My Mum was a full-time resident for nearly 3 years. She suffered from cerebro-vascular dementia, with the last 2 years being bed-bound. My top criteria for assessing the quality of Mum's care were: clean smelling; regular drinks and food; clean with a change of clothes daily; regular moves, so she had no pressure sores; limited staff turnover, especially those who managed the home and performed daily caring routines; greeting of Mum with kindness, patience and care; clean and tidy room. All of these criteria were met by the care home. Clearly management have a wealth of knowledge, so as to perform well, all the tasks over this lengthy period. I would like to give a special mention to the primary carers who cared for Mum over the entire time she was a resident: Laura for her warmth and humour towards Mum; Vicki for her patient, gentle and respectful care of Mum and; Lee for his cheerful delivery of drinks (tea and juice) and food. And Manager Lyn for her leadership of the home.

My mother came into Southminster Care Home from hospital and the treatment and kindness she has received is outstanding. All staff are lovely, approachable and so kind making her feel welcome straight away. I cannot thank Liz The Manager enough she has been so patient answering all queries and nothing has been too much trouble. I was so worried about mum going into a care home but so grateful to how found this home. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Southminster Care Home has provided excellent care for my mother and I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and the environment they have created.

The team consistently treat my mother and her visitors with kindness, dignity and respect. They are always approachable and willing to help, and they never make you feel rushed when asking questions or requesting an update. I really appreciate the time they take to keep family members informed and reassured.

They were also very helpful when I needed to arrange a doctor's report for my solicitor, assisting with the process and making sure everything was handled smoothly.

My mother is very happy there. She enjoys the meals and regularly tells me how good the food is. She also likes spending time in the lounge where there is always some activity going on, which helps keep residents engaged and social.

The home is always extremely clean, tidy and I'm very grateful for the care and attention the staff give to my mother every day

My mum has dementia and was moved here in December following a fall. She settled in quickly and although her condition can make her frustrated the staff manage to settle her quickly. She has been happy and more importantly I know she is safe, she has company, she is stimulated and cared for. It has been a huge relief for us as a family since she has been in their care. They all do an amazing job and it's a hard job as anyone who has cared for someone will tell you. I'm very grateful to all of them, to see my mum happy after a long time of upset is priceless.

Southminster Residential Home were able to accommodate my Mother at very short notice, following an assessment that took place while my Mother was in a previous Home for Respite Care. Unfortunately there were some issues with the Home and we needed to move my Mother quickly. The manager at Southminster Residential Home made arrangements immediately for my very elderly unwell Mother (dementia). A room was prepared for her within a very short space of time, the staff helped my Mother from the car with great care and kindness. She needed to be washed and changed. There was warm homemade soup for her and she was soon clean, comfortable and safely in bed. We left for home with such relief, knowing Mum was safe, comfortable and asleep. The atmosphere in the Home is warm and friendly, a family, the residents appear happy and comfortable. The staff are lovely and the Home is efficient and professional. The building has been thoughtfully decorated with lots of homely touches. Highly recommend.

The food was good in fact he gained weight, which was a good thing. Occasionally I would find him in the lounge area watching TV with other people which was encouraging, as he was quite a loner in life, my uncle was 93 and I can say honestly that he had the best care and attention that I would have liked for him.

Had a problem with the previous home my Aunt was in, Southminster Residential Home stepped in on my request. We moved here, within 24hrs, she's settled into a new, clean & friendly home. The staff cannot do enough for her & for the first time in a while her personal hygiene is spot on. Would recommend this home 100%. They were my Aunt's & my saviours, well done Southminster Residential Home. Ten out of ten.

My mum had a fall and was advised to go on urgent respite care, this was quite late in the day and after contacting the manager my mum was assessed and a room ready for her within the hour. The staff have been great and we are so happy with the care my mum is receiving whilst on her stay.

Unfortunately my mother-in-law had got to the stage ,that we needed a care home quick . With no support from the hospital we contacted the manager at Southminster residential care. Although late she accepted the call and attended the next day at our mother's home for an assessment . . Within 3 hours she had arranged a room for her . On arrival everything was done ,so efficiently ,we were met by a number of staff all so friendly and professional. Everything was thoroughly explained about the care she would receive and our views were fully considered . Once mum was settled we were constantly checked on and asked if we had any thing we needed to know . We left knowing mum was safe and was going to be looked after ,so good exactly what was needed , we needed help and got it thankyou

The manager and her team keep me updated (phone or email) on anything I may need to know or they need to know, I feel part of there team too. Entertainment in all aspects is always going on from game's singers to visitors bringing dogs flower shows, garden fates, the list is endless.

Highly recommend always gave me support and looking after my dear friend 100 percent thankuou southminster residential home for not only being there for myself when times have been a challenge but also for j keep up the great work

My Mum was at Southminster Residential Home for just over a month until she passed away. I cannot fault the home. The staff and management were so caring, supportive and went over and above in all aspects of their work. The feel of the place is home from home, like an extended family. Many of the staff have been there years, which speaks volumes. I am so pleased she was there for her final days. I would highly recommend.

My mum who has dementia has been a resident at Legra for two and a half years. From the day we arrived following a traumatic journey from another area the Manager and her team have been welcoming and supportive. They helped mum to settle and have always treated her with love, patience and understanding. The Manager and ALL her staff have taken the time to get to know her well and her specific needs and have found strategies to help calm her when she's distressed . They find time to sit and talk to find out what's troubling her. The Home has a friendly, calm, caring atmosphere with staff who even in difficult situations manage to maintain a sense of humour. Mum is well cared for and her room is always clean and tidy. The staff and Manager quickly deal with any medical issues and keep me well informed. As a family we are very pleased with the care mum receives and all credit must go to the Manager and her excellent staff.

This home goes above and beyond with caring. They care for my mum with compassion and every member of staff takes the time to get to know mum and her ways. As a family we are so happy and we love how they know mum so well.

Southminster Residential Home provided my mother with the most professional, thoughtful, kind and greatest care during the last weeks of her life.
